Closed Beta Test 5 – Patch Notes and Server Opening Times

  • With the last closed beta test for TERA coming up, we want to share with you the latest patch notes and information related to this final closed beta session. We’ll also run a special in-game event on Saturday.

    Opening Times:
The servers for CBT 5 will be available between Friday, the 13th of April 2012, at 3pm until midnight on Sunday, the 15th of April 2012.

All times are CEST / GMT +2.

    Server Setup and Languages:

    • Server 1: Arborea – Type: PvE – Language: EN/EU
    • Server 2: Velika – Type: PvE – Language: EN/EU
    • Server 3: Essenia – Type: PvP – Language: EN/EU
    • Server 4: Westonia – Type: PvP – Language: EN/EU
    • Server 5: Sylvanoth – Type: PvE – Language: DE
    • Server 6: Baldera – Type: PvE – Language: FR

If you are new and interested in PvP we encourage you to join the server “Westonia”. The “Essenia” server is currently crowded, so if you want to avoid server queues we recommend joining the players on “Westonia”.

Please be aware that the level cap will remain at 38.

All characters will be deleted at the end of this closed beta session.

    Event for CBT 5:

Spies who infiltrated Argon camps found some alarming documents. We were told that the Argons are preparing for an attack on Velika so we’re calling for your help! Our experienced troops are fighting the Argon armies at the front line so we will need the help from every new member of the Valkyon Federation to defend Velika at all costs! Luckily our troops found the documents before the attack launched and can tell us when the invasion is planned to happen.

The day of the attack is Saturday, April 14th 2012 at the following times:

    • Arborea: 12 pm – 12:45 pm
    • Velika: 1 pm – 1:45 pm
    • Essenia: 2 pm – 2:45 pm
    • Westonia: 3 pm – 3:45 pm
    • Sylvanoth: 4 pm – 4:45 pm
    • Baldera: 5 pm – 5:45 pm

All times in CEST/ GMT +2.

Get ready for the battle in front of Velika’s gates and bring everyone with you who is able to carry a weapon!

    Patch Notes – CBT 5:

    • Due to the player feedback the difficulty for characters from level 1 to 15 was increased, this was mainly done by reducing the overall HP of characters by roughly 30%. This value will gradually adjust until it reaches the old values around level 20. As this is only part of the difficulty changes, there might be further changes and adjustments for the upcoming versions.
    • The maximum of characters you can type into all chat channels have been doubled. So you can be sure to explain everything in detail, after you accidently caused a wipe.
    • You would like to know the level of another player before going into PvP action? Well from now on you can see the level of other players by pointing your crosshair over them.

    Additional Information:

General information on the beta schedule and character wipes until release can be found here.

If you missed the information about the PvE and PvP servers, you can look it up in the news about CBT 1.

Everyone who owns a valid pre-order or CBT key will be able to participate in CBT 5.

In case you haven’t pre-ordered yet and might miss the bonuses, head over to our pre-order page and get access to all remaining test sessions.

    I got a question,

I ordered the collectors edition boxed version at the Ubisoft shop that is linked trough the Tera Europe site. I already took two weeks vacation starting from the 28th april. Am I able to play in the HeadStart with the current CBT code i received from Ubisoft? I have been playing in all CBTs thusfar... I do not want to risk a vacation without beeing able to play because I have to wait on the Tera collectors box to be delivered ya know :)

Lol increasing exp required would make it boring not harder... Thx for the info Raven!

  • Reducing the HP won't really make it more difficult, it may piss off soem players but that's pretty much it. I'd say increase the XP required.

  • so nothing changed in PvP, safezones will be still exploited, and no penalty for PK'S?

Raven, r u guys even working on this issue or will it remain like it is till release?

  • Why are you all about increasing XP required would also mean harder? By doing so it only makes it longer and more boring. It's just a brainless grindfest since it is easy at those levels to just roflstomp your way through quests. But instead decreasing HP would require ( for some classes more than others ) some downtime between rolling over packs of mobs. Personally I think they did the best thing to decrease HP instead of raising XP needed. Try to see it this way : " It would be better to think what I'm doing while fighting mobs and care about my HP and dodging attack so I have less downtime than instead just having to kill more mobs or do a few more quests". Then again, everyone has it's opinion and I just wanted to share mine.

Also really looking forward for the attack on Vellika ( good old Vanilla WoW times when world bosses would come raiding the Capitals ). A nice invasion with everyone working to stop it and considering the fact that characters are solid will make it really really interesting ( wish you luck to all the ellins and popory to not get stuck between the bigger races ).

  • I was hoping they wouldn't make it harder from 1-15 , the beginning area will become repetitive, and long winded, was hoping it would be left alone, the game doesnt need adjusting i found it completely fine, please please leave the rest of the ranks as they are , gets any harder ill quit after first month.

  • Why lvl cap still at 38? :(
40 would be great and new dungeon

  • #1 You would like to know the level of another player before going into PvP action? Well from now on you can see the level of other players by pointing your crosshair over them. :D Well thats 1 thing off my list of fixes ^^

#2 The event sounds very interesting... It'll give them a decent chance to see how the servers hold up but I can pretty much hear the whining and crying of peoples FPS problems already ^^ I've got a beasty pc so any lag should be server side.

#3 Yeah Raven please don't limit headstart like NA did !

See you all on the battle field real soon xD

Difficulty is in regards to how easy/hard it is to kill a monster. Reducing your HP makes it harder for you to kill a monster. Another way to increase the difficulty is by increasing the damage the mobs deal.

What you are thinking about is how long time it takes to lvl up. But that has nothing to do with how hard it is to kill one monster, it has to do with how many monsters you have to kill to gain lvls.
