Requesting an option to obtain unobtainable cards

  • Dear Gameforge, dear Bluehole Studios and of course dear players,

With the recent changes to dungeons and leveling which removed a lot of dungeons to streamline the process of going from level 65 to 70 and gearing up I feel like it's time to bring up the implicit impact it had on a different system: The Card Collection.

Right from the get go as the system was released in EU, one card was unobtainable right from the start by its intended mean: Maknakh. A worldboss that was planned and scrapped in Korea and as such never even saw the light of day in EU. But hey, during the first event which awarded the Moonlight Elin cards we were able to buy both uncommon and common random card boxes for event tokens, which means there was at least a limited supply of those cards and of course, the fact that uncommon random card boxes can still be gotten via real money means at least in that regard a supply might remain. I won't brush upon the fact that uncommon cards are far more common than common cards because of this and the atrocious drop rates of trying to actually farm them by normal means, that'd likely warrant its own thread.

Instead, my goal is to bring up and hopefully get a solution to the fact that many more cards cannot be gotten anymore with the removal of a lot of dungeons.

Gaaruksalk, gone with the removal of TR. Dark Reach Citadel roof, obviously vanished with the removal of Dark Reach Citadel as well. Just to name a few.

Of course it has been hinted at the fact that these dungeons might make a return (I faintly recall some statement about dungeons not getting removed and then reopened again. Anyone...?) so sure, there might be a possibility in the far future to obtain these cards again. This, however, is not a solution in my book as I feel like they shouldn't be gated by time nor by a paywall (thus, including the newest cards like Sonya, Kaia, Fraya but also the Moonlight Elin cards) but instead should be available to every player. Maybe not easily, but it should be possible at the very least.

So in essence, I could see two potential solutions to this whole conundrum:

    1) Adjust loot tables.

Sure, it may not make the most sense to drop a DRC card in AQ for example, but it would make the cards farmable technically and would allow the option to gate more useful cards behind harder dungeons such as FA or CS.

    2) Tokens.

Because we just love carrying around 50 different kinds of tokens to exchange for goodies. But jokes aside, this'd basically be sort of a "perma event" route where a special token drops in all - or a selected few - dungeons and those can then be exchanged for cards (or even common random boxes), alternatively instead of an extra item it could also be added to the vanguard shop.

Both would suffice to create a steady supply of cards which is all I am trying to get to with this and as such I hope BHS will be able to implement some changes or our fellows at gameforge might even have the liberty to make regional adjustments in this regard. Until then I'll keep angrily glaring at my 99% completion spoiled by the lack of white maknakh cards.

    So long, cheers~

  • It would really be a good idea to be able to have some kind of token tradable for a card of our choice.

As for the way to obtain it, I'll really like if we could have it by dismantling cards we don't need (AQ cards wich everyone has hundred of them, and even more, cards you get from exodor story quests. It would at leat give a goal to do exodor story quest on alts).
