Instance Preview: The Abscess (normal)

  • Today we're going to introduce another dungeon: the Abscess, an instance for seven players.

The entrance can be found in Fyrmount in Ostgarath. A minimum equipment level of 159 is recommended.

As the name suggests, The Abscess is full of truly hideous enemies. An infection has spread throughout the area, and the monsters afflicted by
the disease must be wiped out.

On the way to Thalweg, the first boss, you'll meet numerous globulins which you must destroy!

Thalweg is equipped with a wide range of attacks, such as lasers, rolls left and right, and damaging circles.

Thalweg radiates circles which thrice increase their radius causing damage each time.

In close combat, he strikes careless warriors around him in 180° arcs from left to right and from top to bottom.

Occasionally Thalweg also fires a laser through the area, causing damage.

Thalweg rolls from side to side or forwards, stream rolling anyone who gets in his way.

In addition, he summons globulins at the entrance which need to be defeated. If they aren't destroyed, they produce an effect on Thalweg which increases his defence until the globulins have been defeated.

Thalweg also summons a second type of demokron, which heal him as soon as they get near to him. Annihilate them as soon as possible!

Once you have defeated Thalweg, you can make your way to Krakatox, the final boss. But keep your wits about you: on the way you will be attacked by demokrons which assault your group from all sides.

Your group will not only have to face globulins: Coagulus, another disfigured opponent, will carry out aerial attacks which can damage and paralyze players struck.

    Krakatox, the final boss

Krakatox is the final and strongest opponent in the Abscess. He has numerous AoE attacks and effects at his disposal, which your group will have to survive.

    Tentacle Cage

A player may be caught in a cage made of tentacles and pinned to the spot. Destroy the cage to free the captive!

There is, however, a way of avoiding the cage: shortly before Krakatox captures a player with the tentacles, he cries out 'Krakatox summons tentacles to ensnare you!' and beats the ground. If you dodge at the same time as he strikes the ground, you won't end up in the tentacle prison.

    Lasers

Krakatox fires lasers out of his hand - sidestepping is highly recommended!

    Sword Blows

Krakatox draws a bony sword from his belly. He'll either use it to spin around 360°, or force it into the ground in front of him causing circular area
    damage.
If he has already lost 50% of his health, after ramming the sword into the ground, he'll then draw it out and in so doing cause damage in a 180° arc. He'll now carry out more attacks with his hand before finally slamming it on the ground.

    Wrecking Blow

Aside from the sword, Krakatox can also draw a bony hand from his belly and cause damage with it in front of him.

Once you have defeated Krakatox, the following loot will be waiting for you:

    • Gold
    • Molten Token II
    • Level III Etching Designs
    • Master Enigmatic Scroll
    • Tier 14 sacrifice items
