Patcher and ieSnare (iovation)

  • I have malware protection at the network level. Known bad or fishy domains are blocked and this includes all iovation domains (iesnare, mpsnare, iovation, etc).

In order to get the patcher to enable the "Play" button, I have to turn this off temporarily or I get an "Unknown Error" (Checking logs shows a blocked mpsnare.iesnare.com attempted connection)

I just have to ask if this particular behavior is known. If it is known, does it fall within the regulations of the GDPR?

  • Nothing? Figured someone would know something. Can probably submit a GDPR complaint and have them resolve it. Would hope for a response from the company first. I know iovation's purpose as a transactional fraud "preventer" but it has no business with my interactions of logging into the game.

  • Hello,

I'm sorry but for such specific questions you probably have to contact support.

What I found out about TERA using iovation comes from Enmasse, but is probably valid in EU too.

A little bit about Iovation. It's a service we use to track and identify banned players and fraudulent users (like people who use stolen credit cards), preventing them from logging back into the game or making new accounts.

"The black dress was fringed by countless laces and frills. These outlines of her were enfolded by metallic protectors on the back of her hands and a rustic tasset. Her looks reminded one of the ceremonial robes of medieval knights—an odd mixture that could be called neither dress nor armour. And finally, where normally there might have been a ribbon, she was wearing an old, metallic chest."
