I remember that duck train from Cupcake ^^ Everyone was wondering what all those crazy players were doing.

I still find some fun in TERA. Mostly queuing low level dungeons and explaining things to new players.

(I miss the chats around the campfires while waiting for stamina to refill quite a bit ;( )

But yes, the game is weaker now that it once was. I feel privileged to have been able to experience TERA 8 years+ ago.

And I don't regret the immense amount of time I spent. I met some of my IRL best friends here.

ah okay, cause I couldn't find threads talking about Shen server at all, only the announcement of its launch, and one thread on what to improve on. It just seemed like it was dead but Im not entirely sure. So I figured I'd ask it here to see if anyone knows more about it after scouring for info about it on Google, but to no avail.

Note I wasn't talking about the Shen server (it didn't exist in 2013), but that people from the SEA region were playing TERA quite well in Gameforge's European servers back then....

This has probably already been discussed several times, but am I the only one who perceives the current population to be way lower than it was four, five years ago? When I started playing Tera in 2014-2015, I felt like there were way more new players queueing for beginner dungeons like Bastion Loks. Of course, the game has more or less radically changed since then, since there is no need for group members really in lower dungeons anymore.

My guess would be Bluehole/Krafton adapting the system to be soloable (until Endgame) due to a sinking player base and therefore nerfing everything related to questing like dungeons and BAMs in order to focus on the "core playerbase" that wants demanding Endgame content.

If you're trying to queue for levelling dungeons, don't bother - unlike the old days, now there are easy solo instances that let you do the quest alone. So nobody queues for those anymore.

Just choose the solo version of the dungeons until you're at least 65.

Don't worry, now it's completely crashed, so no lag issues anymore.

Suspect GF has the same philosophy regarding servers that my old company had - "if they were good 10 years ago, they're good now!".

(Needless to say, my old company went bankrupt).

    I fully agree.

In the old days, we had intermediate levels of dungeons. In fact, up to very late 2016 I could run all content except MCHM.

But ever since TERA went the way of "faceroll dungeons" / "extremely hard dungeons", with nothing in between.

There is no middle ground anymore. I remember where Wonderhole Normal/Wonderholme Hard Mode or Rift's Edge Normal and Rift's Edge Hard Mode were just a matter of learning mechanics.

Now, it's all about speed. Dodge in 1ms or you're dead.

Worse is, not even in +15 Kaia you can rest, even in Normal Mode.

I mean, what is the point of BiS armor when all they know to do is implement one-shots in all dungeons? There is really no point in gearing besides the weapon! I for sure will never bother buying anything in TERA shop after I get a weapon.

So, I'm level 67 and drank the 300.-600% XP pot that GF gives us when a char reaches 65.

    Started doing dungeons.

Had 15 billion XP when I started, after 2 runs I am down to 12 billion.

What is this? Is this how Gameforge expects us to reach 68 for the patch? How can I level if I LOSE XP if I do content? :cursing:

As Warlord said, just do the flying Guardian Missions. They require no gear and your actions (shooting stuff from your mount) are exactly the same, regardless of your class.

I've even soloed some with a Tulpar (the flying mount you get for free), so you can get all the 4 mission chests in under one hour.

But it will still be difficult to enchant gear above the specified level, as it can result in item level drop, or even damaging of the item.

This is all you need to know.

BHS noticed that many people get to HO+3 and then stay there at max level.

So they now introduced a system similar to freemium games, where items break or lose level with enchant attempts. We already saw this in PvP gear.

This ALWAYS results in the gear being extremely hard to get to max level, and hugely costly. It's very rare that you won't have to use real money to achieve max level, and the cost will be pretty damn high.

It also means that rich whales can pay thousands and thousands for the new gear and have Legendary+10, which will be stronger than HO+3.

And that's the whole purpose of the new update: ways to squeeze more money out of the whales.

Sad to see the game go this way, but with Krafton it was just a matter of time.

Wait, I had a lot of stuff on my pet. Can't find it.

They want us to PAY to use them again?

Because we PAID for those pets in the past.

If they take they away, it's downright criminal fraud.

There was a lot of love put into TERA's lore indeed...

I am sad that BHS got into that legal issue with NCSoft... it left by themselves, the original devs would have added the Argon King and much more stuff to TERA that would have made it THE second best MMOs of the start of the decade.

As it stands, I merely feel privileged from having experienced it in the early days before TERA: Rising (and, above all, before all the revamps).

Thank you Senita456 for sharing the lore with us :)
