In-game dungeon dps protection

  • Hello, as you may know the in-game leaderboard has a lot of problems due to dungeon abuse via 3rd party, to the point we now have 40 second runs for a 5 star dungeon.

    In order to prevent this from happening I suggest the following:

    -add a boss protection debuff on every dungeon based on the in-game dps meter, for example if a party member does more than what the developers allow for that class, the boss gets 20-40-60-80% progressive damage reduction based on the party DPS, lasting 10 minutes, so it cannot be bursted down with scripts, it will reduce the damage it receives;

    -add a maximum damage output for the whole party, if this gets pushed through the boss debuff from above apllies;

    -it will bring more balance to the dungeons for all classes with fixed damage output allowed;

    -it doesn't punish players at all, all it does is increase dungeon timers so they can no longer be abused by scripts.


    This leaves clean players totally unaffected by this change, lowering and almost nullifying all the benefits cheaters gets from abusing. This can be very easily done, there is no need for extra programming or detection, it can all be done with what is already available in a very short amount of time with little effort.

    This way you don't have to apply punishments to anyone, not even a single warning, they can still use whatever 3rd party program they like but the benefits are no longer there and no action will be further needed against players, there is no need to ban/warn a single player. Even with gross abuse, 80% damage reduction will normalize things making it fair, for events like the Tera World Dungeon that can be turned off in a specific dungeon.

  • Nice idea such concepts exist in other games like Vindictus (there is a max dps limitation based on your equipment). However BHS understanding of class balancing is very poor. It would be a better idea to make Dps soft capped for all classes e.g. max DPS 25mio ( next patch Boss monster will have massive endurance but low HP so that ~15-20+ mio DPS will be max). Idk how to implement such stuff and doubt that it will happen but we will see.

  • I have thought about posting something like "DPS Protection for the boss" for balance purposes in dungeons for a long time but couldn't ever think of anything that I felt would work. I don't know if this would work or not. I would be willing to try a DPS Boss protection idea out (or something like that) in a test patch for a couple of weeks for sure if that were to ever happen.

  • it's a nice concept but it wouldn't really work, you'd kill the competitiveness with one wrong number, especially considering there are "scripts" that ignore the defense/dmg reduction in some way.. So this would be pointless scripts wise

    We should get community managers that understand the limits and concepts of the endgame, maximizing anticc buffs and facetanking for the sake of dps improvement, etc

  • Block toolbox and add some of the QoL things in game under options, a lot of scripts have to be used under toolbox

  • There is no competition in pve, for a very long time now. Testing who can script hardest and score the fastest time that is not competition. I left this as a suggestion but the game has way bigger problems; the majority of the community (players only) and the staff can't be reasoned with and it shows, one won't stop scripting the other couldn't care less as long as the trip to the bank is fruitful.

    Rose made a thread with valid complaints, you did (Kygas), as well as others, it is what it is, soon there will be no one to play with, shortly after my friends decided to stop so did I.

  • will never not be funny seeing Kygas of all people saying Scripts invalidate any attempt to curb them

    will never not be funny seeing people getting triggered by someone who knows what's abusable in the game

    it's just a fact, nothing else

    it wouldn't help fix botting

    it wouldn't help fix scripting or it would kill competitiveness

    it wouldn't help fix exploits

    it's a band-aid fix that could be avoided by simply fixing the exploits/bugs in the first place..

    Hence it's funny to have you pointing out issues that are common knowledge you benefited from(like, sure more power to you for having the initiative but pointing the finger at a problem you had a hand in perpetuating is peak TERA).

    actually, i'm mostly clean since late 2020,

    mostly meaning stuff like ngsp, afker, autonegotiate are sometimes still in use ( not in PvP dw )

    but i stopped with usage of exploits for farming gold and such long ago :)
