Permanent Suspensions Regarding Bad Language

  • So a couple of friends and other players have been getting banned permanently for saying the N-word in an like altered way or having it in a name.

I kind of feel like this is a bit over the top to permanently suspend these people without warning. NA has been with Gameforge for a little while now but I don't think many people were aware that they could permanently be suspended for using language like that eventho these people use it in like daily life and with their friends.

I feel like people didn't realize that Gameforge would be so insanely strict with it. I would've assumed it would lead to a warning, 7 day or like 2 week ban maybe. But I feel like a permanent suspension is over the top given that people weren't really aware of Gameforge policy on this kind of language.

So this is kind of a PSA to anyone reading it to be super careful and maybe for Gameforge to reconsider recent bans and maybe give out a warning and an announcement to remind people that policy on this type of language is different with Gameforge. It's a little unnecessary for people to get permanently suspended over this in my opinion.

  • I agree with Ann, respect generates respect, what kind of respect a player could had if his account gets permanent banned without any kind of warning? I understand any bad and rascism is stupid and can't be tolerated on actua society but, let's be honest, we are in game, we are consomers, banning someone without notice is basically taking someone to prison without trial or second chances, yes there are people who don't learn and do the same bullshit twice, but there are many who just by warning, or simply a temporary ban are already afraid losing years of investment.

If they want players to learn, the current team of moderators has to learn to ponder and understand that this type of attitude is bad for the company.

Nothing justifies racism and any kind of personal offense, but keep in mind that everyone does have the right to be warned and to have second chances, after all they are not complying with their own terms of contract.

Those are more like guidelines and under no circumstance you should take them into consideration, they are not meant for you it's for Gameforge to use as legal tender.

Registering an account is not the same as signing a contract, by playing on the Gameforge servers you accept the Terms&Conditions policy unconditionally and you can be subjected to the rules for whatever reason they might consider to apply for your case (regarding the n-word problem).

Fiat currency/credit or any other payment used to purchase in-game items cannot be considered as an investment, Gameforge owns the publishing and intelectual rights. Your account along with the items, characters, models, mounts is the property of Gameforge, not your own, even though you bought it it's not your property but merely a lease or permit to use their trademarked and registered property. Therefore you cannot resell your account/items or any digital goods inside the game for currency/goods other than the one provided in-game by the publisher. (Can't sell stuff for $ only in-game gold/items).

They are not obligated to notify you of the ban/warning, not even a reason is needed in order to take such actions.

  • I disagree. Bigotry has no place in TERA Exiled Realm of Arborea. This game serves as a PoC and LGBTQIA+ safe space and this is a step in the right direction. I applaud Gameforge for giving no second chances to these extremely violent and hateful people.

  • I find it rather sad that two really bad racial slurs are not only able to be taken as names, they are not censored in game. NO I will not say which ones but I am pretty sure many by now have figured it out anyway. This sort of activity has no place in the 21st century and of course should not be tolerated in game whether as a joke or deliberately.

  • I think the disconnect in strictness here comes from the fact that in NA with EME Tera was rated M, while in Europe it's rated PEGI 12.

What's baffling is that like RoseNA said, there are some really offensive terms that are not censored and available to use as names. Why even have a language filter when words like that aren't censored while words like "cracker" (discovered that one a couple days ago) are.

  • Sorry but I dont think gameforge cares about 2 dipshits' value. They fucked up by saying a racial slur and got punished for it idk why you guys are fighting it

  • KEEP THE RACIST BANNED MY TWITTER FRIENDS WOULD NEVER STAND FOR THIS SHIT

    #BLM

No, All lives matter! I wonder why black people get special treatments when you have Palestinians getting killed by the Jews and forcing uighur muslims to be put in concentration camps by the Chinese government and no one really cares because that would hurt their pocket, Gay rights/BLM is all what its all about nowadays, what a joke

  • Any company that perma bans people over words instead of punishing deserves the destruction of their business, these kinds of games make their money more from older players than new ones. The people you ban are not easily replaced.

Banning people over mistakes is really, really stupid from a business perspective.

The game is rated M in the US because of big boobs, which is highly offensive in America.

I have no problem with hateful words being actionable, but you should not perma ban people over them. A month ban sends the message, teaches the player a lesson to not use these worlds on your service and retains the customer.

That someone has to tell a million dollar company this is depressing.
