The upcoming dungeon patch will be installed on our servers on Thursday, 24th July 2014. In the final of our series of previews we'll be covering the new items which can make you fitter and stronger.
Two new item types
This patch will introduce two further types of items: brooches and belts. Additional slots have been added to the profile (P) to equip them in:
Belts
Belts increase your defense and balance modifiers, making you able to withstand more punishment. They can also give you further bonuses which increase your HP, power or critical hit rate.
You can either pick up belts in the new instances (Rift's Edge (Normal/Hard), Abscess (Hard)) or buy them from reputation merchants in the Zulfikar Fortress for Agnitor Credits.
Brooches
Brooches increase your attack and impact modifiers, making your attacks stronger. They can also give you further bonuses which increase your critical hit rate, HP, MP, power or monster aggro.
Brooches can either be bought from reputation merchants in the Zulfikar Fortress for Agnitor Credits, looted from monsters in instances or made via armorcrafting:
- You can only receive two levels of one variety of the brooch from the Agnitor merchants.
- You can loot three varieties of novice brooch from instances:
- One variety for tanks which generates 3% more aggro
- One variety for damage dealers which increases power by +1
- One variety for healers/damage dealers which increases the critical hit rate by +2
- Armorcrafting can produce three levels of three varieties of brooch:
- One variety for tanks which generates 3%, 6% or 12% more aggro
- One variety for damage dealers which increases power by +1, +2 or +3
- One variety for healers/damage dealers which increases the critical hit rate by +2, +4 or +6
Designs for crafting brooches cannot be bought from merchants. Instead they can only be looted from enemies in the new instances.
Some brooches have additional effects which you can activate by moving the brooch from your profile into your skills bar:
- Agnitor brooches can remove a negative effect from you.
- Damage dealer brooches of the highest level increase your power by 40 for 15 seconds.
- Healer/Damage dealer brooches increase your critical hit rate by 50 and your attack speed by 12% for 15 seconds.
- Tank brooches have no additional effects.
New tier 15 items
This update will increase the maximum item tier from 14 to 15. As a result, weapons and armor items from the new instances will be tier 15 and thus require tier 15 sacrifice items for enchantments. You'll similarly get these from the enemies in the new instances.
Dismantling tier 14 equipment
Starting with this patch you'll have the option of dismantling tier 14 items and use the resulting Forge Stoke to craft tier 15 items.
For that you'll need the Fortnight Sledgehammer which can be bought for gold from normal merchants. Right-click on the hammer, choose a tier 14 item (only gold or blue weapons, armor, gloves and shoes) and you will smash it into Forge Stoke. Right-click the Forge Stoke to open a new window in which you can exchange the stoke for a tier 15 item.
Reputation Merchants
The reputation merchants also have tier 15 items to offer (such as the Jax Trust and the Unified Theory Institute).
Molten Token II and Cyasma Token II
New tokens are available in this update which you can pick up in instances (Molten Token II) or craft in Argonea (Cyasma Token II). Apart from that, old tokens can also be swapped for new ones.
- Molten Tokens can be swapped in the ratio 12:1
- Cyasma Tokens can be swapped in the ratio 4:1
Right-clicking the tokens will open a new window. You can select the new tokens in the third tab.
Using the Molten Token II and the Cyasma Token II you can earn various new items:
- Rings (for Molten Token II)
- Earrings (for Cyasma Token II)
- T14 equipment items (for Molten Token II and Cyasma Token II)
Accessories with set bonuses
PvE
The rings and earrings, which you can collect with Molten Token II and Cyasma Token II, combine to make a set. This gives you additional bonuses, the more pieces of the set you have. However you can only carry one example of each ring or earring. The other pieces are dropped by enemies in the Ghillieglade (necklace), in Lakan's Prison (second ring) and in the Abscess in normal mode (second earring).

Bonuses for healers:
Bonuses for tanks:
PvP
PvP fans can also look forward to a new jewelry set: Bellicarium merchants are offering a necklace and in the Alliance Vault you can find the matching rings and earrings.

Armor with set bonuses
Set bonuses aren't only for accessories. There are also set bonuses for armor pieces. You'll need the following pieces of armor to make up a complete set:
- Weapon
- Chest Armor
- Gloves
- Shoes
- Belt
Patron Set (PvE)
This set is dropped by enemies in the Ghillieglade, in Lakan's Prison, in Rift's Edge (Normal) and the Abscess (Normal).
Devastator Set (PvE)
This set is dropped by enemies in Rift's Edge (Hard) and the Abscess (Hard).
Archetype Set (PvE)
Enemies in Rift's Edge (Normal/Hard) drop items which start quests, by which you can gain designs for archetype equipment. Crafting these items requires many materials from the various different instances, allowing you to create the toughest armor in the whole of Arborea!
There are two items which start the quests: Muhrak's Curious Letter and Muhrak's Cryptic Document.
- Muhrak's Curious Letter allows you to craft Archetype equipment (VM3) with the various VM1 and VM2 materials, but without needing the Nightforge equipment (VM2).
- Muhrak's Cryptic Document on the other hand converts your existing Nightforge equipment (VM2) into Archetype equipment (VM3), and you also need fewer materials.
Splendid Legend Set (PvP)
The best new PvP equipment (VM3) can be had from merchants for Killing Spree Credits. Here too there are two designs: one for players who want to improve their VM2 PvP equipment, and one for players who want to create VM3 equipment directly.
Shining Batahir's Weapons
You can pick up an item from Krakatox in the Abscess (Hard) which starts a quest to get your improved Archetype weapon. If you accept you'll be sent to Muhurak in Habere to decipher the mysteries of the Krakatox Bone and further improve your weapon.
Level III etchings
As mentioned in the interface change preview, the crafting system is being further expanded. This patch will allow you to produce level III etchings once you are an Etch Master and own the designs from the Ghillieglade and Lakan's Prison. If you fulfill these requirements you can begin crafting and produce the following effects:
- Permanently increase constitution by 8
- Permanently increase strength by 10
- Permanently increase critical hit rate by 18
- Permanently increase HP regeneration rate by 370 and attack speed by 1%
- Permanently increase monster aggro by 8% and attack speed by 1%
- Permanently increase attack speed by 4% and reduce skill cooldown by 2.5%
This was our last preview for the new content update. We hope you enjoyed the series and wish you lots of fun with the new items!
