Can we please get (old) dungeons with fun mechs?

  • I feel like the current tera has a serious lack of dungeons with interesting and fun mechanics.

Patch 102 has removed all of my favourite dungeons from the game and since then the pve gameplay has felt kind of boring to me. The devs don't make fun mechanics anymore, and they have also removed all the dungeons that had them.

I undestrand that the devs probably don't have the resources to make new dungeons with multiple bosses and interesting mechanics, but there is an easy solution to the lack of fun dungeons: just bring back old dungeons, without any changes being made to them - especially NOT removing bosses from them! Back in the day, the devs knew how to make fun mechanics.

Maybe this solution will not satisfy some of the people who have grinded these dungeons many times in the past and got permanently bored of them.

But personally, I would love to see old dungeons back in the game.

I was very happy when I read in the Korean patch notes that Dark Reach Citadel was gonna be re-added (because the first two bosses have some fun mechs), then extremely disappointed when it was only the last boss with no fun mechanics. Since then I have lost motivation to play tera since there are no fun dungeons in the game anymore. Manglemire was the last fun dungeon in my opinion.

But every person likes different kinds of dungeons, which is why the ideal state would be to have a high variety of dungeons to choose from, meaning a lot of different dungeons in the game, like we had in 2019. With the current population, it might mean longer que times, but re-adding fun dungeons could also help increase the population...

These are my opinions but I obviously can't speak for everyone because different people like different dungeons. So I'm opening a discussion here. Would you like to see old dungeons back in the game?

  • i would personally like some easy dungeon to play with (where i can play in a relax mode). but all the feedback i got so far is the present higher dungeon require high dps player. and if one unable to do it, there will be wipe out mechanics activated.

so i guess "fun" in tera can be an issue now. as i keep on getting the impression the developer intend to push all dps players to be high dps player.

i did sense a bit fun in the citadel albeit it is just a few second funs. it pretty much depend on who is in your party .

I didn't specify it in my post but I actually meant adding easy or mid-tier dungeons with fun mechs, so that you can relax AND have fun at the same time. Manglemire was perfect for this. The mechs very really interesting but at the same time, if you failed them, it wasn't such a big deal because most of them they didn't do that much damage so you didn't need to be stressed. That's the kind of dungeon that I love, and that is currently missing from the game.

  • Now that the game is 64-bit and can supposedly handle many people, bringing back Nexus in Argonea or the Highwatch equivalent (Nexus 2.0) might be a refreshing option that many people don't even know yet.

Other than that I hope they will put old dungeons in the Dungeon Gauntlet so they are not irrelevant immediatly.

  • more choice/variation/level differences in dungeons? yes please.

    nexus 1? yes, lovely chaos.

nexus 2? no. remember how people could steal last hit and get the good loot by using one skill at the right time? rubbish ego-mechanism.

not going to happen though, its like asking for classic tera back ( 60(?)+ pages on forum).

too few people would run those anyway, they need to keep up the ultra-efficiency daily on 20 chars and will have no time or resources to waste on just fun.

thats not what games are for.

    Rara avis in TERA

  • I do a agree with a lot of your statements above.

Came back to Tera recently to see many fun dungeons gone, with now 1 boss dungeon mostly.

If you start the "hard" end-game dungeon for the first time and you're not a pro right away, you face a possible kick depending on the team you get. Or someone very nice to help you.

If you do something wrong, everyone wipes.

As a healer, I checked Catalepticon first time and: "healer, if you do this at the wrong moment, everyone dies". Thankfully I was able to meet a nice tank player who helped me get a good grip and timing for the mechanic.

Hard mechanics are not a bad thing, it's good challenges, however we need the chill-mode dungeons are well, and the old fun ones.

Even Ravenous Gorge, the easy 3-man was pretty fun, with monkeys and bananas.

Thaumetal Refinery, Dark Reach Citadel, Shadow Sanguinary, Wonderholme....

I remember a LOT of awesome mechanics, hiding behind a pillar while boss is throwing something. A player being YEETED at another player. Make the boss slip on a banana peel. Hide in a bubble during boss thunderstorm. Pokemon-like mechanics depending on the element. One teammate turning into a MONSTER because boss debuff. Many things required a good teamwork, which was a lot of fun to do with guildmates.

Is it really troublesome/complicated to keep all dungeons running?

Rewards could be adjusted, as well as difficulty, if balance is a problem.

Weapon skin depending on the dungeons.

    Achievements for all of them.

Costumes to drop in all of them, or materials to craft the costumes.

Special mounts/pets, etc. to make all dungeons unique somehow.

    Etc.

Though I do understand that if we have 10000 dungeons, there will maybe less player running for one in particular, I suppose.

Tera's asset is the dungeon mechanics, and the active combat system.

Last word, making Tera subscription based + removing Tera-shop (or at least cosmetics only) + make everything accessible in game. Many players will be interested.

And remove the silly: buy a box in the shop to get a random costume. No, if one has to spend money, it shouldn't be luck based.

Tera has a lot of potential. Check how many other successful MMOs are running.

    Housing system

    Wedding system

Guild VS Guild (make it great again)

PvP battleground (make it great again)

    World events

    World exploration

Make leveling challenging again (it's way too easy)

    So many possibilities.

    Anyway, have a great day!

  • BHS already confirmed that we at least get a version of Manaya HM back. Sadly no DSU is planned, but a Dungeon Resonance System in July + some Argonized Dungeons in Future. So we will see..

I think Rogash dungeon design looks promising which will be released next week in Korea. I think BHS makes decisions in the right direction in terms of play Design, but we also got enough other problems to handle.
