its a matter of luck, so yeh theoretically you might open 100 and get nothing.

there is a certain percentage though, probably for legal reasons.

for those that have opened enough boxes it gets clear what you approximately ( have to) spend to finally get what you wanted.

its a business and this seems to be part of it's strategy.

almost or even all games are designed like that.

remember you are able to play this freely because of the income generated from that and

not having the best gear or being the best doesnt have to mean you cant have fun with it.

crafting was always level bound, but in the old days started from lvl 20(?) and opened new crafting possibilities every 5-10 levels.

it has only fairly recently been changed to start at 60, so no roll-back anytime soon.

you should be able to get by just fine with what you can get.

however if you do have more types of potions, it helps to assign them to more shortcut keys.

some share cooldown (if one is used the other is also on cooldown) but not all.

so this way you could have up to 3 methods of regenerating hp: the first shortcut a minor pot, the second a major, the third your best pot.

that might be a problem at your level ( cant use potion x at lvl 30) but you get the idea.

you wont be lvl 30 for long anyway. leveling up is fast.

the simplest solution however is: don't get hit. >.< as stupid as that sounds....

the first thing you should learn in TERA is dodging. ( or blocking depending on what class you play)

RNG like in any game. Possibilities to enhance chances in shop like in any game.

there are 3 solutions to your problem:

    1- farm more

    2-buy shop items

    3-dont worry about it

    im going for 3.

"leveling up is boring" is what brought us the current state: level up in a few hours, then back to daily routine, waiting for queue's, same dungeons cos the rest is worthless....

farm mats in dungeon and buy what you miss. trade broker or shop. stand in highwatch showing off your gear.

now you have 20 characters to do the same daily routine on.

that doesnt sound boring at all.

ofcourse everyone has their own views on it. i like this, you like that.

personally, if i level up some new char, i am glad that there are more challenges than 3 endgame dungeons and take my time. simply put: from lvl 1 and up to 65 there is a whole world that poses a challenge. endgame: 3 dungeons are a challenge.

or 1 if you are really geared.

with the lessening of content over the last few years i'm thinking either the glass is half full and tera is undergoing a big reboot, a spring cleaning so to speak, getting ready for the future, and on the other hand where the glass is half-empty it has reduced its maintenance and development cost enormously and is now running on generic events, generic gear switches, generic everything. new developments seem to be restricted to a dungeon per 6 months, and even those have no more than one boss in it. this thought leads me to think its milking tera untill it's dead.

"who cares about tera? we have elyon now"

kakao seems to have faith in it. they dropped bdo and seems to bet fully on elyon.

    fingers crossed >.<

im afraid part of the blame is on us as players, we dont want to travel too far, we dont want to really have to look for quest items, we dont want to kill 100 mobs, we want faster leveling up etc. ...

so everything is dumbed down enormously. and keeps getting more dumbed down.

to be honest i wonder if it differs so much from MWA times.

there were shop boxes then too.

according to normal guide following players (i'm not) its not so hard to make a decent amount of gold, say a million or so in 3-ish weeks. ( following "protocol")

there are plenty of people glad to explain how their method works.

was it different back then? run dungeons for mats/gold, daily routines, ...

the price of TT is mostly determined by supply and demand, however, when a price is up, it does not go down so easily. why ask 1k gold if you can get 5k? no you wouldnt do that either. personally i always found the cheapest way to get TT is pay cash for it.

    if you can spare it.

i think for you the main problem now is where and how to get the new materials.

apex and magic/physical are the main changes to the combat system.

though it may hurt your pride, it may be good to look up a NEWBIE guide :)

guides are still out there but have moved to discord channels. online ones may be outdated.

tera has been reworked somewhat, needing new specs (check).

but indeed, as far as i know, it runs on the same old engine.

    welcome back.

names and objectives of materials may change but its basically the same as it was.

depending on when you left, the main change is the addittion of magic and physical stats.

besides a sufficient (see guides) power/crit factor cap, build magical/physical.

gear infusion ( on almost all of your gear) and equipping cards are good for adding those.

i vaguely recall this was a problem for some people but cant find it on forum.

i re-installed tera to another harddrive.

now when i log into the game the UI- and chat-settings have reseted to default.

    every time >.<

    solution anyone?

    (awaiting support answer)

simplified the current state of tera is:

severely lowered budget for tera. put it back under the bluehole company.

no major changes. generic events. lowest possible maintenance. keep easing leveling up. make them pay at max level. get what you can from it. get them to play elyon.

    kind regards,

    krafton

    was excited, ended up dissappointed.

we have the option now to close/hide the text displayed on screen during guardians.

    "thats nice!" you say?

yes it would be if it applied to the entire sequence.

i dont know if im missing something but the only time i get the option to turn os-text off is WHEN THE MISSION IS OVER.

    i.e. useless.

we would much rather see a seperation in chat from NPC-say and player-say.

it hasnt changed as much as might seem. yes, gear changes, materials change but it still follows the basics.

the main difference between today and the time you last played could be the introduction of magical and physical.

the old crit and/or power cap are kind of a basic now, on which you can build magic/physical stats.

gear rolls are still ( or again) a thing. just has more options in more gear, and need different(ly named) materials.

reaching 65 gets you a free second best in game gear. however keep in mind this gear is full crit. from the innerwear to the jewelry. that might lead to a crit factor level your class doesnt need that much of. power based jewelry (can ) drop in some dungeons or are available in trade broker.

another newly introduced item are partners, basically a pet with different options (increase power/crit/magic/phys).

fishing is new, but not hard to understand and mainly important as either a base for buff food crafting ( dismantling fish into filets) or a small amount of extra income by selling the fish for gold.

cards also help to boost your stats. they drop from those that gave them their cardname, broker, and an option to fuse them 4 into an rng 1, as it was with crystals.

speaking of which, the new gear does not have crystal slots for crux/niveot/dyad, with the exception of accessories ( ear-/rings).

enhancement points are yet another stat booster. ep-xp can be earned from some quests.

apex skills give you 3 extra big skills.

    hope i covered all changes.

the gear and the rolls just changed name but the basis is still the same as in mwa times, including the rerolling and keeping stats.

that leaves us with 3 changes that all boost your skill/damage/stats. (cards, EP points, apex)

in the meantime however there may have been changes to your class. another change since nexus days is that up-to-date guides moved from online to discord.

suggest you seek advice there for spending your EP-points, glyphs or changes to your rotation. if you do go look online ( like essential mana) make sure it is still up to date.

edit: how could i forgot inflation? prices (gold) have risen. upgrading attempts cost gold as well as materials. tt is sold for 1;4- or even 5000. check broker's last pages for an idea of today's prices.

well it would make sense to do more pvp damage with full pvp gear. common logic.

but this is tera. they use some kind of illogical logic. so obviously the best gear to wear in pvp is........ PVE gear.

p.s.: dont get me started on balancing.

the backslash command also applies to the various chats like global, say, party and so on.

hovering over the first part in the typing section will show you what command goes with what chat. for example: press enter and type /s ( then Space) will display a text in Say.

Global spans the whole server, say covers the area around you, area chat covers the area in which you are like Arcadia or Bastion and so on.

/r automatically replies to the (latest) whisper you receive.

from the top of my head the main other chats used are /p ( party chat) and /i (raid).

emotes can be triggered by certain words, like when you write "lol" in your chat it triggers the emote "laugh". you can change the triggers in the emote menu.

dodge. can also try def stance and blocking. otherwise i suggest just watching someone fight them and check out good old fangspawns' mechanics. also use better Hp potions

( prime) and have 2 other hp pots under shortcut keys so you have 3 options to restore Hp, since they dont share cooldowns. Prime Replenishment potion, valkyon somtin and rejuvination potion. used in the right order you can restore a lot of hp.

other than that its just a learning process ^^
