Any dps class is welcome in the game, just pick the one with who you have the most fun!

Ninja or gunner are both fine, i myself prefer gunner than ninja, so i could always change race beetween elf-casta-elin.
But if you ask about what people want for endgame, the answer is more beetween tank or heal classes.
If you still want to play damage dealer, you might want to pick Warrior or Brawler (or Berserker?^^).
At the end, just like Andrea mentioned, you have to choose class that you really enjoy to play with, no matter which class they are! (ps: some classes becoming really fun to play with when they reach lvl 70).
