This is probably the worst mmo gear patch I have ever played (rant post)

  • Edited*. tired of talking about the topic. People already know my opinion. I will say no more on it. Feel free to remove my post if desired. ty.

I assume its due to the fact that you tend to write long posts (887 words in the previous).

I doubt someone from gameforge reads more than 1 line of text in order to select which phrase he needs to copy paste.

For the future: Less is more. TL;DR FTW.

    :elin21:

  • I think that everyone should write what they want and read what they want. I think it's true that long posts do turn off some readers but from the beginning of my time here I didn't think my posts would ever matter very much no matter what I wrote or what style I wrote in. For that reason sometimes I choose to write long posts. No one is ever obligated to read anything I write. I don't even care if mods read it or not to be honest. Mostly I am just saying what I think in the moment and sometimes talking with other players. I'll probably adopt your recommend writing style and write a short and concise post if the time comes when I feel our words have value on the topic at hand.

  • 3. A couple of people said in the toolbox discord that the koreans felt that players were getting clears too fast so in this patch they wanted players to spend more time in their progression. I have no idea if that is true or not.

In KTera you can join dungeons without meeting the ilvl requirement . However, you get a penalty debuff if you don't meet the ilvl requirement of the dungeon ( it is written in tera mysterium patch notes). Putting ilvl requirement to enter a dungeon is gameforge's idea.

  • You can still technically get into a dungeon without meeting the ilvl and still get the debuff, but the debuff isn't worth running the dungeon anyways. You lose basically half your Amplification and Resistance to Phys and Magical attacks.

It's completely irrelevant that GameForge enforces the iLvl upon queuing (vs Ktera) because you're losing half your attack and defense type-base (Phys and Magic) by entering without meeting the requirements, so it's actually a good thing that they don't let a noob who forgot to re-equip a gear piece to jump into a dungeon and get slaughtered or make a long dungeon run for the entire group on a whim, like with previous patches where you could queue even if you weren't fully leveled for the dungeon.

  • I honestly wish they would shut down tera at this point. I loved this game so much in it’s peak and it truly pains me to see it being made out to what it is now.. just let the game die and let us have happy memories instead of suffering trying to hold onto nostalgia.

  • Our whole community moved away from TERA the moment Lost Ark opened. A lot of us even bought the 100 euro bundle, that is how certain we were we will not come back.

That means around 20 people, with 1-2 exception who is occasionally still logs in for a CU.

Just look at what they did to Sword of Legends Online, having to go Free to play after 2 months of it's innitial launch, a P2P game, because it barely maintained 200 online players at peak hours.

Move to Lost Ark, wait for Riot's MMO to release in 2 or 3 years and never touch either BlueHole made (look at Elyon, barely alive half year later), or GF published games (look at how they managed to butcher SOLO) ever again.

  • I had good times in playing this game: i had fun, i met nice people (and im still in contact with most of them), i regreat nothing of what i'v done during this long experience (except that time i got banned because i'm stupid lol) and i started playing tera back in 2013 i believe. Goddamn how the time flies, i was still at highschool back then...
I saw the game slowly changing, at some point in a good way even, and then it just started going downhill. I saw myself needing to dedicate more time than the usual to keep up in playing in a competitive way, while my free time started to become less and less. I saw the pvp aspect of the game getting completely eradicated, while being the main point for me to start playing tera. I remember Atmorph coming into one of my Dreadspire3 runs and spicing it up on his own way, one of my best memories, that day i ended up going to bed really late aswell and the day after i got late at school ( Atmorph :madge: )

I took my decision to quit the game around an year ago. I can't say i'm happy about it or i'm glad of taking this decision, but i simply didn't have fun anymore and after tera i don't feel like trying/playing any other mmo anymore either.
Sad to see a game i really liked turning like this but everything comes to an end afterall...

  • Well I will say something here in the conversation. There's people that have never messed with scripts (or cheats). Some of those people in that same group DO NOT care to try to talk to other people who DO KNOW what's possible with scripts (and cheats) because we/they have no intention of ever using those methods of play.

So if a person was to make fun or laugh at someone who does not know about scripts it would actually pretty sad because that would be like a person implying they are in a higher standing in the conversation because they do know how scripts (cheats) work in a game.

For me personally it's my 3rd patch in Tera and I have never enjoyed playing with people that use unnatural methods of play. Several of them think that you should actually thank them and praise them for their DPS. I have never thanked them and I would rather spend an extra 3 or 4 minutes in a dungeon and play with people that don't cheat. The people that don't cheat are actually usually more chill. It's often the cheaters that start throwing a rage baby if the tank can't hold their distorted aggro or if the group can't get in a clear in X minutes. I'd rather just play without them.

Furthermore, I view cheats and p2w as a possible reason for the devs making dungeons longer in this patch. It's hard to know what exactly happens but we all know it's a business and they want to try to find ways to keep you in the game and ways to want you to buy something. One of my suspicions is that they saw people clearing the previous patches fast (mostly the p2w and/or cheaters) so the idea occurred to them to just make the patch more grindy + more limited content (less maps) so people would get bored/frustrated and be more inclined to buy something to be able to play more content.

Again, I think it's actually a good thing if someone doesn't understand scripts (I don't either). Also, yes, (in my opinion) it's very possible that scripts and p2w are possibly one of the reasons that contributed to the creation of this long grindy patch. If you pay to win or cheat to clear the patch in 2 or 3 weeks, they are just going to thank you for your money then make the patch just as grindy so might buy more stuff again on the next reset. Again, it's a business. It's funny seeing the shiny p2w/scripts in Highwatch that cleared the patch in 3 weeks then think they stand there all proud as if they really believe they are outsmarting the devs and getting ahead in the game. I'm not against donating to help with server expenses but I feel like turning Tera into a trap game with limited content (2.5ish end game maps) unless you do a life time of grind or go p2w (or cheat) is a negative motivator to get people to spend money. It's sort of unethical to me. A service should try to get you to donate for enjoying your time and for providing a good service to current and potential customers, not for donate$ p2w (or cheat) because they made problems with their service on purpose (limited content/extreme grind).

  • That's on BHS and Gameforge not to take proper action against proxy and just letting them do what they want.

They could have implemented their own version of skill prediction within the client or even better, server side. BHS have a lot of resources from their profits of PUBG it's not like they are bankrupt. BHS know very well what they are doing right now. Just riding the wave and adding extra layer of difficulty so we spend even more money or ridiculous amount of time for the less unfortunate.

Most of the damage now doesn't even come from your skill level, but the excessive amount of random rolls on your gear and all those extra's like 8-10m innerwear, 2.0 crit mount. Yeah sure just be casual and do 4-6m. No one will accept you for SSHM extra long runs and you just get instakicked and that is considered a noob dungeon when average joe's expect 8m+ in there and my Gunner alt with 7m don't even get accepted for FL and got blocked lol!

Good luck doing that as a casual that don't have much time to spend on this game.

Cheaters will be cheaters, It's already known within the community who uses them based on their unrealstic hpm's and skill animation speed/machine gun cancellations. They are not respected at all. Talented players that pushed the limits of their class already left long time ago and that was the only exciting thing about Tera to see what people could do.
