How to catch a crayfish!??

    Ive been trying to proceed on the fishing tutorial quest "fishing is fun" and im stuck already in the first mission. The one you need to catch a crayfish in the muricai fishery.


    3 days! ive been fishing and fishing with no luck. Ive wasted about 400 baits, no kidding, and counting. lol. At this point, i started to wondering if something has happened.


    With my other alts, before the last patch never had big problems catching one in the first run, or the second at most.



    Did they removed the crayfish or something? how im supossed to catch one? at this rate, it will be a week trying to advance in this dumb quest.


    I mean, come on guys, if it is part of a quest, place a limit where the game will automatically give a crayfish to the player. Its not so hard. I get RNG, but this is ridiculous.

    Just tried at lake of tears fishery
    used xermetal rod I and bait I and caught a crayfish so should be still in the game


    You may be using a rod or bait that is too high level?

    I usually catch angelfish, squid, crucian carp, etc, everything usual except crayfish, and they should come up in the mix as well. Maybe they removed em from the muricai fishery? i just cant keep spending gold on baits for all eternity lol.


    Im using the slpahing ash rod II and the angler whisper's mask, thats all. But in any case, as i said, before the last patch i didnt have any problems with my other characters using xermetal and another slaping ash rod. Now after basically almost a hundred runs i still need to see a crayfish...

    It's because the fish is T1 and you rod is only for T2 to T4 fishes ... This is why you will never catch it again. Just buy a T1 Rod from merchant

    You can catch the crayfish (tier 1 fish) only by using an old rod or a tier 1 rod (any type). You're a using a tier 2, which is unable to catch tier 1 fishes.

    Yup i figured it out. In my other charactares i switched from xermetal rod to ash rod after i completed the tutorial. I forgot about that.


    But what i dont get is, why cant we catch low tier fishes with ALL rods? the description of the rod doesnt say that it only works only on some fishes...(it only says that you have xxx extra chance to catch a bigger one) i find it very ridiculous to say the least. lol. Also this should be specified in the fishing tutorial mission. Its curious anyways, that you can catch MANY T1 fishes with that rod but not cryfish... it just doesnt make any sense.

    In german Client the catchable fishes are listed. Also catching all fishes with higher rod would be stupid since it would make it too rng to catch fishes

    That would make sense. Each rod for some specific fished LISTED in the description. Problem is, we dont have that. So we need to figure out these things on the fly.


    The ash rod is not "higher" than the xermetal or the other one, it only has a different roll. Thats all. We must assume that "extra chance to catch a big ass fish" means, you cant catch certain fishes from tier 1... lol.

    Look closely at the description on the rod. I marked that part as reference in this screenshot:

    Yup i know about that but i never understood whats the meaning. The crayfish as far as i understand is tier 1, the xermetal rod says tier 2-4 and the ash rod says exactly the same.Or does it mean something else?

    All rods bought from the vendor for 10 tokens should catch tier 1-3 fish I believe? If yours says tier 2-4 fish then you must have upgraded it to xermetal II and you can no longer catch tier 1 fish (crayfish) with it.

    Erm, thats the main problem. The xermetal upgraded to tier 2 says exactly the same as the ash rod upgraded to tier 2. Both are eligible to catch tier 2-4 fishes. . .But the main issue here is that there is not a single clue on the mission description that will make you realize that you can ONLY catch a crayfish with a xermetal rod, because of, well.. reasons lol.

    There dont need to be a description. If you just started as a newbie fishing you can only have T0 Rod. You can't skip tiers. For the first upgrade you need anglers token and you can only get hem via fishing.

    Yes, there should be. Because you know, most people have alt characters that will probably not use the tier 0 one. But you are missing the point here. Whats the difference between the xermetal rod and the ash rod? the description says exactly the same at tier 1. Crayfish is a tier 1 fish, it should be available to catch with the ash rod tier 1 no matter what. If you can do it with the xermetal rod, that its the same in this matter, you should be able to do it with the ash one.

    You get get Old Fishing Rod from Quest NPC and 10 bait telling you: "Here, take that stuff and catch me a crayfish". No need to use overpowered fishing rods for an alt :)
