GameForge when you will do something about PROXY & HACK in your game ?

  • Okay lets just imagine if proxy was removed from the game. What now?


    Alot of the players that play the game dont come on the forums, the forums are not an accurate representation of the community, I say this because when I played this game actively I never checked the forums except one time to complain about how hard it was to get master enigmatic scrolls as a new player.
    People that are actively on the forums are players that are mad at the game, inactive, about to quit or already quit or just looking for news, something alone those lines.
    Basically forums do not represent the full community.
    Lots of people that actually play the game, play the game and do not come on the forums.


    Proxy was already mainstream, players used skill prediction due to hing ping or wanting to be relevant, any competitive player most likely uses proxy as it makes rotations faster and smoother. I would say a large percentage of players used proxy for this reason as tera is a very ping dependant game and using proxy helps them with their high ping problems.


    Now proxy is removed and they have gotten used to having that good ping experience what are they going to do? Maybe they will come on the forums complaining about having bad ping? A problem that was solved with proxy. Removing proxy only caused another problem in this department if you look at the bigger picture.


    Lets look at the good side of removing proxy though, no more 1 shotting with certain skills, teleporting all over the place or going under the map etc. But the thing is only a very small percentage of players abused these scripts, no sane player would touch these as the risk of getting banned is quite high.


    So really is it worth it to remove proxy just to solve a problem that is a minority while causing another problem that is for the majority.


    Making updates based on OPs opinion a player that hasn't cleared any end game content is like the equivalent of riot games making updates based on a bronze league players opinion which is blasphemy really.

    So far i crashed : 2 times against Tsunami, 2 times against Score, 2 times at Piccoli Tower weeks ago when their raid was there, 1 time at Khaganate tower when their raid was there last week. In at least 5 of these exemples an other dozen of people was crashing with me.


    Am i gonna accuse any of these guys that they're using a tool to crash me / us? No. Why? Because game is just not optimized at all and we all know it. Did people from my guild accuse these guys to use a tool to crash us? Maybe once, but we instantly told the dude that he was probably wrong.


    Do i have a bad PC? No. As i said, game just can't handle when there is 80+, 100+ players fighting at the same spot. Easy to understand.


    People crash from every guild, even Codex. Time to suck it up and eventually get better at PvP during CU and stop looking for excuses.

  • You realize that if someone from e.g. Codex or whatever guild (I don't care) was hacking to crash people, some of his guild would also crash, right? At best just find the one guild which is "common" to all encounters and then you probably find where the hacker is. (well, if that's even a thing, not saying it is; other drama is pointless)


    Also lol at suggestions before, typical benox, seems some people just never learn. Ban node.exe because someone decided to write the proxy in stupid javascript? Seriously? ****ing backwoods logic.


    So if the proxy dev wasn't so lazy and made a real .exe app in C++ instead, you'd ban Windows itself, since it can run .exe files which can be potential hacks? Or what?


    Or you could suggest sensible solutions like, idk, fixing the game instead so exploits aren't possible.

  • Because we're currently the best PvP guild in terms of fighting and people just need to find an excuse. Thanks to the whole proxy shit getting out of hands, it gives them a perfect excuse for it. Meanwhile there is still no proofs.


    I mean, anyone can do the same. The only difference is the scale of the accusation. Here we have people accusing a whole guild of something that doesn't exist. People used to blame the gear difference, the class balance and now the fashion is with all the proxy accusations, simple as that. I could go to VO right now, get beaten by X person and accuse him of using proxy even tho I have no proofs.


    @Borsuc It's obviously not a thing, you should be aware of it since you're around for a while now, unless i'm mistaken. Game has bad optimization, we all know that. CU map has a slightly better optimization in terms of FPS because it's like an instance area and they got rid of all the Velika NPCs and some stuff like the banks counters, crafting stations etc... But apparently it doesn't prevent people from crashing when there is a huge mass of people at the same spot.
    It's nothing more but people looking for excuses.

  • You keep repeating the "bad game optimization, dc", but you forget old Nexus, with tons of people spamming skills, but with only few random dc around.

  • Yeah, the only issue back then was to have 5 - 10 FPS during Nexus.


    Between Nexus and our days they added 5 new classes with a bunch of stupid "shiny" animations. Back in the days the only kinda "annoying" one was Hailstorm, i think i can even remember people telling sorcers to not use it because it was causing "lags". Bunch of patches that did not necessarly improve the whole thing, just to give an exemple : people been complaining about FPS issues since the last patch got released, it was maybe only in the instances but that just shows how things can get worse through the years. Even tho people would think the situation gets better.

  • I just want to say, that there is another MMO out here, where it also suffers from heavy use of 3rd party programs, with one specifically which is used for PvP, to have as a feature client lag.


    I can provide name of game and program, if it's not going to be moderated.


    It's not GameForge's game, but NCsoft.

    There's no solution other than fixing the game and server, which I've stated so many times by now including in that post. What you said can't even be called a solution, it's pathetic. It's like banning (for example) Windows 7 because most proxy abusers use that as OS to run their hacks. Or maybe .NET framework too if some hack was coded in C#.


    And no, the analogy is not far off at all, in fact it's spot on. Nodejs has absolutely nothing to do with cheating, hacking, or even games (much less MMOs) in the first place. Literally. Such "solution" is just beyond dumb (note quotes). As if one guy's decision to code a hack in a given language or platform makes the platform "a hacking tool", laughable.

    So Easy... "fixing" its pathetic too.


    A software like gameguard check lot of process, if you have 1 listed process running on your computer you cant start the game. This type of anti cheat software can be update often... this is a concret solution !

  • Its not just one shots. Skill prediction is causing so way too many desyncs in PvP. Hopefully they fix everything.
