It isn't a matter of 'farming gold'. I'm not farming gold. I'm just not seeing any gold dropping from any mobs . Do mobs have to be higher level than you to have a chance to drop any gold, then? Is my ninja friend just killing things above her level?

So I've been playing a while and am level 50 on my valkyrie, and I've seen the game drop gold (coins) only 3 times since the beginning tutorial section where I did see coins dropping. I had thought that it was unusual and wondered why there were even minions that collected gold when I saw none dropping. Now, a friend has started playing a ninja and gold is dropping for them left and right. I couldn't believe it. I asked them if it was a special ninja thing at one point, but they seem to get gold on their other characters as well.
So maybe I am bugged? Looking online showed that gold drops were bugged back in 2019, but there's not anything much after that mentioned.
Please advise. Thanks!
