Lagging all the time....

  • Is there any way to solve lag issues? It is insane because sometimes it gets 1000ms. I tried the windows defender trick and the registry trick but they did not work... When does it come from this lag? From tera o steam???

Btw, is there any way to monitor the ping in tera? Otherwise, could you provide me some tricks?

  • Not sure if it's related but some people experience heavy lagg spikes when using noctenium. Try not using any kind and bank them just in case. Steam shouldn't be the problem as it's just a platform where you can start Tera from. It can only cause issues if it's downloading stuff in the background but that shouldn't be happening as they'll be turned off once any game is running from your library.

If you want to monitor your network activity, even task manager can do that. Obviously it won't tell you your ping but shows you if there's a sudden spike in your network. If no such thing happens then it's either their server or other routing problems. :c

  • type cmd in your windows search bar and run the program shown. then type ping www.google.de -t
this will send a ping to the german google server every few seconds. When you want to know the summary just press ctrl+c.
Then if the ping in cmd is bad too then it's your connection if not it's something else. Also I recommend the german google server since the tera servers are also in germany.

  • Use winmtr (free) or pingplotter (trial).

On host on winmtr type account.tera.gameforge.com (ip address of gf). Lat 2 hops are gf servers. Check the ones above. If the issue is on initial hops then is your isp router or box on street at fault.
If the issue presents on later hops then you got rerouted by isp for some reason and got the bad luck falling in a crappy hop. Vpn sort these things. Ask gameforge if you can use one (although considering what shitload of hacks people use why would they ban vpns...)
