Cannot take master cooking test at 65. Cannot fish for filets!

  • I'm a returning players after several years and have several level 65 characters. I want to master cooking on one of them but cannot.

First of all, I hit 500 in cooking and it will not allow me to learn a 500 recipe, which was my original goal. So I need to master it. I started the test but cannot do it because I need to fish to get the Fillets. I CANNOT fish until level 68. But it says everywhere that you can fish at any level. AND cannot use bait until level 67.

SO WHAT IS IT, any level, level 67, or level 68????? I've spent well over 15 hours trying everything I know of and cannot craft above 499! It say 500 but its not! And to advance I need to be level 68 so I can fish. WTF???

Any advice? All I want to do right now is be able to craft a level 500 recipe that it says I don't qualify for, even though I'm 500 and level 65. AND please advise me on how to advance beyond 500 at level 65 without fishing? OR how the hell do I fish at level 65 for the Fillets?

  • I think raising fishing to level 67 or 68 was part of the grand strategy to make fishing completely useless combat fish-botting.

Then again, a bunch of level 65 quests got bumped to level 68, so maybe fishing just went along for the ride.

Basically, level 68 is the new level 65.

  • I guess you're right.

Since my wife and I really enjoy crafting in MMO's, she'll never play this game. We enjoy playing together so she'd have to level to 68 just to start enjoying it. Guess I'll bail too since it's pretty much destroyed since we played last.

But thanks for the reply anyway.

  • Oh, btw, I have another related question if you don't mind?

I ONLY need to get to 500 cooking to make what I want. I hit 500 but it won't recognize it. It will NOT let me learn a level 500 recipe when I AM 500. It says I'm not. What's up with that?

  • Crafting skill 500 recipes also require you to complete the Artisan test.

TBH getting to level 68 isn't hard. The game pretty much holds your hand all the way there. You can do it in a week playing really casually; faster if you put more time into it.

  • Well, I've played for 2 days now, probably about 8-10 hours and I can barely see the progression bar. lol. I think I've acquired about "maybe" 300k exp and I need almost 2.4 billion to advance just to 66. Don't know how I'm going to do this? It'll take me months or longer and I just want to craft ( cooking ).

This game was MUCH more fun when we played it years ago. We loved the crafting in it. Now, not so much.

Thanks for all the info. Take care.

  • the progress between lv 65 and lv 68 is actually the story quest, which should take some 30minutes to my knowledge

the moment you reach lv 65 you should get "[Apex] Velika Banquet"
the moment you did the above, you obtain "The Nightmare begins" which boosts you to lv 68

  • If you're bailing the game because you can't craft before lv.68 it's not really Tera's fault.
Even taking the long road of questing it takes no more than a week to reach level 70 and the game kinda starts at that point. I mean, before that it's just a glorified training mode which is kinda cool the first time you do it so i'm not saying it's useless, but it's not the game you're gonna play later except for the combat system and general mechanics.

Reach lv.70 and you'll be able to gather/craft/sell some stuff if you enjoy doing so. Fishing is not a great source of golds but for beginners fishing while afk can be surely useful.

You should be more worried about wether you want or not to grind for endgame content after lv.70

    ^ ^ This.

The story quest starting at level 65 gives you all the xp you need to get from 65 to 68 and doesn't take very long.

Even faster, does Macellarius Catacombs still drop 1 billion xp worth of xp potions per run? (You should at least still do the Apex quest if you choose to go this route)
