Let me share some insight on the very interesting discussions ongoing about the current events,
Hello everyone, I would like to add a small note related to your discussion.
Please be aware that we have already taken actions against numerous accounts that were a part of the recent exploit in all servers. However, this is an ongoing battle that did not end yet, as we will keep investigating the situation and banning more accounts that were a part of it.
As harsh as this may come across, if you didn't mention it, these actions may have been seen as insufficient or practically nonexistant by the community.
The fact you mention "recent", even if it's just for relevancy, makes me question what happened to the non recent ones, but I'd like to believe those are being tackled as well.
As compared to the previously posted announcement on the korean community all we have is your word for it, with no way to quantify the dimension of that ban whatsoever, with numerous being a RNG between 2 and the total playerbase.
However, I do believe taking actions is a step on the right direction and I will keep up with any battlefield report updates provided which are MUCH welcome.
i understand its an ongoing battle and we as players might not realize the numerous problems you encounter in your position as game managers.
I'm also experienced in the customer service area and players want real solutions to the trouble they are experiencing, as fast as possible, being there as many solutions as there are players.
It's not an easy job, so it's good that the playerbase can be reasonable about the associated limitations to some extent, yet I don't think anyone is being forced to do it and as with any other job I hope it has its perks to compensate for it.
Best solution would be to roll back to Heroic Oath gear.
- No RNG rolls
- No damaged gear
- No downgrades
- No tradeable gear which destroys market
I fully agree with the 4 lines above. As for me the best solution would be going back to "Nightforge VM2 like gearing system" which I relate to gating BiS gear behind a difficult to clear HM dungeon, where every player has to perform or the dungeon isn't cleared.
Optionally a training or normal mode dungeon for it could be added. Or even an extreme one with mounts or Highwatch statues to show off.
This system is however not perfect at all. Let me mention some possible downsides to it and see if you find any way to address them:
-This system still doesn't prevent exploiters from cheating the dungeon
-BiS content becomes more difficult, if not impossible and unaccessible to obtain for the major part of the playerbase, creating elitism
-In the case someone either belongs to that elite or is a cheater they could make runs to gear p2w players, which may or may not be an intended gear progression for the patch
Even with that I believe BiS gear should be provided as part of an endgame min maxing experience for hardcore parties looking for a challenge. While having a medium gear set at the same time, letting people enjoy and clear the dungeons with their friends in a more casual environment and still allowing them to make some gold to spend on costumes as an example or having the requirements to clear the HM one and step up to the top.
As for now the difficulty of BiS comes from an inflated market and the mother of all RNGs which I think deducts from what could have been an otherwise adequate game progression and motivation for people to play, improve and enjoy the game.
When even grinding like a zombie fails, proving you're either good at cashing in, casino or brokering being the main mechanic of a MMORPG doesn't seem fully related to the concept of action combat.
I prefer dont play a dead game, then play with cheaters. Thats the reason for example i will never join any of the big guilds at mystel. They all just recruite for mass to win CU. They dont care what kind of ppl they protect.
I have to say I find it really noble that you choose your actions to try to abide by your moral standards as much as possible and I respect you for this.
However, please consider where are you drawing the line and if the solutions you provide are useful and realistic.
As a player of a small guild in Mystel you do play Civil Unrest allying sometimes with bigger guilds, so you kind of participate on this broken system and in the end also end up playing alongside cheaters.
You did not uninstall the game so despite your preferences as of now you're literally playing with cheaters too, which doesn't necessarily mean that you support them at all, just you can't do otherwise if you want to play the game even if you do it in a 100% fair manner yourself. And it's not fair you're not allowed to play a game just because some people cheat in it.
Sadly deep down you know you are not given much of a choice to begin with.
As long as you're playing pvp in this game besides dueling, deathmatch and other user organized events, the number of cheaters is so high that you're most likely to play with them or to not play pvp at all.
Just because of numbers of people cheating in the game, if any of the big guilds in Mystel kick cheaters as you suggest (with important note: cheaters here referring to anyone not playing the vanilla version of the game) then there would be no big guilds whatsoever.
You can't make a big guild without including "cheaters" because simply as of now there is not a big enough playerbase interested in, or I'd say more ABLE to play pvp clean in this game any longer, with reasons already discussed in countless posts often leading to bans in the forums.
Let's assume by some set of events, people still decide that what you said is the right way to proceed about it and kick cheaters. The immediate consequences to expect are all zerg guild as of the ones currently playing in Mystel destroyed, no exception.
Many people becoming unable to play Civil Unrest at all, risking the possible death of it plus the cheaters still free around to cheat entering either on their own or through any other guild as they are also free to make their own.
Dealing the final blow to the game to kill the problem is as easy a way out as cheating is.
Tell us one known person who lost his char and items.
Personally i wanted to send a ticket to support to report all the known ppl and ways they exploited but i find it pointless.
You will not do ANYTHING.
First of all I'd have concerns about privacy and stigma regarding bans, which may lead to trouble in case any ban happens to be unfair, which is unfortunately not an impossible happening.
On the other hand, I fully agree with you on this as I do not perceive how implementing a working solution to the current level of cheating is possible at all any longer. I'd appreciate if someone could enlighten me as in how to do it.
I'd also like to contribute to change this situation and if I knew I could report someone for cheating and their account would get banned within a couple of working days, then I'd have a reason to report. Because even if they can make a new one, then cheaters would perceive the community doesn't welcome those actions.
But why should I report anyone cheating if I perceive the actions on it are not going to be enough at all? The system is not effective and delivers no message.
I'd spend more time reporting than playing the game for solutions not to be implemented and make a clown out of myself so I agree on it being pointless. Working for nothing even if a noble goal, doesn't seem to be the right thing either.
The only ppl who have real reasons to wear perfect gear are pvp people.
As a pvp player, I have to disagree with this.
That a pve/pvx or any other player wants to max out their gear possibilities, doesn't mean they have to be mean to the rest of the community, quite the opposite.
It could be a motivation to keep playing the game to state just one of the other multiple valid reasons to play. Challenging yourself, being able to effectively help other players, clearing content faster and easier to access better earnings to gift to friends or get costumes, alts or any other desired progression are also examples.
