like Teixas already said, there is currently a bug which gives you 0 XP or negativ XP if you reach around 2 Billion XP with one Monster/Boss. This will be fixed in the upcoming Patch 86 next week.

A pet can't be a partner only the 4 new one. You can get gold Partner by combining 2 normal pets. I first made 2 pets lvl 10, I fed them with crafting materials which I don't need anymore. Then I combined them and got a partner. If you get a good one, promote this one with the other low tier partner.

If you press "H" the Vanguar Request window will open up. You complete these mission by clearing a dungeon, kill 10 BAMs or gathering materials around the world.

The strongest DPS right now is Gunner/Archer If I remember it correctly. But with the upcoming Patch v80 they will increase the level cap to 70 and also change a lot of things. So keep this in mind.
