I think most people don't even know how much gold this guy made everyday with his bots.
This is by far the best change they could do.

as for gold...yeah..but that comes down to just how many gold sinks we get in the near future, if anythnig i feel bad for the legit fishers that spent a lot of getting the maxed out rods

Legit players don't deserve having wasted 1,3/5M-ish gold in upgrading their fishing rods all the way to the max.

It's kinda sad that some legit players did indeed get screwed by farming the tokens to even upgrade their rods for literally no reasons, since the ticket's shop really doesn't give anything you can even resell. On top of that, the servers are still lagging at times and dungeons are pretty hard to proc with IM, so even spamming vanguards is kinda hard to do.
Looks like I won't be buying my feedstock anytime soon.

I literally just started fishing one week ago and it is super fun. I upgraded and bought whiskers to tier 3 and now all of a sudden fishing is completely useless because you can't make any money out of it anymore? HOW is that a good move? I don't think it's fair that legit players like me get screwed over because they are incapable of dealing with bots? Fishing isn't even the best way of getting money in this game.
That change is just insane to me. Also, I never experienced any lag due to bots or fishers whatsoever.

The consumeable shop is by far better than the gold you'd get, i don't know why so many people consider fishing worthless now. Before the change fishing was actually worse

This is more about gold inflation than lag. Fishing bots caused TT to go up to 1:2000.

Well, it was good to earn 10-12k+ gold while you've been AFK for a few hrs, we (players w/o proxy), do not play the game for fishing, but the income is income, everyone needs some +gold 
BUT instead of punishnig everyone because of as****** who are fish-boting it would be easier AND FAIRER to :
- make the fish ONLY SALABLE to the Association Fishmonger
- make the fish UNSALABLE to all the others merchants
- make the fish filet/kirash filet UNSALABLE to all the merchants
And JUST LIKE THAT, people who are fish-boting have it in the a**, people who are legit-fishing are not injured, AND rope/bait/design/pet/etc. re-find their usefulness.
