1. How long ago was the last time you started the game before this problem occurred?
2. Does the computer you are trying to run the game on have a 64-bit OS?
3. Have all the required drivers been updated and the specifications meet the minimum requirements?

In this case, simply reinstall the game (completely, yep) and then do not install any mods in the folders.
