How do you gain XP after level 65

  • Do you have to buy into the game to gain XP after 65. I've been doing every Vanguard quest, dungeon, mission, killing ten of this and ten of that and I have gotten zero XP the bar hasn't moved. I kinda was ready to give up yesterday but today again I did my dungeons, arena champions things, vanguard quests and missions plus the Isle of Dawn kill ten of this ten of that endlessly and there has been no reward with XP.

So how do you earn XP in the game cus I'm getting absolutely none from what I am doing at the moment. Seems really pointless to me.

  • Hey Mayku,

after reaching 65, lvling is much-much slower, which is intended, so gotta accept that. You have a couple of options tho to gain some xp.

    • Spamming high-end dungeons
      • Depending on your gear, you can farm higher end dungeons (RKE, GLSH, ...)
    • Bam farming
      • If you are the grinder type of player, you can solo farm or team up with someone to kill bams in the daily quest areas (like basilisks in Sienna Canyon, ...)
    • Daily quests
      • You could/should complete your daily quests beside the options above. After completing the lvling story quest on 65, you should have daily/green quests in Tria and Tralion. Complete them everyday if you wanna get the max out of your xp gain, or if youre not rly into dungeons.

There are quite a few more ways, but this should get you started. 8)

  • Hey Mayku

the RED-Story Quests give alot of exp, and the Daily-Green Quest even more.

  • This is a new character and hit Level 65 a few days ago. Since then I have done as many Vanguard Quests that I can do plus Olivenas Cooking. Mostly I have been killing stuff on Island of Dawn. I have only one other quest in my log and that is Thaumetal Refinery which is a dungeon. I am able to do Baracos Trial but cannot complete Lilith Keep cus the fire horse kills my thral instantly and then I can never do enough damage before I have to refresh him and or heal myself so I gave up.

The blue bar must have been ever so slightly increasing but so small as not to be noticable. I have been checking the numbers and they go up very slightly. Having calculated how much it has gone up these last three days I have now calculated it will take me a year to get to Level 66. Given it took me less than a day to get from 60 to 65 you gotta say this is a bit long.

I don't have any green quests other than Vanguard and there are none in Highwatch or Essenia or anywhere else on my map. I have only the cooking, that one dungeon and the Vanguard quests which I do the ones marked solo. There is nothing else. I can do other than that arena challenge but all of it at the moment just seems to be go kill ten of this large creature. I have done the Echo one a few times but thats really quite tedious now.

So where do I get these other green quests ? All I have tomorrow is the final bit of that cooking challenge on Island of Dawn. I even tried crafting and gathering to see if that helped but I get no XP from that. I did actually go to Tria and try a couple of the stone things but for me and the thral it was impossible. I am in the gear given to me at 65. I have enchanted as high as I can but have now run out of gold. Its actually very hard to be honest finding things to do. There doesn't seem to be any story related questing at this level, just the daily items I have done so far. So any help would be appreciated.

  • You need to reach Itemlevel 439. After that you get a Storyquest which gives your class apex skills.

If you finish this Questline you get another Questline introducing to the newest Content. You get Daily Quest after doing the New Story Quest.

You get new Dailies and Story Quest after every level except lvl 70

    Lvl 65 Storyquest + 3 Yellow Quest + 10 daily quest

Lvl 66 Storyquest + 3 Yellow Quest + 4 additonal daily Quest (14 total daily)

Lvl 67 Storyquest + 3 Yellow Quest + 4 additonal daily Quest (18 total daily)

Lvl 68 Storyquest + 3 Yellow Quest + 4 additonal daily Quest (22 total daily)

Lvl 69 Storyquest + 3 Yellow Quest + 4 additonal daily Quest (26 total daily)

    Dailies gives around 2,5 - 10 % depending on level (2,5 on level 69).

Most of the time you level via Bam grind (but it's only really worth with Tera Club 100% XP passive and daily 100% increased XP Pot). Without that i wouldn't even think about start grinding.

If you do dailies + grinding with TERA Club you get around 5 - 6% XP on Lvl 69 (it's a little bit more on the lower levels)

If you do this on daily basis you reach Level 70 in around 3 weeks.

But you only need to reach Level 68 for now since there is no know Dungeon which needs higher level than 68. (i expect lvl 68 coming end of may, early june).

Lvl 1 - 65 was a piece cake but we have lvl 70 for around 1 month now. So it's basically new so ofc it takes longer. 1 - 60 in the past took atleast 3 - 4 weeks if you were a newb

  • I am gear level 434 currently so will up that to 438 and see how I get on. Not sure how to be honest but hey I'll have a go,

I have been playing since just after launch. I have seven Level 65 chars which I levelled to 60 to 65 this last two weeks. Previous to that I had way more characters but gave up after the first merge when I was forced to delete over half my characters including all the items that I had purchased for them. I was regularly subbed into the game but was so unhappy at the time I gave up.

A few days ago I purchased another character slot and levelled to 65 in a couple of days. This is the character I have now. I am weighing up again whether to sub here as I am a hardened WoW player with 50 chars there and many at 120 at high item level but am getting sick of BfA. I also play Archeage but since Trion went pop and so many merges and losing land I have lost heart there also.

I do have the time to play as much as I like. But Tera seems a little disjointed after 65 and I am struggling to find meaningful things to do. I am kinda troubled also at the prospect of doing all this again on my other characters. From the XP rewards so far I can't see how you can ever level to 66 in the time you state even with the boosts. I have a number of those gifted to me and still have a mail box full of goodies and gifts from years of playing.

I'll give it a go. I do like Tera but I also like purpose in what I do in terms of interesting content and not just a grind fest. Just not seeing anything really interesting to do at the moment. Anyway thanks for the help. I will see how I can upgrade the gear I was given. Can't afford the Trade Broker prices for anything... nothing new there.

    Onwards.

    ....... EDIT UPDATE

So I did the cooking quests and killed everything on Isle of Dawn. I then plundered what I could and finally upgraded the gear to 439 and did the Velika Banquet quest. I was then sent to Essenia and spent a very annoying chain of kill fests involving mostly dragons. I can tell you playing Mystic with little fire power and a thral that dies the minute you sneeze on it... added to the fact it will not hold aggro... its no fun. OK if you are tanked up and have a good weapon, but in cloth and running around with just enough time to heal its not enjoyable. Anyway I freed all the prisoners and I am back up at Firemount. And to the left are the same mobs as on the right except the very same mobs are now Level 68. I am Level 65. So that's that then.. Have to come back in two years at this rate.

Thanks for the help but this is going to take forever, and for me its not really very enjoyable, especially as a Mystic. The XP bar has barely moved at all today. The Essenia quest chain didn't appear to move the XP bar at all. Like I say, maybe mine is broken. Either way not going to happen.

    Thanks anyway.

  • Once you complete those Apex quests, you'll see your firepower go up.

I run a mystic as my main and have set up 2 sets of glyphs, 1 for healing a party, the other which I use mostly is all crit and damage while soloing. Obviously doing those Apex quests, you don't need a lot of party stuff glyphed so use the points for skill damage and cool downs. you'll need those anyhow once you get to Tria and go after the storyline there that takes you to 66.

Another usefull way to gain XP is to craft and fish. You'll need to gather mats for crafting gets you XP as well.

    Best of luck

  • Hi

My saviour has been fishing in truth. I also did decide to go the crafting route. I did the Apex quest to the one on Fyrmount with the dragons up by the instance but as a mystic just can't kill them. They take out my thral instantly and then all I do is heal. My item level is now 433 and I created a set of Frostmetal. I just now need to get my proficiency in processing to 500 so I can create the Golden Daric. The broker prices are just too high. I have kinda given up on daily quests as they just don't give enough reward.

So its fishing and crafting and gathering and I have now completed two bars... on the XP bar whoo hoo.

Big news is that I subscribed back into the Tera club so I can get the production boost with the 1000 pts. Also great having the Spectral Tail to fly around with. I have now got a regime and its working. I did nearly three quarters of a bar today... incredible. Just 8 to go to 66. Mostly I want to enchant fully the Frostmetal so I can go kick those dragon thingies and finish that Apex quest.

Anyhoo... I'm good to go. I did the fishing quests and didn't realise you could leave your character on autopilot. I am actually enjoying treking around all the map getting materials for crafting. And now we have the cooking and fishing its made things more interesting. I also bagged a few costumes so I'm OK now. I use to play Tera a lot and loved it to death. So see how I get on.
