The Classes of TERA: The Archer

  • The next class we’d like to introduce to you is a powerful long-range fighting class, the Archer.

Archers are trained from a young age on the techniques of handling a bow and arrow and also how to perfect their concentration and physical fitness, making them deadly adversaries on the battlefield. But it isn’t simply the Archer’s accuracy which makes him stand out from the crowd; his dexterity also allows him to cover long distances effortlessly and bring his bow and arrows to where they’re needed, when they’re needed.

The Archer has but one thing on his mind on the battlefield – his target. The longer he focuses on his target, the greater the damage he inflicts. Since the archer needs a moment to rest after the sheer concentration required for an effective shot, he jumps backwards a short distance after firing to maintain a distance from his opponent. Finally, he puts his adversary out of his misery with a final and fatal volley of arrows.

However, even whole groups of opponents pose little danger to the mighty Archer. Thanks to years of intensive training the archer is able to keep an eye on numerous targets at one time. When the end of the battle draws near, the archer takes one last stand, firing a fatal barrage of arrows at his enemies.

Archers are also very talented in using magical traps. They lure their hapless victims in the direction of their cleverly positioned poisonous traps which slowly but surely suck the life out of their immobilized victims. A Crippling Trap always comes in handy when he is faced with more nimble opponents that need to be dealt with from a distance. Once the foe has stepped on the trap his movement speed is drastically reduced, which, for a long-range fighter like the archer, is a great advantage.

Thanks to his dexterity and deadly precision, the archer represents a great threat to all foes who dare challenge him on the battlefield, even those with the toughest armour or the most impressive magical abilities. The archer’s power is certainly a force to be reckoned with and potential opponents must first think twice before trying their luck.

The archer relies entirely on his arrows which deliver impressive results both at close range as well as over long distances. His light armour provides protection at all times yet allows him to maintain his agility and speed and constantly redress the distance between him and his target – the perfect ingredients for a well-aimed shot.

Finally, in the video below you can see the Archer in Action:

  • interesting they weren't using dodge at all :(
the traps were abit op.... 1 shot the mobs ... maybe they were really low lvl mobs and archer was really high lvl
u can charge skills while running... doesn't that defeat the point of a charge skill... well at least the reason why it does more damage?
nice to see u can move recital while still charging the skill though a little strange how the char was pointing left but the recital was pointing in the middle of the screen and the archer still hit (right at the end) so does that mean that the recital is just aiming and you have to manually position the direction your char is looking? doesn't that defeat the point of the recital?

  • Something new from EU side of TERA. :] Hope to see other classes too. Such threads have great potential.

Personally I'm thinking about playing with archer class so the video footage was really interesting for me.
Everything looks fine and great with the archer class.

  • Looking forward to see more info about the classes.

The archer might be looking to the left while charging the skill, but his arrow hit the target pointed by the reticule.

  • Great vids, finally some new info about the game! One question tho, why is there no blood in the video? :P

that just makes it so confusing when u are trying to avoid him... its like in shooting games the sniper is looking 90deg in another direction from you (you are to his north and he is looking west etc) and then somehow the bullets take 90 deg turns out of his barrel and u are left wondering wtf just happened ....

oh and for fps games it can become a reason why you hate the game... (example cod mw2)

  • WOAHHHHH the video is sick!!!!

......The One you love to hate......

10/31/2011 - Final day of Flawless Shojin, best of luck.

Final day of glorious CM "Silvanoshi" and CR "Sealath", best of luck to both of you

    who's next?

  • Thanks for new video, and developers have decided us to finish that information hunger

Traps are very well thought over, it it to be pleasant to me, now it will be necessary to think over strategy.

    where blood? Alex u usocki!

Seems like they have removed it... few patchs ago. I've only sow blood in the early versions but I didn't like it. I prefear it that way but an option to enable/disable it wouldn't hurt.
