tbh atm it's simple.
the game is lacking on any content worth grinding.
1: most of the stuff that matters is locked behind arbitrary limitations that only serve to squeeze shop usage out of the players, the Adventure coin system was a big fat lie in " allowing players to run w/e they wanted, as often as they wanted", the whales dont care but everyone else is starting to notice that both GF and BHS are being quite predatory and shutting down any means for a f2p player to succeed(there was no reason to shut down guardian mission grinding for instance other than stick it to the f2p player).
2: the 64 bit release was arguably a huge flop, since you either could run the game with no issues anyway so it didn't change anything, or if you were the rest you now got a buggy mess that actually runs WORSE than before if it can run at all. you shouldn't need to have to look for 3rd parties to do the job of the developer, they keep bashing ppl using stuff like toolbox, but the Devs are the ones forcing ppl into them to have a playable experience.
3:, TERA has Horrible New player retention: the player base due to either it's own hubris(shunning newbies, mass usage of shady tools in favor of 3rd party leaderboard, non existent tutorial, and very clear separation of players tiers.) or just being exasperated due to 1 and 2 it's arguably at the lowest it has ever been and if the game keeps going in this direction it might reach the point where it wont be able to get back(can poke a few whales that everyone knows left)
i feel like this is very right! it is also very hard to even enjoy the game.
1. (for me) The game barely runs. my PC isn't great but it isn't that bad either .
Basically performance issues.
2. The launcher is...... Horrible, i took me nearly a day to download the game. that's 24 HOURS just to get the game.
3. The launchers repair/verification does nothing. it just re-downloads the entire game.
4. and WTF is that mini map. i can never understand that mini map, It's in the way it's too transparent or too solid. i come from a world of Warcraft in this aspect.
So basically. a new player logs in. Hopefully they start with a class they like straight out the door.
They do the start area (mostly without issues). Then they experience it's hard to find around because of the minimap.. when they finally get a feeling for where to go they experience VERY fast respawns that is very different from other western MMO's (that's just you have to accept so i guess that's a adjustment thing at least for me). they find out how to deal with it and go on their adventure .
SO to summarize.
So far they have experienced lag, properly deaths they feel were unjust because they arnt properly adjusted to the combat system yet. (which is great, the combat system i mean), Lags, perhaps confused walked into a city experienced loadtimes. after a great commitment in downloading 60GB's at a mere 2mBit/s. If ANYTHING goes wrong the game starts redownloading the ENTIRE GAME. That's INSANE.
Imagine if you bought a car, it gets a bump and now you have to buy a ENTIRELY NEW CAR...
oh and i didn't mention the UI can be very confusing to new players.
AND. Things who are nitpicking's but still worth mentioning.
This is still considering they haven't met toxic players, or seen a CAR in the capital , or is considering whether the game is pay to win.
Taking all this in it's not a experience i would expect new players to enjoy.
-most of all it's the tech issues that hampers the game rn- Downloading 60 gigabytes only to experince the game has to redownload 60 gigabytes again or repair 60 gigabytes as just as slow speeds.....
Do a proper maintenance update. Fix the easy and most obvious performance issues and most importantly _fix the launcher_
This game has alot of potential that is wasted.
