Regarding non migrated accounts characters persistence

  • Are characters from accounts that weren't migrated ever going to be deleted from database?

During one server merge back at enmasse half of my characters got their name taken, and right now i have the option to rename them since they all have invalid names, stuff like "xxxxxxxxx_123445567", however the names i used to have all belong to level 10-20 characters which i doubt did the migration, but still show up currently in the game, probably it's in a character names seller account, since this seemed popular back then. But this just going offtopic from my actual question.

  • Thanks missTao. We are trying it now.

Frankly... this just seems silly and lazy that ALL accounts weren't migrated by default. The fact that we just logged in for Christmas break to find that our characters are gone because we didn't log in before the 18th of December... seems like bad coordination and lack of programming skill on the part of GF.

6 days. We missed this arbitrary deadline... 6 days. Now hundreds of hours and lots of real dollars are gone.

  • Your characters and data weren't lost. Your account (and it's link to your characters) is what was lost. EME couldn't legally give that information to Gameforge without consent from the players - this has nothing to do with laziness or skill. Do you honestly expect EME to stay open and maintain their user database indefinitely just in case someone might decided to come back tomorrow? Or next week? How about next year?

58 days. You had 58 days to migrate your account. EME announced they were closing in August. That's 4+ months warning. Emails were sent. There were announcements on the launcher you had to close before you could click play. You had a 35 day grace period after EME closed down their servers.

I'm sorry you lost your characters, but I'm not sure what exactly you expected GF and EME to do.

  • Data is Data... Data is Cheap.

    Users were not notified.

    So, yeah... I do.

The reality is they didn't try hard enough. 58 days... is nothing! I have hundreds of hours... some have thousands...

We take a break to play other games and... bomb... "Sorry bad timing?!?"

Zero emails on the subject? Zero notice... and you think 58 days is 'enough'??

    It's ridiculous.

  • Entitled much?

58 days to MIGRATE, there was FOUR MONTHS of notice. EME sent out at least 2 sets of emails. There was a notice on the launcher. It was all over their social media. The EME website was nothing but a FAQ on the migration. There was a notice at the top of the forums.

  • I'm not sure what part of "illegal" you didn't understand from Maisee's post, but putting all this complaining aside and arguments which has no bias per Maisee's post, they couldn't transfer your content to another country legally without your consent, thanks to GDPR's bs. So if you'd like to blame anyone, aside from GF, EME, and you don't want to take the blame yourself, you can blame the folks who forced GDPR on any and all marketplaces with any and all presence in the EU market, in or outside of the EU marketplace.

But honestly, you should take the blame yourself. I just happened to be able to login within 3-4 days prior to the shutdown to claim everything and be aware that EME was shutting down. I hadn't touched it in almost a year since. Know who's fault that was? Mine. Know who's fault it would have been if I hadn't checked and ended up migrating? Mine.

  • No one said anything about Illegal. Plenty of options to do it 100% legal without a deadline. Plenty. EME closed... so what? That entity could have easily ... easily been acquired (Among other options)... solely for the purpose of perpetual facilitation without much-added cost.

Has ZERO to do with entitled. All users DID NOT get an email notification. We paid... a lot! Played a lot. That means we paid for the right to be upset.

My friend, they sent out mass emails twice. Albeit the first one went to my Spam, but the second one went straight to my Inbox.

Could EnMasse have done more than these two emails? Certainly, they could have mentioned along with the closure an email about the Closure and to keep an eye out for more information, but if I of all people got these two emails, there's no reason nobody else did either except if you didn't have access to the email, in which case is a 'you' problem, not EME. They let everyone who had an account at the time know, whether you knew or not is entirely up to you.
