Current State of TERA

  • the game's garbage yh, it is why it had lost like 90% of it's population if not more xd it's not even tera anymore... this game no longer resemble the old tera at all, i'd say it's some other game full of grind, rng and p2w just the name didn't changed.

Yet you're here on the forums complaining about said garbage game. :elin18:

Agreed, game too easy, fixed on the one boss meta and too much p2w

As an old player myself, i agree with him, game is shit right now but i could hope they would make even slightly fun or any improvement, only complaining we can hope to move forward

Why even bother defend a dying game going even more downhill

  • If enough players stand together then we can get the devs and gameforge to change their ways about the game and how they treat their community of players no one wants to go through what NA players went through with enmasse if they dont realize that they will end up fired as a publisher just like them so we must stand together and make them understand this i actually got them to listen to remove the downgrade system on kaia so it isn't impossible if ktera players can do it so can we

  • Pay 2 Win is not the way to play the game Gameforge and you know it.

Paying to skip grinding is not okay. You want this game to die ? then so be it. You aren't getting any participation from me until you fix this.

In my 10 years of playing this game I've NEVER seen a patch this badly implemented...

Solo Cata is on par with Normal Cata which is NOT supposed to be that way AT ALL !

Too much P2W to skip grinding when the dungeons are a way to LEARN and GRIND without PAYING.

Too much greed EXAGERATING on the price on broker.

Like I said, you aren't gonna get me participated on this patch until you find something to fix these issue.

Until then I'm gonna afk doing NOTHING in Velika.

  • Solo Cat takes too much, waste too much coin.

Killing grounds drop 3 to 4 belts per run, i think cat had the same drop out of events, its just terrible. Game is basically unplayable out of drop events lol

  • While I agree with most if not all of what you said, it's clear at this point things are too far gone. Bluehole has neither want nor care to learn from their mistakes or look to what they did right. They proved that when they ditched the Guardian gear system for the Exodor gear system, erasing any steps forward they took and taking several back, with changes I doubt any sane player would ask for.

Couple that with their ridiculous focus on dungeons to the neglect of any other content this game has, and there's a reason most people are just standing in cities, doing nothing or waiting on tedious queues.

As for Gameforge, it's clear they have no interest in pulling this game back from the abyss either. After all, SoulWorker recently passed on from them, and they couldn't even be bothered to give players the option to transfer their character data.

All in all, while it could be redeemed, there's little chance of that happening now. That Death of a Game video and the information it provided makes it seem almost impressive that Tera made it this far, but I'd guess at best another year, maybe two, before it goes, with Elyon now being seemingly around the corner. Hopefully enough people will remember their treatment of Tera and not opt into that recycle-fest, but...well, people are people.

  • what is your problem if someone buys their own gear through p2w? do you play pvp and someone will beat you because he bought a gear? what do you care what kind of gear a person has? Or are you just jealous of him that he can buy and you can't?

Why in 2021 people still think p2w is bad? how then should the publisher and the developer make money? Don't you think that renting a server or developing new content also costs money?

    Ladies and gentlemen, exhibit A.

  • There are the cosmetics part on every game for that reason. And TERA has tons of them. Body costumes, Weapon Skins, Face accesories, Head accesories, Back accesories, Footprints accesories, Mounts, Pets/Companions.

If a game is well made and has a good content developed that players can really enjoy then spending money for gear wouldnt be necesary. When a developer aims to get money throught pay walls on players progression its because their game has no quality content to offer at all.

    DAMN, Sweet Shiro!
You really said it perfectly here.

If the game was developed well with good content, people would pay just to play the game like other subscription based games such as FF14 or World of Warcraft.
Players here are instead forced to gamble their money on lootboxes in hopes that they might roll well and receive their pay to win gears which will progress them in the game.
Players skill does not progress them here. Their bank account does.
It's sick and hardly what I'd even consider to be a "game".

  • Oh and you know what's worst ? P2W during a PANDEMIC ! Gameforge is destroying lives with these lootboxes. I don't care how it's implemented, They are killing lives during the pandemic... Money SHOULDN'T BE SPEND on things like this... you save money for important stuff. Lootboxes are not important.

  • Gameforge are you really willing to destroy the only NA server you just received because your obsessed with trying to turn tera p2w?. Do you even care that your destroying the game for hard working players that spent hours months years even to get to where they are now? We didn't spend that time busting our asses to farm dungeons and mats only to have someone get everything instantly without doing anything but swiping a freaking credit card think about what your destroying about this game think very very hard tera is supposed to be about challenges one faces and the thrill of achieving that goal rather it's single or with friends it's about working hard to get what you want and feeling proud to do that what your doing is giving instant gratification to players that didn't work for it with this p2w crap your doing and it's disrespectful to the players that worked hard to get what they wanted

  • EME's policy was to do nothing because Bluehole/Krafton knows best. We eventually got some P2W crates in our shop after months of suffering with nothing at all, but not to the extent that we're seeing now.

Events were either economy-breaking generous or so stingy they weren't worth doing, nothing in between. By the end, they were nonexistent.

At one point they almost completely emptied their cash shop to prevent in-game inflation... which only caused massive in-game inflation as the price of everything on the broker skyrocketed. Y'know, supply and demand. Even after they re-added a bunch of things to the shop, they economy never recovered.

We didn't have a community manager at all for the last several month (a year? longer?) and they abandoned their forums all together.

From March to the end of May last year they disabled adventure coins completely because server stability was so bad.

For Tera PC's anniversary last year, they focused all their efforts on a month of events for Console while PC just spammed dungeons for a month.

For all the complaints lately about how Gameforge is handling... everything, and as bad as things are right now, I just tell myself, 'things could be worse, we could still be with EME'. For all of Gameforge's shortcomings these last few patches, I'm frightened to think how EME would have handled them.

  • What killed it for me is that they decided to delete my account because I missed their bullshit 6 week transfer window. I've played since launch 2011, probably put well over $1000 into the game over a decade of playing. Dozens of characters, costumes, mounts, multiple accounts, millions in items. I took long breaks, but I always came back every once in a while to catch up. This is a common occurrence in MMOs, people play hard, they take a break to play other games, deal with life, etc, and they come back when they have free time. What did I come back to this time? A dead site, and a lost account.

Know what other MMO also had a publisher change recently? BDO.
And the time they gave players to do a transfer? Six MONTHS.

And most importantly? They actually sent a notification to people they were going to do this.

I've heard of GF being scummy for years while playing NA Tera from EU players who intentionally moved to NA Tera, but this truly takes the cake.

It was 100% within GF's capacity to just migrate over everyone's accounts and allow people to transfer them as they come back. EME was shutting down, even their website could've been transferred over to GF ownership.

What was the business meeting like to decide to give decade long players 6 weeks to transfer or lose everything? "Well if they lose thousands of dollars of stuff, they'll have to rebuy it all!"

    Yeah, fat chance.

GF can go f*ck themselves and I'll make sure to pass on my story to anyone I meet even considering playing a GF run game.

  • And most importantly? They actually sent a notification to people they were going to do this.

EME sent out at least 2 emails (which some people seem to have not gotten) and spammed it all over their social media for months in advance. Quite frankly, I'm tired of the "They didn't notify anyone" argument. They did.

I've heard of GF being scummy for years while playing NA Tera from EU players who intentionally moved to NA Tera, but this truly takes the cake.

I love how people go back to that argument. That was YEARS ago. More recently for a stretch of two or three years it was the other way around.

And most recently, it seems both companies went down hill.

It was 100% within GF's capacity to just migrate over everyone's accounts and allow people to transfer them as they come back. EME was shutting down, even their website could've been transferred over to GF ownership.

That would have been illegal. EME could not legally give Gameforge anyone's account information without their permission. I'm sorry you lost your account, but GF and EME were not going to break the law for you.

What was the business meeting like to decide to give decade long players 6 weeks to transfer or lose everything?

TBH, the deadline was most likely predicated by EME closing, not any decision on GF's part.

  • That would have been illegal. EME could not legally give Gameforge anyone's account information without their permission. I'm sorry you lost your account, but GF and EME were not going to break the law for you.

Have you ever held a job at a company that isn't minimum wage?
Company mergers, buyouts, and closures are so common it's business as usual to transfer customer accounts. Half the screw ups at my last workplace was fixing crap after poorly managed mergers. Most buyouts happen SOLELY for customer accounts. Customer accounts are the single most valuable asset for the vast majority of businesses I can't believe I'm actually having to explain this to someone. I've even seen smaller companies crash and burn because a high level exec moved on to a competitor and took 80% of the customer accounts with him because he built a personal relationship with those customers.

You're gonna tell me GF couldn't afford to buy up the customer accounts or even the entirety of EME considering they were already a dead company? How much would that have cost? $5000 in lawyer fees to file all the paperwork?

Apparently that's too high a price to keep a decade worth of customer accounts and a couple GB of storage. Keep on defending and supporting scummy companies though, they will no doubt reward you generously in the end for your loyalty.

Sadly that was the way they handle EU for years now, HO+3 was the exception i think, you still needed bahaar but im not 100% sure there. I knew the moment they got NA people would flip because NA was all about grinding the materials even go as far as spam low level dungeons non stop for gold talents.
EU extra material box on the stormcry/HO time from elions marks would be acceptable on NA but the full p2w for a server used to play to get the items is pretty much killing it yeah

  • For Tera PC's anniversary last year, they focused all their efforts on a month of events for Console while PC just spammed dungeons for a month.

Honestly, if i had a console i would go for the console over the pc anytime. They are on old patches which includes REAL dungeons, you know, with actually mechanics and more than one brain dead boss.

They don't have stupid p2w ress on almost all content in game so i would actually enjoy play heal again.

At this point console is the real tera in my opinion, people should enjoy while it doesnt catch up to the horrible patches we had on pc that ruined the game, with luck they wont actually implement the same patches there

Gameforge needs to comply with the EU GDPR. EME couldn't give them our personal data without our permission.

  • Gameforge needs to comply with the EU GDPR. EME couldn't give them our personal data without our permission.

If the servers are physically in NA then they have to comply with NA laws. I am no expert on this but I guess most companies play safe and try to take the step that will avoid them fall under lawsuits.

Edit: The only reason GameForge needs to comply with the EU GDPR is becuase their main base of operations is located on Germany and thus they could be target of said lawsuits from EU people who happens to own accounts in NA servers.

If they didnt have any physical bussiness in EU then that would fall into international courts and most likely they will judge if said infraction should fall under EU GDPR or NA laws. My guess would be NA laws.
