Achievements for all!

  • Achievements everywhere

Today we want to introduce in more depth the achievement system of TERA. Obtaining an achievement is something that everyone enjoys, and in TERA, you’ll be awarded with achievements for accomplishing many different things.

    Achievement Unlocked

Whether it’s downing a particularly steely adversary, reaching a pivotal moment in the story, or lining your purse with an unimaginable amount of gold, there’s always an achievement in TERA to ensure you retain bragging rights. As an added bonus, your new achievement will grant you a title that you can proudly display next to your character’s name. This way you’ll not only have a recap of your journeys, but you’ll also be able to show your recent successes, and failures, to other players in the world of TERA.

While achievements in TERA are always sure to raise a smile, no matter what grueling task was undertaken, some will certainly give players more reason to smile than others. For example, the “Prime” achievement rewards players who become the best of the best in their class. Be the first to reach level 30 and you’ll be rewarded for your dedication, allowing other players to recognize you as one of the most skillful and dedicated players in the world. Others, however, don’t carry such honour. Be unfortunate enough to die 10 times, and salt will be added to the wound in the form of the “A Little Ten-der” achievement. Flaunt this particular achievement at your own risk.

Achievements in the game are divided into 5 categories (General, Quests, PvP, Social & Community) with several sub-categories (e.g. “General” has Level, Hunting, Adventure, Equipment, & Misc.) Here’s a sneak peak at a few more of the achievements you can expect to see when TERA arrives later this year.

The complete news and a couple of examples of achievements can be found here.

  • Nice info. The more achiements are there in Tera the better is for all =)

  • I am looking forward to play this game, this is good idea these Achievements

  • Achievements for the win! It's nice to get some information regarding this topic. =)

  • I dislike these one of a kind achievements like 'first to be level 30', but I doubt there will be more who think the same way...
Once an achievement system is implanted to a game, I would like get all of them ^^ (which is why I hate achievement systems in general, because they will always result in a time-consuming pastime for me :P)

"First in the realm to reach level 30". - "Experienced death 10 times. Not scared of dying."

    ;) little "bug"

Hehe, I have the same "problem", ShadowSinner. I also feel the need to have them all. Though, I would definitely prefer more complicated ones than die x times or get x level. =)

Yeah me to! Personally I LOVE the 'defeat boss in x amount of minutes' type of achievements ^^

  • oh nice, looking forward to get all the available achievements ingame :)

  • Really nicely done Raven, keep putting good work in the game. Can't wait to see the achivment list. Best Regards.

Achievements only for "first ones from realms" and guild-hoppers = bad. :(

The "first one in realm" achievement I dislike also. It would be better to have a "Achieved level 30 within 3 days" or something. The reason why I say this is that in a leveling race, there are often 100+ people who reach a specific level within the same hour and I just think it is a bit lame for an MMO to have such a "Winner gets all, losers get nothing" title. Also people being a few hours later than the first person are still very committed to the game. I feel that people willing to get sleep deprived for a game should get a little recognition. Its not a racing game xD

What do people think about it?

    Kind regards,
    Deioth

  • Hmmm, I doubt that "First in the realm to reach level 30" is the name for the achivement where the character have experienced death ten times? ;o

Stop lying to us. There's not gonna be achievements for all if there are 'first-to-[...]' achievements implemented.

On another note: reaching 30 as first player on your server doesnt necessarily mean you got skills.

    just sayin', yo.

  • But all have a chance to get that achievement tho ;) or maybe he meant all can choose achievement whatever they want.

  • I too think the first to reach lvl [x] is a bit unfair to the people who have real lives and commitments, who cannot dedicate hours upon hours of continuous gameplay to reach [x] lvl in little time. I also know for a fact that some people who really want this title, will rush through the earlier part of the game - thus, missing out on a lot of story line and plot (i would guess) - just so they can get the achievement. This doesn't equal skill in my opinion, they may be lvl 30 first but i bet they won't know what they are doing half the time.

On the plus side, i do like the idea of achievements, but i think they need to be fair in terms of people who can spend hours playing, to those of us who cannot but would really like to. Someone mentioned achievements for who can beat [x] boss/es the fastest, i like this idea. They had a similar set-up if FFXI and it definately added another layer to the game. Anyway i am still super-excited (we so excited?) xD about playing this, even though i will probably have 'Ten-der' as my title pretty much at all times xD
