Kumasylum Guide

  • Kumasylum Kumaguideum

Welcome to Kumasylum. A magicial land where 10 brave adv- screw it. A 10 v 3 battleground where the team of 10 Federation players is attempting to steal the Kuma's Candy. Things aren't as simple as they sound - the Kumas won't let you take their precious candy. When matching, you will either be matched as a Federation player or a Kuma. There are 3 candies in total, and whoever has the most candy at the end will win. The game will end if the Federation team manages to secure all 3. Older players may refer to Candy as Diamonds. Same thing.

    Kuma Team

This is the easiest team to win as. Your objective is to prevent the Federation team from successfully stealing 2 or more candies. You are shown the location of these candies, and have to delay the breaking of these chests. If someone takes a Candy, you are alerted and it is your duty to chase down and kill the player carrying the Candy (the 'carrier').

There are 2 types of Kuma - Baby and Mama / Red (proper name is Nanny).

Once you have killed a carrier, the Candy will be in your possession. Be careful now, since the enemy must now kill you to obtain that Candy. It is recommendable to stay in close vicinity to the Red kuma since it has a heal ability.

If you are still in possession of at least 2 candies when the game ends, you win.

    Misc tips / info!

    • Red kumas can heal other kumas AND CHESTS!
    • Don't loiter near the correct chests. Hang around a random chest as a decoy, but watch the HP of the real chests (click them).
    • If you kill a Candy carrier whilst you are in possession of a Candy already, it will drop on the floor.
    • Red kumas are the most powerful, hence there is only 1 of them.
    • If people are blocking you with their mounts, you can use Leap (3) or Roll (4) to pass them.
    • Stun Ball (1) has a long distance and is very useful.
    • If 2 kumas are attempting to kill one carrier, one focus on the healers whilst the other focuses on the carrier. That way, the carrier will die a lot faster.

    Federation Team

How wonderful, you are matched to the Federation team. Good luck.

Just kidding, a good Federation team can easily win Kumasylum. Refer to this image for the 5 patterns of Candy locations. They will 95% be in these locations, there are rare occasions (possibly bugs) where the Candy is in a different location.

First step is charms. Power/Endur/Infused right? No. DPS should use Strength / Enduring / Infused, while carriers can use either Strength / Enduring / Swift OR Strength / Rigid / Swift. It is recommendable to use Enduring, however.

Second - crystals! Get them relentless off, go 4x Anarchic. Use Impact zyrks if possible. Backbiting is recommended for breaking chests. Carriers should use 3x Anarchic and 1x Fleetfoot.

Next step is assigning carriers. The only people who should carry are Lancers, Berserkers or Warriors who are in glyphed Defense Stance.

Carriers should research the shortcut locations on the map. I cannot find and do not have time to make an image (yet) showing the locations of the shortcuts. There are multiple YouTube videos available that I may link in another post.

Carriers should also be prepared to log out or close client when in danger. It is unclear whether this is bug abuse or not, feel free to remove this section if it is.

    How to find the pattern!

THE FOLLOWING IMAGES AND TEXT ARE ALL THANKS TO WANKOHU

This image is a great, guaranteed way to find the pattern of candies quickly. The aim is to find the highlighted (red circle) chest, following the 'Yes' or 'No' arrows depending on if the chest is present. You do not need to break the chest, only check if it is present. This should take a minute or 2 at most, giving you at least 13 minutes to break the chests and deliver 2 candies. It may be handy to print this image off until you are familiar with it, knowing this will boost your chances of winning quite a bit.

Again, this image belongs to WankoHU and I take no credit for it - merely sharing this to help you win more (especially with Kumasylum being needed for new Strikeforce-type set)

Healers note two things - Firstly, always follow the carrier. They need CONSTANT HEALING. Priests use Kaia's Shield when possible. Secondly, Priests should rebuff Blessing of Zenobia, Seren and Balder, Mystics should be using Aura of the Swift and Thrall of Protection Endurance glyph (if possible).

If you are not the carrier, you should escort the carrier to the ships in the top left or top right of the map. Use your PvE knockdown skills to knock the Kumas down and buy some time to run away. Such skills include but are not limited to:

    • Slayer's Knockdown Strike
    • Warrior's Rising Fury and Rain of Blows
    • Berserker's Flatten
    • Archer's Radiant Arrow
    • Reapers Sundering Strike
    • Lancer's Wallop

If you see that a Kuma is slept, don't hit it. Sleep will take a Kuma out of the game for 20 seconds and is hard to successfully apply.

If the Candy falls into Kuma possession near the Ships, it is advisable to kill it as soon as possible. Mystics should spawn Thrall of Wrath, while warriors attempt to apply as many Traverse Cuts as possible.

Priest's should also use Glyph of Enfeeblement on Triple Nemesis. Attempt to hit the Kuma when there is no one in dire need of a heal (or pop Kaia's Shield and quickly get a hit or 2 off before returning to healing).

If you successfully steal 2 candies, you have won the game. If you do not get the last one, the game will carry on as normal until the end, but you still win.

    Misc tips / info!

    • Berserker's Thunderstrike does not knock down Kumas.
    • It is possible to win 60 seconds after entering the battleground. This is a bug of course.
    • If you are carrying, stack as much movement speed as you can. Berserkers can use Dash before picking up to get a nice speed boost.

Will probably be updated in future, this is basically a draft.

    :doofy:

    edited & sticky - Vayus

  • I usually carry with my archer . Movement speed stance and run forest run !

Also try stuns/ccs and slows :D

One more thing. I always use glistering when we are in the phase of finding diamonds ;)

if no take bak i wil hate ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edited once, last by modie ().

  • archer got low hp and low endurance, shouldn't really carry candy -.-

boogiepop +1. actually all bg's (instances in IM too, you wanna learn- get whole party ;3)

    DPS spreadsheet~

Cleared data due to new patch, not playing much myself so data will rely on whatever people send me.
(Full screenshot so I can see which instance and boss to avoid cheating + see consumables used. Last time got data from some boss when people claimed it was another, max hp gave it away)

  • Whoa.

Nice guide, it looks you put a lot of effort in this.

    Ultima | Lv70 Priest | ILv 498 | Yurian | Main
    Aeq | Lv70 Archer | ILv 466 | Yurian | Ex-Main
    Quest | Lv70 Zerk | ILv 470
    | Yurian | what a joke

    Game Over.

Lordz of Ownage - 11/09/13 - Never forget

  • Nice guide, good job! c:

Would also add a few tips for the federation team:

    • lancers and d-stance warriors can stay between kuma and carrier and block some attacks to reduce the damage.
    • helers should run ahead of the carrier, as far as they can, but in range of lock-on skills 18-22m (you may want to glyph it). this way, you wont get hit by kuma's attacks and can easily heal the carrier. Priests try to time your kaia when you think you cant heal in time and kuma is going to attack, kaia takes less time to cast. You can also glyph Arise, its quite useful.
    • you can try some tactics, like start delievering diamonds while only 2 are found, both carriers should have healers with them and always split, while the rest of the team is breaking last box. If both carriers are alive, still on their way and there's no one guarding 3rd diamond when its open, you may try to ninja it.
    • don't use main gate as a carrier. never. there's a lot of different ways. if you're in the middle - use small holes in walls next to the main gate. But dont use main gate itself. other ways may give you some extra time and are less dangerous.

and there's a lot of places to stay when you're carrying, where kumas cant really hit you, or, at least, not all their attacks. Will post some screenshots later :3

    Also

It is possible to win 60 seconds after entering the battleground. This is a bug of course.

not sure about this. I've seen a lot of games where 2 kumas leave/got kicked, therefore party is disbanded, so federation players win automatically, but dont get any candy boxes.
Its the same if all kumas are offline. You just win.
Not sure if its the same case though :<

  • Another thing, dont pick candy as lancer unless there is no zerker or d-stance warrior in your raid. Guardian Shout is such a powerful support, too bad no one realizes.

Or if they are lowlifes with no/bad crystals.

I only trust one carrier, and that is ME!

PS: The same applies to healers too.

Well, even if you don't get anny Candy Boxes Extra, you go to get the experince od Daily Quest and the Box Surah gives you, aren't you? It's not bad for this case of short game.

Btw, the guide is realy usefull, i would like people read this before participate in Kumas without know about it. After al you dont need to be a Pro lvl60 for win this, is enough if you dont #YOLO and take Candys without the team, o when you have 2 Kumas behind you, o when you are the only priest. Even if you are not the only Priest, having Lancers, or Warriors who can carry the candy, dont pick it.

  • Well, even if you don't get anny Candy Boxes Extra, you go to get the experince od Daily Quest and the Box Surah gives you, aren't you? It's not bad for this case of short game.

Yes, such wins are good only for dailies. But if you completed your daily/lvling quest already, you wont get any boxes. Not sure about credits and xp though, so maybe its a good thing for someone who's lvling or farming credits. For me tho, its a waste of time, since I still have cd when I'm out.

  • You get quests complete and xp / credits, you only lose boxes (you may not have even got any without bugged win).

  • Update regarding new kuma "balancing" with Wounded World patch. Still the same, need a good hooman team to win and such.

  • Very nice guide, but more for beginners, I think. What would be interesting for me, to know how one can identify quickly in which boxes the diamonds are, when there is no diamond found yet. I know that if there is a chest left at the wall close to the big hole, it is always full and always picture 4 (from the left). If there is a chest at the back wall left to the house, then it is usually full, but not always, I think.

dann kamen leute -zensiert- .. skilllose f2phelden.. -zensiert- habs mal bei wiki gesucht.. ? -zensiert-
    -zensiert-

  • There is a method for that, although it's overly complicated and requires 6 people to work together.

Personally I start with triangle formation (pic 3) and if it's not that, check chest locations and eliminate the wrong ones.

  • Candy locations, if the marked chest is up, go with "yes" if it isn't then go with "no".
I know that it looks bad, but it works, and cba to do a "nice looking" one.

This assumes that you enter from the main gate, there might be other ways to identify them too.

  • How to find the right chests solo ?

1st of all u need to have the 5 pattern on the pic below inside ur head :P

    I named those pattern A, B, C, D, E to use them as a reference later .

When u get in Kumasylum u have that empty map with all those many chests, no idea which one have a diamond ?( , well fear not, look at the pic below :

1 - After u skip the traditional 1st attak by the 3 kuma to delay ur progress, take the route A .

2 - Check if ther is a chest at 1:
    * if u have no chest there then remove the Pattern C from ur head, u have now 4 possible pattern.
    * there is a chest at 1 ? take the Route B .

    3 - Now u need to check if ther is a chest at 2 and 3 :
    * if u found 2 chests at 2 and 3 then stop looking for Pattern, this is the C pattern, Ping to ur raid member the locations and start opening those chests .
    * u Found only a 1 chest at 2 or 3 ? Remove the C pattern from ur head, u have now 4 Possible pattern .

    4 - Check if there is a chest at 4 and 5 :
    * Thers a chest at 4, but nothing on 5 ? Head ur way to Route C and look if there is a chest at 6, if u have a chests at 6 then stop looking u have the pattern D : start pinging to ur raid member and open those chests. But if u found not chests at 6 then its the pattern B .
    * Thers a chest at 5, but nothing on 4 ? take the Route C , if u have a chest at 6 then its the D Pattern, if u have no chest there then its the Pattern A, Ping to ur raid member and open those chests .

5 - What about the pattern E ? from my expecrience its an uncomon pattern u dont get it much, with some weird locations of the chest , But u can recognize it by the Chest F in blue, if u have a chests there then its the E pattern, ping to .. and bla bla :) .

-> Feel free to point anything missing ^^
