Out of interest has anyone found a single chest yet?

I've done a fair few sweeps over several hours on different nights whilst watching movies/streams and found nothing anywhere, and have pretty much searched every zone now. I assume the boxes spawn and despawn rather than being permanently placed.

Either way I thought the last random box event was hard to hunt for, but this one is proving ridiculous. Oh well, back to the saddle for more hunting.

Well, as part of Fraya's premier guild of Pirates, I can't -not- enter a competition for pirate costumes (though I hope "upcoming pirate costumes" means we'll be able to buy them in the store -permanently- in the weeks ahead).

Two questions though - are the 20 winners the ones with the MOST treasure chests found, or just a random selection from those who find any at all? And is a screenshot needed for EACH box they find?

Uncropped TERA screenshots with the UI turned on are huge - about five megabytes each. I'm not sure how many chests are going to be found, but that's a LOT of file size potentially arriving in your inbox, unless people are sensible and upload them to imgur or something and just email the links.

I know the -main- prize is supposed to be the display of your art within the game, but even that is only a temporary thing. A free bit of advertising. I have a few artist friends who make money from commissioned work, and the amount of hours they put into a piece that they're -happy- with is staggering. The deadline for this competition is really soon, and that means any artist wanting to enter is going to have to work flat out unless they happen to have something suitable already lying around.

And... well. 30 day temporary mount. I'm not normally one to whine on free stuff, but the community has said TIME AND AGAIN that the prizes offered in Gameforge's events are substandard and often insulting. To us, as a consumer, it appears that there is literally zero difference in giving a permanent item to giving a temporary one in terms of effort and complexity from Gameforge - it's a single item delivered to a character. There are so few winners that it seems so strange to give a 30 day thing. Is the intention that the winners will then spend more money in the cash shop buying a permanent version of something they won and got attached to?

I'm no artist, and I can't enter this competition. But I urge you, Gameforge - LISTEN to your community on this one. Temporary prizes for competitions that require creativity and effort are INSULTING to your playerbase. Change the prize to permanent. Please. Our artists deserve better.

EDIT - And in addition, there are already good artists in this thread saying that the Temporary nature of this prize is making them not enter. If that's the case, what will we end up with as winning results? Will you be forced to give us pictures done in 2 minutes in MS Paint because noone else entered anything, forcing the ENTIRE playerbase to look at them constantly? The winners of this competition will be seen by every single Tera EU player. It really behooves Gameforge to do everything they can to ensure that the best artists in the community ALL enter, so we get nine awesome login screens to look at.

Well it's nice to see the shop being constantly updated, and these dragon skins are pretty nice. Yeah we're missing a lot of stuff from the US shop but seems they're bringing them out on a fixed strategy. So at least it's fairly sure we'll get them eventually.

We do -desperately- need some kind of body costume though for sure. Gameforge are likely aware that SOME returning players who opened old stored easter/caiman/xmas boxes that they had in their inventory have been able to obtain a limited number of jumpsuits and leopard leotards, which are now sitting on the Trade Brokers for upwards of 200,000g on Fraya server at least.

We need -something- in that slot people can buy. Swimsuits, Snowsuits, Leotards, Jumpsuits or (my personal fave) the gym outfits.

Gorgeous mount. The dragon pet looks cute too - hopefully both will be available to buy directly from the store eventually.

25 Tera Thalers per box though is a lot of money to risk on a random gamble, unless the chance of mount/pet is really high, considering for 8 boxes worth of TTs you can buy a permanent mount already. I'm sure a lot of people will buy the random box, but unless there's significantly higher than a 1-in-8 chance of getting something permanent and awesome, personally I can't justify having any goes at the random chance.

I don't mind gambling in games with ingame resources, but gambling with real money for potentially low chance stuff isnt for me. Good luck for those who go for the leopard though! I'm sure i'd only get divine infusions if I tried for it.

Time limited items make me a very, very sad kitty.

Of course we would love to run fantastic in-game events and reward everyone with great prizes, but that's just not possible for us.

This isnt really a comment about the event itself, more the choice of Gameforge to use time-limited items as rewards.

If it's possible to reward 30 people with 7 day bunny ears, is it necessarily any harder to reward those same 30 people with permanent bunny ears instead? The events/competitions themselves are always appreciated, but rewarding winners with 7 day versions of an item that many players would love to own permanently almost feels a little upsetting.

Doing a one-off competition for a permanent item is fun and would encourage a lot of entries. But for a 7 day small cosmetic item?

Well can't complain about three event/competitions... though I do question the fact that the ingame items are only 7/30 days.

If a huge number of people were going to win, then sure. But surely it's not much to ask that for winning a one-off contest like this that your tiny cosmetic item reward is permanent?

Two thumbs up! Getting bored seeing so many spartan horses, devaluing those that bought it with the agnitor points.

Didn't the US get Argon Horses as their Tera Club mount btw? That link implies they got the nexus warhorse same as us.

I wonder if you'll consider adding the blue Argon Horse mount that the US had as a cash shop mount perhaps? Personally I think the lion is a much better mount to have for club membership as it fits the world nicely, I always thought it was silly to have half the server riding around on argon stuff... but that mount IS nice and I'm sure a fair few players would like to get their hands on it.

Not enough human love in this thread! Lots of people know what my main Ellorah looks like as she's featured in my Diary threads (here - https://forum.tera-europe.com/showthread.php?t=111316 ) but I feel my other two beloved humans don't get enough press, so here they are.

First off, Ellorah's long-suffering elder sister, the redheaded lancer Sapphidia, currently rocking the Miranda-Lawson-from-Mass-Effect look:

Secondly, my slayer Bethyn, a dark skinned giantess of a woman who'd probably make a Renegade Commander Shepard look like a charity worker:

My only regret is that humans don't get a -really- dark hair option, and have to make do with greyish brown.

All they need to do is let us know that they now realise that the advertised achievements/titles arent possible with the two day limit on the EU version of the event, and then extend the event for enough days to make it viable. A full week is probably needed, as it sounds like there's a lot of RNG on getting all required 17 letters due to possible duplicates.

It seems the hour logged on is a full hour on one character too.

Logged on at 10:10 on my main Ellorah, had a letter waiting for me. Stayed online until 11:10, second letter was delivered. Alt hopped for about 30 minutes, then logged on my slayer, but no letter delivered at 12:10 - I'll assume I'll need to be on about 30 minutes more on Bethyn for my third letter.

EDIT - cancel that, my third letter just arrived at 12:13. It seems it's 1 per hour logged on regardless of how often you switch characters and log around, and it's delivered to whichever character you're logged on at the time.

So as long as you log on in the morning and stay logged on on one character or another for just over 4 hours, you'll get the full 5.

So this has nothing to do with Eldritch Academy?

No, other than the fact that all of the Witches' names that send you the letters are the NPCs there. But no specific reason to go to Eldritch Academy for this event, it's purely mail-based.

Unless you want to see if the Witches are as flirty up close as they are over mail of course!

I'd wager this event is more a mild incentive to get some keys and such into the economy for all the levelling players. It's clearly tuned down in numbers from the "chain farm santas/caimans for hours" events we've had before, where there were some seriously good drops there.

It sounds like it's not worth specifically farming caimans, but it's a nice enough little boost for people out questing who might get lucky. It's not the most exciting event in the world but it's better than none, and it seems more aimed at the influx of new players rather than the 60s (lets face it, forcing every level 60 to chain farm caimans in low level areas is NOT what the game needs 4 days after going F2P).

If this event injects a tonne of masterwork alkahest and spellbind into the economy it should help stabilise things a little bit whilst people get used to the new droprates filtering through.

I'm still very very scared that there's so many new gold generating methods within the game (boosters, huge daily quest increases) and a huge amount of goldsinks gone, which is already seeing spiralling inflation at least until people decide to buy a Sheldon for each of their alts, but this should help deal with the weird price fluctuation on the "necessities".

Plus I've learned to enjoy the hunt-style events. They're a nice productive thing you can do when waiting for bg queues or people to log on for instances, and let you hang out in zones you don't visit often.

You do realise, Shootersa, that when you have a Masterworked item you can't reroll with 6g scrolls. You have to reroll with the 300g Master Enigmatic scrolls.

If you have, say, a Masterworked T14 Abyss Greatsword with Double Attack speed, vs Normal and vs Minions, you'd be insane not to use 28 spellbind to lock the double attack speed and reroll normal/minions. Each reroll attempt is using 300g's worth of reroll scrolls.

Of course spellbind is worthless on items that arent masterworked - much easier to just spam cheap white scrolls at it until it gets what you want. But then... masterwork alkahest is useless on stuff that isnt masterworked! Once you ding the masterwork you can spend as much on spellbind as you can on alkahest trying to get that perfect statted +12. Gloves are the worst offender. Try getting 5 x Power stat without using spellbind...

There's also the illogical concept that many many "bad" words were fully censored, when the game itself carries a Pegi 12+ rating. Even some of the ingame NPCs swear at times. There should be no reason to censor mild swear words that the game's rating itself would allow to be heard.

Last time the words "panties" and "pantsu" were censored, for instance. As well as words like "damn" and "butt". In every single possible channel. It made communication almost impossible outside of short sentences to say you were ready to pull a boss. MMOs are a social game, most of us play for social reasons, so hugely limiting the social communication aspect makes the game a very unfun experience.

I wont say more on the subject now, just that I think a large amount of the playerbase will be watching closely and -very- ready to give their feedback on how the new chat filter implementation is.

    Quote from Raven;2344922

    1) Chat Filter: We're aware that the chat filter is not perfect, we made some changes up until now, but we'll be open for your feedback and we'll keep on monitoring this situation.

There's two problems with the -previous- implementation of the chat filter:

1.) Firstly, it was active everywhere. Whispers, Say, Guild, Party in addition to Global, Area etc. I don't think anyone has any issue with chat filters on -GLOBAL- channels (global/area/trade), but when you start limiting private conversations and guild conversations heavily in a Social game, players get upset. Whatever implementation of the chat filter we get, my heartiest feedback would go into ensuring that it only affects mass global channels. If I can't have a sensible 1 to 1 chat with a good friend via an ingame interface as I would via Instant Messenger or Skype, something is wrong.

2.) The previous version was incredibly sensitive and would combine non-bad words together and then censor entire sentences as a result. This was my posting a perfectly normal sentence in global without a single amount of profanity anywhere in it :

That's what we -don't- want to see.

But yes, we'll have to see how tomorrow's implementation works - crossing fingers.

This is all excellent news. The queue priority alone will give some big thumbs up, and it's been clear that Fraya is creaking a bit under the weight of all the players - the early zones are -crawling- with players.

    Quote from Raven;2344739

With this maintenance we'll introduce some changes to react to the increased player base. First of all we'll make some adjustments on the chat and character name filter. This should help to further improve the chat on all servers.

Is it possible to elaborate on this? The chat and name filter thing worries me a little as previously when chat filters were enabled it's resulted in huge amounts of #####s blocking almost every word anyone said. Is there more info on exactly what the filter is changing, and which channels will be affected.

Every implementation so far of any kind of chat filter in Tera has received massively negative feedback and made social communication quite hard. Hopefully it will be a very mild filter. The character -name- filter though sounds like a positive idea.

Hopefully the presence of the semi-enigmatic scrolls in this event will mean there's a good chance they get added as permanent BAM/PvP Box drops like the US get.

Either way, really is no way you can complain about this event. Sure, killing random mobs isnt exactly original, but the drops in the boxes are ridiculously nice for very limited work. Hopefully it should drive down the skyhigh prices on a lot of the desirable level 60 consumable stuff, and the presence of PvP zyrks should help even the playing field a bit in BGs.

Plus hey, everything looks kinda pretty now.

Okay, I've just read the American US Tera patch notes from their 4th December patch (and yes, I know they're too different versions of Tera and arent directly comparable apparently, but) :

    http://tera.enmasse.com/news/patch-notes/patch-181008

Their patch includes the rookie buffs and some of the bug fixes mentioned in our patch notes... and RING REROLL SCROLLS. It also removes T14 drops from BG loser boxes.

Now I'm assuming optimistically that EU will get the reroll scrolls at some point... but this patch seems to contain a lot of the stuff WE are getting tomorrow... so I wonder if the patch notes arent complete? The patch notes we got last patch missed out all the battleground cost changes, of course (not Gameforge's fault it seems, but BHS for providing incomplete notes).

Could it be that tomorrows patch also includes the reroll scrolls but they've been omitted from notes?
