For fixing the rock I've found going back to the rock around 50-55 secs from last fixing it is prolly best since like you mentioned it seems to be a bit bugged.

The shield phase tactics seems a bit much but hey if it works, it works. Protip: if anyone uses Mystic corruption ring allows you to survive the AoE.
