Feedback about the existing RNG

  • 1.) Enchanting Kaia's Soul Gear to Full +9


    Kaia's Soul Gear - Upgrade Chance and required Mats (I WILL NOT INCLUDE THE 0.30% increased chance for each failed attempt beacause lets be real - its too complicated to include that and it overall definitely doesn't make a noticeable difference. You might need like two or three less tries overall thanks to it since its way too small of a benefit)


    from +0 to +1 = 40% Chance and 2 NM Mats each try = on average 100/40 = 2.5 tries = 5 NM Mats required

    from +1 to +2 = 40% Chance and 4 NM Mats each try = on average 100/40 = 2.5 tries = 10 NM Mats required

    from +2 to +3 = 35% Chance and 6 NM Mats each try = on average 100/35 = ~ 3 tries = 18 NM Mats required

    from +3 to +4 = 35% Chance and 6 NM Mats each try = on average 100/35 = ~ 3 tries = 18 NM Mats required

    from +4 to +5 = 35% Chance and 10 NM Mats each try = on average 100/35 = ~ 3 tries = 30 NM Mats required

    from +5 to +6 = 30% Chance and 12 NM Mats each try = on average 100/30 = 3.3 tries = 40 NM Mats required

    from +6 to +7 = 10% Chance and 4 NM & 5 HM Mats = on average 100/10 = 10 tries = 40 NM Mats & 50 HM Mats required

    from +7 to +8 = 8% Chance and 4 NM & 9 HM Mats = on average 100/8 = 12.5 tries = 50 NM Mats & 112.5 HM Mats required

    from +8 to +9 = 5% Chance and 4 NM Mats & 15 HM Mats = on average 100/5 = 20 tries = 80 NM Mats & 300 HM Mats required


    Overall: On average you need around 5+10+18+18+30+40+40+50+80 = 291 NM Mats and around 50+112.5+300 = 462.5 HM Mats to reach +9 on ONE gear piece. (Keep this in mind - this calculation is only true for *one* gear piece but we actually have four to grind for)


    For one Killing Grounds NM Run your whole group usually drops like four nm mats for the whole group so 4 / 5 people = 0.80 mats each run on average.


    To get enough NM mats you need to do 291 (required NM mats) / 0.80 mats each run = ~ 364 NM runs until you get enough mats


    Same case for the HM Dungeons since you also usually get 4 items which get shared among five people so 0.8 HM mats per run.

    For enough HM mats you need to do 462.5 / 0.80 = ~ 579 Runs of the HM dungeons


    Meaning that to get *one* of your four gear pieces to +9 you on average need to do 364 NM and 579 HM Runs = for the whole set of four items you need to 364 * 4 = 1456 NM Runs and 2316 HM Runs


    Also since you're heavily gated by the adventure coins you need to keep in mind that you only have 2400 coins each day and one NM run costs 280 coins while one HM run costs 350 coins meaning that on average you're able to 8 NM runs or 6 HM runs a day. (I WILL NOT INCLUDE THE OPTION TO REGENERATE POINTS WHILE LETTING YOUR PC STAY ONLINE DURING THE NIGHT OR SOMETHING SIMILAR! That should absolutely not be required or included for this kind of explanation!)


    1456 NM Runs / 8 NM Runs each day = just getting the required NM mats alone would take roughly 182 days of only running Lumikan or Killings Grounds NM (depending on which item for Weapon/Chest or Gloves/Boots you currently need)

    2316 HM Runs / 6 HM Runs each day = getting the required HM mats would take roughly 386 days of only running Lumikan or Killings Grounds Hardmode.


    So overall until your group of five players are able to fully enchant their Weapon/Chest/Gloves/Boots you're forced to run NM dungeons for 182 days and then HM dungeons for 386 days = 568 days on average to reach Full +9 for the whole group without buying anything from Cash-Shop. That is one whole year and 203 days - that is roughly 19 months of grinding.


    As a comparison - for the past seven or eight years you were pretty much able to get BiS Gear (meaning Full Vision Maker +15) within like one or maybe two months of actively playing and grinding. We went from like 1-2 months until you reached Max Gear to 19 months until you reach Full +9 Gear. That is completly unbelievable how incredibly grindy this game has become since Exodor & Kaia Soul was released. We need to grind like ten or twenty times more than before to reach the "same"?


    Solution: Increase the items that you receive from running all dungeons by a huge amount so we're finally back to being able to reach BiS Gear after roughly 1-2 months of actively grinding and make everything that drops group-loot cause people have been requesting that for several years already and there is absolutely no reason for you guys not to listen anymore. Everyone that helped to clear the run should be rewarded for it - don't make looting so heavily rng gated. It's a complete joke that you expect your community to grind for 19 months - literally no one is able to reach that without cashing or buying it from other players. All players are gonna lose their whole motivation to even log on anymore and many many more people are gonna stop playing and canceling their Tera Club.



    2.) RNG Stats on Jewelry https://teralore.com/en/item/89805/


    Jewerly Items like Rings/Earrings/Necklace/Circlet have three lines of random stats - each line has 130 (!) different possible stats meaning that you have 1 / (1/130 * 1/130 * 1/130) = 2.197.000 different possible items (!!!) You have over two million different rings that you can drop - can you imagine how hard it is to get perfect or heck even decent/good stats on a single piece? You're better off winning the lottery at this point because you will never be able to get a piece with 3x good Stats on it.


    Also on top of these three rng stats you also have the infusion stats which have 52 different stat options https://teralore.com/en/item/89809/ and have even six possible rolls so in theory if you wanted to get one infusion piece which guarantees that two of the six option get converted to your basic ring. So in theory your chance to get the best infusions is like 1 / (1/52 * 1/52 * 1/52 * 1/52 * 1/52 * 1/52) = 19.770.609.664 different option of infusion items - meaning that you will never get a perfect item. Its just completly impossible since it's so incredible rare. You may have the option to be lucky and get the best stat twice on it but you also have to keep in mind that adding the infusion item to your jewerly also only has a two in six chance to actually give you the two good stats. Most of the time you just one or even two of the other crap stats which forces you to buy another and try again.


    Solution: For the past seven or eight years you were able to simply choose the stats of your jewelry and of your gear aswell. There was absolutely no RNG required and every player had the same basic item (only difference back then was the enchanting level which I already criticized earlier in this post.


    3.) Infusion Stats on Gear: https://teralore.com/en/item/207688/


    As you can see in this link above you have four different options and four different lines for these stats so assuming that you want the best (3280 Physical Amplification Stat) then on average you need to have 1 / (0.25*0.25*0.25*0.25) = 256 Enhanced Duranium Medallion's which currently on Mystel cost like 300.000 gold each so for one gear piece you need to buy 256 Medallion's for 300.000g = 76.800.000 gold but keep in mind that you have four gear pieces so on average if you want to get the best Infusions possible you need to have over 300 million gold just for the infusions alone (!) but even if you had that gold there aren't enough Medallions anyway since they're incredible hard to get.


    Solution: Reduce the price in the Elleon Token's Shop by a huge amount so people would actually be able to farm them efficiently.



    tl;dr: You need to increase the dungeon loot by like 10 times since currently you need like 19 months to reach Full +9 without Cashing. The Community wants to get rewarded to playing. We wanna be able to actually feel some progression while playing. We wanna be able to reach our endgoal. Easiest solution would be - add Double Drop to all dungeons and make everything group-loot so on average everyone gets like 8-10 mats per run which would already be similar to how it was before.

    Also, remove ALL random Stats from Gear & Jewelry because they're not farmable in anyway and its literally just playing the lottery whether you might ever get a good item or not. Also it completly destroys the point of competing with other players since every single person has different fundamental circumstances regarding their damage from gear alone (You can easily gain like +30% more dmg if you compare someone with "good" farmable stats or the theoretical best in slot gear) which is seriously unhealthy for the whole game.

    It's really simple if you would just only once listen to your community and their feedback. We know how this game works and we know why a ton of our friends stopped playing this game in the past two years - because since the Exodor Patch there was only RNG and impossible grind added into the game. It's impossible to keep up anymore - there is absolutely no reason to even run a single dungeon anymore cuz you don't get anything for it. Why would your players even play anymore when they get nothing? When they can't reach their goal of Full +9?


    This game was working just fine before without this impossible grind and without all these rng stats. Remove all of that again and maybe the people might actually enjoy playing Tera again. Everyone knows that this game is fairly close to dying and if this continues then we're gonna lose even more players because 19 months just for getting +9 Gear? And then being forced to also grind for these million of possible RNG stats? How is anyone even supposed to find any motivation for this :rolleyes:

    1. Increase Dungeon Loot so instead of grinding for 19 months we finally can go back to only 1-2 months for reaching BiS Gear and are able to gear up our Twinks.

    2. Remove all RNG Stats since literally no one wants those and they're impossible to achieve anyway - absolutely no reason to even have those.

    3. Oh and btw - finally fix the same exploits and ingame bugs that have been reported several times already.

  • Ever since the level 70 patch released and I saw the pet system + halidoms/relics I knew where they were going with this game and it kept getting worse and worse and even tho I've been playing the game since it went F2P to the latest ABHM i've refused to keep up with those RNG stuff and decided to just have w/e stats on them because f*ck dealing with that kind of RNG. This patch however was the first patch I ever felt that its impossible to play this game as a F2P and grind everything on your own and decided to just stop playing the game since clearly they aren't willing to fix it and all they are doing is releasing some class based boss fights. I did about 95 runs of CATNM and my weapon didnt even make it to +6 and I was using about 3-4k coins everyday. Shitty thing about adding those kind of RNG systems is the fact that people can exploit them and get their perfect stat and pretty much have a huge advantage over others so its only beneficial to people that can exploit it really. Remove RNG stats on everything and remove the shitty cards system because clearly that didnt work with how many duping happened to the point its "normal" now its stupid we went from worrying about Weapon/Chest/Gloves/Boots/Jewelry to worrying also about belt/mask/brooch/infusions/pets/cards being perfect/semi-perfect and that is just dumb

    1.) I - myself - never spend a single € on this game (expect Tera Club which I didn't buy with irl money for 4-5 years now)

    2.) Whether I'm playing or not has no impact for Gameforge (just that my group of friends has lost one more person that stopped playing)


    But as a whole - I agree with you that Gameforge won't change anything unless they're basically getting forced to do something. Sadly we all know that there are enough whales that don't give a fûck and are gonna p2w everything anyway on the first patch day, no matter how dead this game becomes. And as you can see with other Gameforge games - if they aren't profitable enough they are just gonna close the servers so not really the best option either.

  • Well I just failed +5 to +6 gloves 6 times in a row. So.. :) Those chances are a scam. At least they increased loot. But farming it is frustrating none the less. Unfortunately lot of players are willing to give their money for p2w. So those few ppl protesting in this forum don´t really matter.

  • In conclusion, the current event schedule should be kept up for half a year at least. Of course you can farm with alts to cut your time personally.

    However there is one major issue here:

    right now it feels like you do runs for the event loots, and the normal loot is a bonus if you get lucky

    I don't have that much to say about the other points, I am fine with the accessoires, because i don't think you need perfect rolls. It's something you can incrementally improve whenever you have the possibility but shouldn't be a main focus.


    Infusions: absolute cancer, for both normal gear and accs, moreso for accs


    The major 3 issues with the game I would like to see being tackled right now are:
    1) Streamline infusions, make them attainable like etchings or via chest drops again

    2) Streamline Companion stats, make us fuse more partner to get a garantueed gold one or something (8 or 16 whatever)
    3) increase the correction bonus from 0,3% to around 1%

  • The sad thing about the current event is that it only cuts the required time from 19 months to like 9 months at best. Which yes is a huge change and helps a ton buuuut... heck even 9 months is way too much in general in my opinion - especially when you are forced to run the same dungeons again and again every single day.

    291 NM Mats / 1.80 Mats each run = 161 Runs = 8 runs a day = 20 days but four gear pieces = 80 days for all NM mats


    462.5 HM Mats / 1.80 Mats each run = 257 = 6 runs a day = 43 days but four gear pieces = 172 days



    80 + 172 days = 252 days = 8 months and 2 weeks



    or what am i missing? no idea how you're coming up with 150 days :elin31:or are we talking about the fact that you get 1 belt and 1 lumikan mat each run currently? Which is well...a bit difficult cause it only helps for someone that still needs both, but assuming that you only focus on one item at a time or only need gloves for example then the lumikan mats would be useless for you so I'd rather calculate them on their own i guess but yeah if you still need both items then you might be correct.

    Yeah just updated my post. I actually missed it at first but yeah unless you didn't already buy mats before this event and you still need both items then you would be right. But for the people that don't need them anymore its kinda "pointless" so yeah it kinda depends on how far you're already with gearing. If you're still at the beginning then both mats are definitely more helpful than in my example yes - if not then you're gonna need to grind more overall sadly.



    In the case that you still need Weapon/Chest and Gloves/Boots Mats:


    291 NM Mats / 2.80 Mats each run = 103 Runs = 8 runs a day = 13 days but four gear pieces = 52 days for all NM mats


    462.5 HM Mats / 2.80 Mats each run = 165 = 6 runs a day = 27.5 days but four gear pieces = 110 days


    So assuming that you're still Full Kaia +15 and need all Mats evenly then its 162 days with the current event. (Which is still 5 Months & 2 weeks so idk...should still be reduced to 1 month in my opinion - People don't want to grind for half a year until they are done gearing a single character with gear thats gonna be irrevelant in one year anyway.)

    I mean - its only possible with buying the cash-shop boxes but yeah you're correct its probably better to judge it from the point of view of someone that starts with Full +0 Kaia's Soul equipment.


    So once again - with the current Event the amount of time that you need to spend on grinding the same few dungeons is reduced from 19 months to at least 5 months & 2 weeks but gonna be honest - compared to how Tera was before this is still far away from being somewhat playable. From my own experience there aren't a lot of people that are willing to grind for it or that have enough motivation to even log into the game anymore - heck like 70-80% of my closer friends stopped playing in 2020/2021 and aren't interested in coming back unless they completly revamp the whole loot & gearing situation.

    So, just to explain how I did the calculation in my additional post incase it's still confusing. You missed the [Single] drop items from hard mode, while i added them

    1x Trade Chest: Rukmia's Horn Fragment [Single]

    1x Trade Chest: Soul of the tyrant [Single]

    which makes it 4 regular mats + 2 Event single drops, so 1.2 per member. + 2 group loot items from the event makes it 3.2 which cuts it by like 15 days, making it pretty clean 150.


    Just to clear things out, because you seem to rush your edits.


    However, the point you brought up about being done faster with certain parts, which renders some mats useless is valid to a degree, since because of the RNG you will probably have shoes +9 and gloves +9 but weapon and chest still +7 and +8 or whatever.

    But at this point it gets messy.

    My solution would be to make the enchant correction more useful than 0,3% as i said above

  • Do both Chests actually drop every single Run though? At least from my experience that wasn't the case but maybe I was just incredible unlucky yesterday. (Only got one chest in ten HM runs but maybe my dice rng was just awful) But I would actually argue that it might be smarter to sell these chests for gold since you also need to buy magic ingots from npc or broker but thats probably a difficult discussion.


    But yeah anyway - it gets a bit messy, agreed. Also there definitely needs to be some improvement to enchanting itself.

  • So what I learned from these calculations: I need on average 400 NM and 660 HM runs to +9 my four pieces.

    This would take me way longer than 5 months because some days I just don't feel like grinding the same dungeons and I don't have TC.

    I agree that you should get +9 in 1-2 months if you do all runs all day everyday. That way it would also be possible to get +9 if you play more casual, and it would take 3-4 months, which is fine. In the current situation, these 5 months would become 10 for me, which means the next gear set is probably already out.
