Current State of TERA

  • TERA has turned to a sad state. People quitting left and right because of this new patch due to the fact that the gear is very p2w. Forums like this have probably been seen quite a bit now. I know Gameforge and the Devs are trying to make money off of TERA but they're actually just killing the game and making less out of TERA. I've read over the Forums about the new full p2w aspect of the game and these Forums of correct, Gameforge and Bluehole are killing TERA with the half assed content and the lack of effort to fix the servers. Look at NA servers, people have been having unknown ping issues ever since maintenance. Where is all of the Money us, the players FUND YOU GUYS to actually do something useful? Half assed content? Single boss dungeons? Costumes we don't want/need? Why not spend the money to make the game better instead? F2P players can't even advance because: The gold gain from dungeons? Crap. Population? Might as well be dead because the only time it was alive is when the new patch arrive but that was only in Highwatch Ch.01 then later even that dropped significantly so there's actually almost no one to run with aside from Clique runs and queuing (Which can take half an hour btw even for a healer or tank). The materials needed to upgrade and enchant gear drop rates in dungeons? Oh wow, next to nonexistent!

What it'll take a p2w player a couple of hours to gear to max, it'll take a f2p players probably months or up to a year to get maxed. That is literally just an massively unfair advantage, because once these p2w players get maxed gear, all they do is just sit and afk or never play again. The real aspect of TERA has been lost, it was a game where you had to grind out your gear and your materials in order to be able to do a higher tier dungeon which was actually the most fun aspect of the game. But now it's behind a wall of money built by greedy devs and publishers. Don't get me wrong, I know they're trying to make money (Making that as CLEAR as possible) but how is that gonna happen when they're pushing players away instead of attracting them? There's much more negative to say than there is positive at this point. Even our old publisher, En Masse had better management skills.

To summarize all of my thoughts up:

TERA is dying and it seems like all Gameforge and Bluehole wants is the money when they can't make the money due to the fact there's not enough players and no one is willing to spend the money until it's gonna be put to actually good use. We appreciate the small events, but that's just not gonna cut it. The open world PvP in the NA pvp Server; Kaia, is still broken. Something that never was an issue with En Masse. FWC was never broken with En Masse, En Masse and when the servers were broken the staff team would immediately hop on it and take as long as it needs to solve the problem with the servers but right now? Seems to me and a bunch of players that En Masse was more professional than Gameforge and probably will still ever be. En Masse did listen to us, but it feels like now our cries for help where it matters most are being ignored.

Do not let a game that has so much potential die from carelessness, TERA can be redeemed. It just takes the right decisions and the right moves to get people interested in the game again. Take a look at old games like WoW and GW2 that have a thriving, lively community after 10 years because of Developers and Publishers who know how to keep their player base interested in the game and not locking everything behind a p2w wall. Meanwhile TERA made it onto the Dead Games list on a YouTube channel. TERA won't make it to see the end of 2021 at this rate and it's sad.

  • what is your problem if someone buys their own gear through p2w? do you play pvp and someone will beat you because he bought a gear? what do you care what kind of gear a person has? Or are you just jealous of him that he can buy and you can't?

Why in 2021 people still think p2w is bad? how then should the publisher and the developer make money? Don't you think that renting a server or developing new content also costs money?

  • Do not let a game that has so much potential die from carelessness, TERA can be redeemed. It just takes the right decisions and the right moves to get people interested in the game again.

TERA needs to get closed. Or keep TERA alive and delete all PvP content.

Instead create a new modern looking PvP game with Teras combat system.

TERA having potential doesn't even matter because the developers and publishers have no potential.

Not only that they have no potential, they are also totally out of touch with their own game. It is over.

I don't care if someone bought their gear, if you can then why not? My problem is that I might never catch up to players who bought it cuz of the material shortage and terrible rng chances on enchanting. I don't mind grinding extra month if I'm guaranteed that I'll end up with the same gear or similar to it. Before this endgame box, as a DPS, I waited in que for those 3 dungeons for 5-7m (which is pretty fast from my experience), but now since more people have their Kaia +15 the wait is 15-20m cuz no one wants/ have need to go to those boring dungeons again. And there are a lot of people who are still stuck on their Kaia+10 and can't progress cuz 1. long ques 2. horrible drop rate 3. terrible rng on gear enchants. So for now, the endgame is made for elitist only, who can experience dungeons in their original state, cuz by the time I get to CAT it's gonna be nerfed to the ground.

Nice troll post, because you ignored pretty much me mentioning that in a good portion of my post.

  • I agree with Nevada, look at it this way, for every other hobby you pay regardless of what it involves. I guess it all revolves around on how fortunate you are or what you tend to spend money on and how much and this reflects the gear. The problem you have with the rest of the community is the lack of content and the repetitive manor in which progression in the game occurs.

PvE&f2p (You) - complain about the grind and material scarcity, fair point and you are right about this

P2W&PvE - complain about the lack of content and afk-ing in hw admiring the gear because all that came in a box you paid for

    PVP - I won't touch this one

If you don't have a life, buy it, at least you skip the grind.

There are the cosmetics part on every game for that reason. And TERA has tons of them. Body costumes, Weapon Skins, Face accesories, Head accesories, Back accesories, Footprints accesories, Mounts, Pets/Companions.

If a game is well made and has a good content developed that players can really enjoy then spending money for gear wouldnt be necesary. When a developer aims to get money throught pay walls on players progression its because their game has no quality content to offer at all.

It would be fine if the materials from dungeons were more plentiful, then sure let the scrubs get their p2w gear and suck ass at the game. But when it can take several months for non payers to catch up. And please don't preach about someone being jealous about someone buying gear and they can't, I've already spend like 4-5k usd on gameforge since the migration on cosmetics and other things and I refuse to p2w. What is the ****ing point of playing then. Your logic is wrong.

Then we get stuff like leaderboards that are affected by it, Buy your p2w gear and control the leaderboards and get the titles for several months while f2p get shafted(even if they are more skilled). get the hell off my mmo and go play a game made for p2w

  • OP, you are aware that Frogster, now d/b/a Gameforge, has a longstanding reputation for buying up dying games and making them extremely P2W right?

Honestly I think GF is doing the best they can with the tools they have. We all wish there was more content and it's a damn shame that Krafton can't at least re-balance more of the existing dungeons that they removed. More variety in Tera's end game would go a long way to make it feel less like a grind.

Next patch we'll get another dungeon for the glove and shoe materials so at least there's that.

  • If the devs are so bad at creating new content, they should just stop trying to create it.
Instead, they should simply release a server for Tera, set in a patch when people actually liked the game the most, make it a pay to play so they're earning enough money to maintain the server, remove unnecessary pay to win micro-transactions, and keep it that way forever.

At lease that way people can still have enjoyable PVP, and make up their own stories through roleplay, or do guild/social related things together without having to worry about a new update coming along and SCREWING UP THEIR EXPERIENCE.

  • Too bad they don't have the dev's/artists from way back when who left/were fired who created the older content (hence why there is so many repeated similar looking monsters). The forum archive and the dev's from EME shows that the team there were a lot more active then in here (in terms of communicating with the community). It's sad! I'd love more content! I think a lot of us would!

I have so many idea's for this game, stuff that I wish they could implement. But I feel lack of motivation to share them on the forums because whats the point if they dont really look at anything we have to say anyways?

  • distilled1 Don't talk if you have no clue how PvP should be.

Nobody takes people like you casual inactive noobs serious that just create a forum account and start spamming all threads with "classic server pls" posts.

  • Nice projection, Om3Ga, but it is you who no one takes seriously around here:

Why do you even argue with this guy that have completely no idea what he's talking about? Don't waste ur nerves bro, not worth it.

    Knowledge yes.

Functional brain? You are still playing this game so lets cut that out.

You think just because you currently play garbage, your opinion is superior to others?
I used to play Tera years ago when it was actually a decent game to play. It no longer is. Why are you so threatened by a Classic Tera server existing anyways?

You scared people will stop playing in the trash bin with you and begin playing something decent?

    Sad.

    Also your other comment

And what do you not understand about the lack of interest into a classic server?

Not even mentioning that classic server for TERA would not work out.

Excuses over excuses. Like the european TERA servers are not temporary.

They will close down. And no, you wont get your money back.

literally makes no sense unfortunately. I asked you to clarify what you meant and you won't do it.

I know English might not be your first language, but yikes.

  • Your whole post is about what GF did wrong. BUT they actually did everything right.

The problem are you guys. Just look around, one person opened a post that he invested 1000 Dollars for his gear and is crying now because other sad losers can buy it with 50 Dollars. An other dude spent 2k in 2 months and now this person invested 4-5k in a couple of months for this sh*t quality of a game.

"Current State of TERA" ...why does it sound like you are suprised about this outcome?

Just imagine, giving all of your hard worked money into a dying game for a useless company.

Hey Atmorph, release more P2W chests. This ppl deserve it.

P.S. Stop making these Threads if you dont wanna change yourself

"Dont save her, she dont wanna be saved" - J. Cole - No Role Modelz

  • If you mean doing everything right as in screwing literally just about everything up, then sure. I'm sure people would invest more money into the game if they actually fix stuff instead of throwing more costumes at us like we WANT it? Have you noticed the servers haven't even been fixed yet? Or do you not even play the game to know this but just putting your opinion in on the thread, which I respect even though it's wrong. Because the problem is Gameforge not giving us a better experience, both servers are ass right now even if you have decent ping and connection, you'll still Disconnect or lag for no reason. A problem we never had with En Masse.

Yes, people spend money on the game but in hopes that it would get better instead of worse. AM I surprised about the outcome? There's no real way to answer that because there really wasn't any say in how the game was going to go once it went from En Masse to Gameforge, mostly because I've only heard about good things from Gameforge from the people who played EU so I couldn't really say but at this point, it's really just undeniable that it's being killed by the Devs and Publisher. It's not us. I'm also guessing you've also not played enough to witness the decline in population post-migration. Log in, run some dungeons, witness the gameplay experience we've gotten for spending a bit of money on a game because if you didn't notice, a game runs off the money the players spend but that's only if the players enjoy the game enough to say "Hey, let me spend x amount." But who's gonna do that now that the experience isn't getting improved and it's all locked behind a money wall? You're mostly focusing on what Rose and whoever you're talking about spending 2k on a game in your post which isn't the problem here, it's the experience the players are getting. So don't attack people trying to make a change if you can't see the problem.

P.S. That guy you're talking about complaining that he spent $1000 on a the game is probably just someone making a troll post, I've not heard of a single person spending that much money just to gear.

Edited once, last by sirdile ().

  • The problem with pay to win, especially how it's done here in Tera, is that players often have to spend way more than they should in order to be on the same playing field as other players.
Here in Tera, the developers put all kinds of important gear behind loot boxes which don't even guarantee players are getting the item they pay to get.

Even if the loot box DID guarantee you your item, Tera is STILL ripping players off by the sheer costs.

Players should only have to pay about 10-25 US dollars a month on a game like Tera to play and to be on the same playing field as everyone else, but that's not how it is.

Tera is instead constantly creating newer, better items, exclusive to their cash shop, that probably totals up closer to 50-90 US dollars a month for the average player to remain competitive.

The only people who would defend such a trash payment model as pay to win are those who are privileged and wealthy enough to afford it, or those who irresponsibly put their entire savings/debt/life into the game, or those who are paid shills for this type of payment model. Lying to themselves and everyone else about how great this payment model is for their own sick benefits.

Every regular/average player would prefer a simple monthly fee of 10-25 bucks to support the server's maintenance while having the game be completely fair for ALL players.

These are the type of people Tera have eliminated from playing. Average people who are no longer interested in being ripped off, while those who remain are either a few rich bastards, or weird no-lifers who gladly give their life savings to stay competitive in the game, and defend their irresponsible spending habits.

Not to mention eliminating anyone else who can clearly see the countless other terrible game design choices Tera has made over the years.

  • Log in, run some dungeons, witness the gameplay experience we've gotten for spending a bit of money on a game because if you didn't notice, a game runs off the money the players spend but that's only if the players enjoy the game enough to say "Hey, let me spend x amount." Yes you are correct. Normally a company (GF) should satisfy their customers (players). A satisfy customer brings cash.

Sadly we dont have a NORMAL company and we dont have a NORMAL playerbase.

    Lets start with the Company:

I dont know who told u that GF is a good company. They are known as one of the worst Publishers. Before you say: "Hey Kanye how do you know GF is shady?" look around the other games they are currently under Gameforge: Metin 2, Aion,... These games lost a lot of players like TERA and went heavy P2W.

But how do they keep surviving?

Because u are NOT NORMAL players:

The playerbase we have right now are the JUNKIES. Normal players already left a long time ago. Before you say: "Hey Kanye how do you know that we are addicted?" --> Here is an easy example:

Yes, people spend money on the game but in hopes that it would get better instead of worse.

Why should a customer give a company a LOT of cash and HOPE they change the product into something better? A company needs to create a good product so we can pay a LOT of cash.

Gameforge knows that whatever they do, you guys cant live without Tera.

Look at Atmorph. This dude is here over 8 years and the only thing he has done for the community are shop updates.

    Thats Atmorphs work day:

    - Wake up

    - Log in into GF Dashboard

    - Click "Cash made 2021" in Tera:

    Playername: Virgin1 // Cash: 4k

    Playername: Virgin2 // Cash: 2k in 2 months

    Playername: Virgin3 // Cash: 1k

    - Log out from GF Dashboard

    - Go back to sleep

Again mate, you are 100% right. Sadly, this is the reality now.

  • So true, dude haha.
I love how you use the phrase "Junkies" to describe them. Sadly, it's very fitting.

It's sad that those are the types of people keeping this game on life support, but it's not sustainable long-term.

Sooner or later, "poof" will go Tera, just like all the other MMOs ruined by pay to win driving out normal players.

  • the game's garbage yh, it is why it had lost like 90% of it's population if not more xd it's not even tera anymore... this game no longer resemble the old tera at all, i'd say it's some other game full of grind, rng and p2w just the name didn't changed.
