HI, In this guide i will walk you through the tips and tricks every lancer should know for tanking Bathysmal rise (and stuff NOT to do too)-

(P.S I WONT EXPLAIN MECHANICS FROM SCRATCH HERE THERE IS A ENTIRELY DIFFERENT POST FOR THAT)

so the new hot dungeon of tera can be really fun, but also tricky for many classes, here i will walk you through the Tank PoV of the dungeon.

Gearing up and packing up for the dungeon-
for this you first need to see if you are a new player or a veteran-

fresh level 65s with no prior end game gear can proceed with idonel, but if it seems that idonel isnt enough, you CAN go for crafted ambit (but that takes away the whole point of the dungeon, it becomes only a VM4 mat far)

Veterans can skip idonel and run this dungeon with +12 Deva or +12 archetype. They can directly aim for Ambit as ambit will be the base requirement for Elkara's Ship in the later patch.

    things to carry-
    savagary scrolls
    noctenium infusions
    canphonera/bravery (optional)
    LOTS OF POTS
    quick rez scrolls
a few mana pots for 2nd boss' pukey attack

once you are packed, we are ready to depart!

    BOSS1- MEMPHISIS-

so as we enter the dungeon we face the 1st boss, the baby farting, acid spraying turtle Memphisis. This guy is fairly the EASIEST guy to tank among the 3, as he is slow and his movement is limited.

The positioning of this guy can be done in 3 phases-

    Phase 1 (100%- 80%)-
use this time frame to drag the boss to the wall BETWEEN the 2 poison rocks. Take aggro, run to the wall and ask tour DPS to calm Their potatoes and its more like a 5 sec job.

    Phase 2 (80%- 30%)-
at 80% the rock breaks so it is wise to anchor the boss at the wall so that the fixer can easily fix the rock.

    Phase 3 (30%- kill)
during this time, pull the boss a little toward the center so that the boss has an exposed back for the shield phase.
ALSO make sure you have your noct, savagary on during this time along with Adrenalin rush II (increase attack speed+1/2 cd times). every lil damage counts on the shield ^^.
if the shield DOES NOT BREAK and u feel threatened, don't panic, just defend and you will live through it.

now kill it and if luck is on your side, get your boots ^^

    BOSS 2- TANTIBUS-

(p.s. skip 1st 2 mins if u don't want to see the minions)

this is BY FAR THE MOST ANNOYING BOSS TO TANK due to his movement and puke, I.E. u cant anchor him in 1 place for long.

Basic idea here is to take the boss aggro and drag him to one one the corners of the room. MAKE SURE U DONT CHOOSE THE CORNERS NEAR THE ENTER AND EXIT BECAUSE THERE IS A LOW CHANCE OF RANDOM RESET THERE .

this guy WILL move around a LOT randomly regardless the aggro, so just do your job, keep aggro on you and he will come to you eventually. The resolve cycle is important here because this boss HITS HARD and HITS fast, so keep cycling Second wind and Threatening shout to keep your shield up. this boss can cause QUIET a lot havoc if tank dies or looses aggro 9you will see in the video  )

use mana potions if u run out of mana to keep rallying cry and threatening shout ready to get back aggro

if you are ever gonna get puked JUST dont gather it on the corner, and if you get leash puked, clean up, take aggro again and move too the next corner.

Kill him and if you are lucky you get your chest piece or belt ^^

    BOSS 3-FULMINAR-

So you were able to beat the 1st 2 and now looking at last boss, and you can smell victory.

The EASIEST way to explain its simpler mechanics is that he has more or less the same moveset as Kezzel or the new 5 man VoA boss.

the best way to tank this guy is what i call "rotation tanking". this guy tends to move you around A LOT, he will push you back NO MATTER WHAT, use it to your advantage to EITHER move him in an ellipse around the map OR make him go round and round along the wall, i prefer the prior. at times it may NOT be possible to tank him in a fixed path ( as i couldn't during this run) just make sure you have the aggro and you don't get sandwiched between him and a wall, that can prove to be your doom if he starts stacking bubbles.

You need to make sure that you stay alive as leather and cloth classes cant tank him as your substitute (except pro warrior tanks). his aggro concentration on you gives time to the DPS to well.. DPS and clear out bubbles.

yet again some of the attacks this guy does like the AXE and BUBBLES are more or less COMPLETELY random so don't worry about it.

this guy again has the shield phase where i'd suggest to again go noct+savagary+Adrenaline rush to break.this guys shield AOE is different than Memphisis as this is a single devastating hit with a BAD backlash. if you are unsure and think the shield will fail, move to his side closest to a wall and defend, with good gear you will survive with a lil less than 50% health and wont be pushed far away, hence you can rush back if he does cage and prevent a wipe

again your resolve cycle is important here as yet MOST of the attacks are blockable, he can hit hard on old lvl 60 gear, so if you are running on deva and you run out of resolve, there is a HIGH chance that you will get 3-4 shotted, so be careful.

be victorious here and you will get all sorts of useful stuff like- aggro gloves, simple/superior aggro brooch, brooch design, VM4 mats, purifying brooches (good for fresh players) ambit weapon, and if you are REAALY lucky DISCOVERY WEAPON.

    Hope this helps you guys >.<;;

    till next time

Can't you simply hide behind your tank if you are unable to break his shield? Using an invulnerability skill shouldn't be too difficult either since he has a tell before he launches the attack.

If you have an inexperienced priest you can still ignore the rock entirely, the party should be fine even if he needs to use Purifying Circle twice to cure all party members.

When u live on a dead server like icaruna, i swear u face this complain from every 2nd "yolo learning" pt that goes in >.> i have heard everything from "tank shield couldnt save us" to "curing and fixing is a major pain"

the 1st boss is less than a 5 min job, but still i see people wiping and going "THIS IS IMPOSSIBRU" :pillepalle:

The hell... this shield got like 2mil hp how can you have problems breaking that...

unconfident, unskilled and panicking DPS is a cancer  . they feel if they fail to break it in like "2-3 secs" they start running around like headless chicken.. Shield break is easy, but i dunno people wanna AVOID it (on my server at least) saying its a definite wipe >.>, i have broken the shield by duoing with a zerk, both memphisis and fulminar, but when i face this, i just crack up

    #saveyourbottomandyourrun

ARE YOU WIPING AT MEMPHISIS IN BATHYSMAL RISE DUE TO THE SHIELD PHASE? HERE IS A LIL FIX FOR YOU-

It has been more than 1 week since the FoA patch came up, and i have seen (and personally experienced) that people are facing problems in passing the 1st boss of Bathysmal rise due to of overload of stuff , and the notorious shield phase, in this guide i will try to show you ways which I used in my initial runs to get through boss 1.

P.S- Most of these procedures are tested on a party having- Lancer, zerk, slayer, archer, priest.

PROBLEM 1- Poison wave is troubling you-

if you are having trouble keeping the rock closed AND your heal is still inexperienced in the instance, id suggest you to go for the camping way-

Position your party in such a way that your tank is against the wall and your melee dps is BEHIND IT, keeping it pinned in place. ASK YOUR RANGED GUY TO CAMP AT ROCK AND FIX IT ALL THE TIME. make sure the positioning of boss is in such a way that the ranged guy can contribute in the damage while he is at the rock, without getting caught in his regular aoes like the headsmash. it is advisable that IF you have a mystic, he places losta motes at the rock at the beginning of the battle so that your ranged dps can survive an accidental wave hit. if not, nexus brooch is your friend.
make sure your heal is concentrated on the boss keeper guys and NOT run to the ranged dps if he messes up. get hit with the wave, clense then use your 30 secs before the next wave wisely for rezzing your camper and closing the rock.
THE MELEE DPS WILL NOT CLOSE the rock at any cost if you are under geared of newbies to the instance because you guys are needed to KD the boss during the baby fart mechanic. ( yes baby fart, deal with it :borg: )

experiment and find the adequate positioning so that your ranged dps is safe AND he can help u kick some turtle behind . if you are still having trouble keeping the hole closed, id suggest you take the turtle farther away, and your Ranged guy stays forever alone on rock duty ^^.

PROBLEM 2- Shield phase is virtually unbreakable-

this is one problem i see every new BR party faces, mispositioning and low dps causing wipes at the shield phase. my guild derived a thing called the TRIANGLE pattern to deal with this-

During my first runs i observed 2 very important things-
1, The shield phase aoe is not a full map aoe but has a RANGE of 70-90 m (unlike crystal IN RE)
2, Lancers and zerks can SURVIVE THE AOE by blocking and take NO damage.

we will take advantage of this and do a makeshift SKIP of the shield phase.
BUT before you proceed make sure your tank and dps have quiet some pots to survive as the healer will be SLIGHTLY unavailable in this way.

at 50 % start to re-position the boss. Make the tank take the boss SLIGHTLY INTO THE entrance Tunnel ( dont worry, if u keep him on the mouth, you wont reset it). the ranged dps can now kick back and relax on the rock, just fixing it, HE WONT GO CLOSE TO THE BOSS ANYMORE. JUST RELAX ON ROCK ( i mean it :rocketlauncher: )
Now as the boss approaches 30 %, the healer should go AWAY towards the exit along with 1 dps. this is crucial as IF the tank and dps on boss BY chance wipe due to the aoe, you need 3 guys to keep going, 1 rezzes, 1 fixes rock and 1 kites.

now as the shield phase starts, ALL except the lancer RUNS Toward the exit, use your rush skills and dodges to make your getaway quicker. my personal experience says if you are able to reach the middle of the room you will survive, so just forget the boss, the tank and everything else and run. if u get caught up in the aoe, no worries, here is where the backup plan kicks in, healer comes to the rescue and the dps with him goes onto the boss to deal damage. if you have a zerker he can skip the running part and just defend through the aoe along with the lancer.

the team can also use the lil spare time they get during the shield phase to rebuff if anyone died till now. also the heal and backup dps can take care of any mobs which may have spawned during babayfart so they are not entirely useless.

the healer needs to be agile here as he will need to go near the boss right after the shield phase to help the tank and dps damaging it ( hey tanks arent invincible :dead: ). dont stay near the boss for long and try maintaining a little distance as you never know when you will need to run when shield phase will reoccur. stay vigilant as at this point if heal dies, it can get... BAD

also lancer needs to be durable to keep the boss in place, use lotsa noctenium and savigary to keep aggro on u.and remember, POTS ARE YOUR BEST FRIENDS.

this method may be slow, but if executed perfectly it is a sureshot kill in 1 go. you may need a lil practice before you can master this ( it took us 2 wipes to get the positioning and teamwork right).

this method is slow so make sure you gear up fast so that you can trash this method fast. REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A NEWBIE FIX, NOT A PERMA REPLACEMENT FOR THE SHIELD

    ROCK CAMPERS TIMER CHECK-
first poison wave - 8 secs after rock breaks
next wave if rock is not fixed - 30 secs
next time when rock scatter after fix- 1 min 10 secs

P.S. fixing the rock is important in initial runs as it disorientates the party badly
P.P.S. Beware the rock is SLIGHTLY bugged and it may not follow the first wave timing and may not fix in 1 go, be vigilant.

I am not saying this is the BEST way to do BR but it is a good way if you cant wait to gear fast. AND remember Practice makes perfect
