Leveling process changed

  • Did the leveling process changed since last patch? I can't seem to find any information in the patch notes...

I seem too not get relic weapons anymore doing dungeons and I am now level 39 with a level 12 weapon...

My friend notes that at level 60 you do no longer get the storyline quest too do the skycruiser etc, how are you supposed too level 60-65 now?

  • Well lvl 60-62 do the story quest.

Then from 63 its a pain between corpus, kelsaik (20min cooldowns).

But as soon as ur 64, simply fish for 3hrs (if u have a nice rod)

  • Before Patch you could do alone Ebon Tower from 58-65 with ep potion around 6 runs without any cooldown. Did they change it? 1 week ago i leveled a characters this way

This method still works for what it's worth.

  • EDIT: Got to 33 and realised just how much they have removed from the game. Should have read the patch notes. My bad. Back tomorrow after the Level 68 daily run.

OK so yesterday I started another character when I wasn't playing my main 68 and today I picked up the char again and just got to Level 41. Thing is that now you only do story quests as they are the only quests that give XP for levelling. Bit of a shocker that I found out at 30. So I totally ignore all the yellow quests and just stick with the red.

Following story quests gifts you weapons. You also pick up relic fragments that let you enchant your weapon. You also get gear suited to your level so you never like struggle. Also to progress stories you have to do dungeons solo. I just completed Cultist Refuge and picked up two Level 38 Mageia Sceptors. So you do get weapons but not the ones that you had to assemble from relic fragments that you collected previously.

The game has made questing in zones pretty pointless. Unless you want some gold and other stuff. But no XP. Also gear follows a simple level format. I noticed from gear I had in the bank from previous chars the stats for the green stuff is better than supposedly higher grade previous gear. There are extra stats.

Levelling XP is bonkers. I just went through two levels in Cultist and its not uncommon to do a whole level from handing in a single quest. Trouble is that the game is a linear bore fest now cus you have pretty much no control over the way you level. Dunno why they don't just make it into an AFK fishing process. Feels like that. Way to go destroying the game. Was quite an eye opener when I discovered I wasn't getting any XP from general quests. I wonder how many players are blindly questing thinking they are earning XP and not realising the XP bar isn't moving. I did the whole of the Celestail Hills chain quest and then clocked the XP bar didn't move when I handed in the final quest.

Anyway, hope that answers your question. My guess is that you have to be on the solo red quest to get the gear drop from dungeons. As to that last point about the skyquest thingy you would probably need to have completed all the quests before to unlock the quest so maybe they have to go back a few quests and finish them off. Dunno.

  • Yeah, the real deal is 65-70 now anyway, mainly in the form of grinding BAMs/Same dungeons for hundreds of hours per level.

~ Beat your addiction and stop playing TERA! It's not worth your precious time... ~

  • Been leveling a Valk and I'll soon be 65 still with the old level 38 avatar weapon.

    Amazing new player experience BTW

  • I liked the cbt/p2p leveling. Sure it took some time .. But it was fun. Bams where Bams in those days.

Old saravash was extremly fun with rnds :elin9:

Two questions come to mind. First is if you are a new player how do you have an old avatar weapon. And second, why are you using a Level 38 weapon any way. You get new weapons chucked at you all the time if you do the story quests.

I got to 54 in a day yesterday with a new char and my weapon gifted me thro the game is close on that level. Maybe you like using old weapons dunno. Only takes a couple of days to get to 65. Its the 65-70 thats the pain. But hey you get a good weapon at 65 .. I would avoid trying to use the 38 on 65+ mobs. Pretty pointless.

  • I have heard the (60-65)65-70 is the best level experience this game ever had. So its only logical to completely destory the 1-60 part of the game.

Since endgame is the best part of this game to spend your money on.. or waste your time..

If you want to farm ingame-gold .. Just get some work or extra shifts.. Its much faster then fishing and other crap.

So you need to not play the game to play the game  Fantastic ..

Yes I've only been registered here since 2012 I'm a total newbie.

I only level through dungeons and dungeons do not chuck wewapons at you all the time :elin8:

Pretty much you can level up to 65 with no weapon drops from instances, with the starting level 12+3 weapon.

38 to new gear set may be the same difference from HO+3 to the new gear set, so maybe it won't be that bad not to change right? :elin22:

When you complete A NEW THREAT you are asked to go visit Sier and then do battle in his chambers. You are advised of The New Threat and given the teleport scroll that takes you to the Outskirts of Velika for the quest Supplies and Demand which takes you onto the SkyCruiser I assume as I've done this over half a dozen times. I am currently 60.5 and using a level 58 NightSpindle weapon. Took me about a day and a half of play inbetween playing my main 68.6. The scroll you get is the Airport Platform Teleport Scroll.... OK I'm collecting Emberbloom Flowers.. so I need to get on. Seems no problem but hey. Onward to 65.

    FINAL UPDATE

OK took me two days to get to 65 and then I was gifted nominal weapons and gear which I upgraded and got to item level 433. Sadly I didn't get the second post of stuff that I got with my previous characters. I have just the one quest which is Island of Dawn but that pays no XP so I won't be doing that. I have been asked to do a dungeon quest which I will pass on also. So I am standing in Highwatch with nothing to do and no quests in the log. There are a couple of event quests but really not interested. So that was that 1 to 65 in 2 days and then nothing to do, or so it appears. I did the Echoes dungeon but it bugged out again as it always seems to. Pretty pointless also. Nothing even makes a dent in the XP... as I am too well familiar.

So I shelved the character and will again focus on my Level 68.6 and carry on with my 2% each day on the XP bar and just mind numbing boring daily stuff. Never mind. 1 to 65 was a hoot and a half. Everything from that point is so dreary. What is worse is that my Mystic was actually able to do real damage up to 65 and then it just dies... sad that. Tera is really a game for 1 to 65 if you like the actual open world content and a good story. After that its just daily stuff and dungeons. Such a shame.

So I did the new levelling process and it kinda feels like playing a computer game on cheat mode. You just zonk through the story quests avoiding any yellow quests. You get weapons and gear suited to your level and it was real easy. Mobs just fell over in dungeons, wasn't even worth the effort. The path is pretty linear and for the most part like I say like watching a film on fast motion. And then reality strikes as you hit the brick wall of 65, cus there is like zero continuity. In truth it just is so blunt it makes you simply stop dead in your tracks. Specially if you are still struggling levelling another character at 68 like me. Cus you know what's coming.

    Anywhooo thats it.
