How to participate for the prizes?

You just need to grab your character (level 30 and above) and try to
get a higher “Personal Rating” for the Corsairs’ Stronghold
    battleground.

You’ll have to submit your score via email between 29.07.2013 at 09:00 CEST and 30.07.2013 at 09:00 CEST.
Keep in mind that one the 30th there will be maintenance so you should make sure to write down your score before the servers go down or you won’t be able to check it!

You can see your “Personal Rating” in your in-game profile (pressing “P”).

The email must contain only your score in the subject line, as it’s shown in your profile; don’t add dots or commas in between, just the plain number. In the body of the message you should include your character name and server. For this, you should use the email address you have registered in your account. Only the scores submitted within the requirements will be taken into consideration for the prizes.

We will check that the scores are right and the best ten from all will be the winners.

    FAQ

    • Why do I need to submit my score? Can’t you check it directly?
Yes, we can; but you need to accept the T&Cs. With the submission of your score via email, you agree to accept these conditions of participation.

    • Does it matter if I’m not one of the best in the in-game highscore?
No. Remember, only the scores submitted via email count. So you will still have a chance!

Don’t forget to check the Terms and Conditions for this event.

  • Thank you for the event, it sounds really intriguing. I hope that nobody will try to find exploits to artificially boost their ranking.

  • Its fine to see some events with prizes ...

    But ...

Why not Naga Molten or something .....

This mouse should not be called a gaming mouse IMO i mean cmon , like 5 buttons......

Personally i wouldnt swap my mouse for this even if they payed me for it.

  • Thank you for the event, it sounds really intriguing. I hope that nobody will try to find exploits to artificially boost their ranking.

Try to? People are already logging off in bulks to keep their high rating. I can only imagine what it's gonna be like once ppl see the event. Gonna be really "fun" when you are defending with 5 ppl against 20... Guess the person who came up with this event followed the old saying...if you can't beat them, give them rewards for exploiting...

  • ill ask something, there are 12 servers, so there 60 ppl get rewards ?

  • Atmorph I appreciate you guys trying to do events for the community, it's awesome, but you need to put a bit more thought in them... and fix the issues.

Top 10 from all emails? Doesn't matter server? You realize how stupid that is right? I mean, PvE server pools don't even meet the PvP one, and for all I know they can get easily higher rating since they fight mostly people with no clue how to PvP, yet it doesn't mean they are even close to as good, as proven when some PvE ppl transferred.

  • How about checking my support ticket eh? Been already 3 days. :doofy:

Also what Ay said, this is very unfair towards PVP servers, because some noobs i know get very high rating this way (never que without their 5 man premades, and play against even bigger noobs), without even being half decent, and they wouldn't even be top 100 at pvp pool, so what the hell? :dash:

    You dont know play.

Edited once, last by thadmeister ().

  • lol naga... I would never use that plastic crap again. not fan of this roccat mouse either but I could be almost 100% sure that it will last twice as long as the razer mouse.

  • Corsair is not skill based or teamwork based because you get stuck with randoms, so who cares if it's messed up.

Atmorph, tell BHS to implement Territory Wars in GvG style 20v20 same as Corsair please. No randoms. Just two guilds one attacking and one defending a territory that they hold. That would be awesome.

  • Did you even reset the ranking for this? Or is it just for people who already have highest ranking and it's impossible to score better till 30th?

  • Hello!

Before I go on answering, I'll "introduce" myself. Those who watched the live stream some weeks ago, know me already... For those who didn't: I'm SiS and I'm the "social media girl" as Atmorph likes to call me :miffy: . I started working for TERA as community engagement manager & social media manager, and thus I'm trying to prepare events and other activities such as the live streams for the community (btw, next live streams are being planned already!).

I started planning this event some time ago (with the awesome help from Atmorph - sorry I torture you!), unfortunately the first concept I wrote about it was technically impossible so I had to modfy it several times and come with different alternatives to make it happen. Now reading your comments I see some points I didn't see before, so I thank you for the feedback.
This one of the first "big" events I planned for you guys, so I see it as a test run right now. With your feedback, I'll improve the next concepts to make the events more interesting. :)

So, to answer some the questions/comments:

ill ask something, there are 12 servers, so there 60 ppl get rewards ?

No, there are only 10 winners out of the whole community.

    Quote

Did you even reset the ranking for this?

No, the scores aren't reset. The event was supposed to start with the update, but as I mentioned before I had to modify the concept and it got postponed. However, I didn't want to delay it any loger until the scores were reset.
It shouldn't be impossible to get a hold on those prizes. But I'll keep this in mind for next events for sure.

I have a question regarding this event, how exactly does seem format the e-mail?

    The format should be...
    Subject: 1000
(example as if you had 1000 points of personal rating... in your case from the screenshot it's 1381)
    Body:
    *char name
    *server
    *Language version

Though, keep in mind that the scores should be sumbitted between the period mentioned in the announcement!

Same for the other comments about the server pools, I will also consider differences between PvP/PvE servers for next time and make a division on them whenever it's possible.

    Cheers!
    SiS

  • Now reading your comments I see some points I didn't see before, so I thank you for the feedback.

I really really think you and your team should consider asking players about events before implementing them. Pick 10-12 players from each server and run events by them. Last night my team in CS successfully defended the crystal for 15min(no enemy touched it at all). When 2nd round started, the enemy team had shrunk to 9 people. I landed on inner wall with airship...there was nobody to be seen. Ran down to the crystal and found the remaining enemy team dancing there. They saluted us and just waited for it to be over. That wasn't particularly fun....

  • So, does this mean that the 10 players with the highest ELO across all servers will win prizes?

It might be a good idea to clarify this, as currently the INT-PvP matching pool has a much higher top ELO than other server matchings.

For example, I am rank 6 currently in Corsairs with an ELO of 1561 on server Killian and whereas someone earlier posted their character from a different matching pool being rank 2 with only 1381 ELO.

  • personal rating

Explain pls whats the valid personal rating ?
    - the one that the char has when the server goes down on 30.7 ? (so i cant play after sending mail ?)
    - highest achieved rating since cs season started ?
    - the rating i have when i send you email ?

  • During this week you should try to improve your personal rating in order to have a chance to win some great prizes by our friends at ROCCAT™!

    (my emphasis)

When I first read this competition I thought it was about improving your rating. But it's actually about having the highest rating or what?
i.e. I thought you would be doing well as far as the competition if, say, your rating was low and you had recovered a bit.

Warning: Post may contain traces of sarcasm.

  • Hmm, it doesn't seem I can edit my previous post now but there was something I thought of after writing it. Sure there is a personal rating for CS but as commented in the many forum posts and threads recently, the system is quite flawed and I don't think many people would be willing to put too much faith in that ranking. I know personally there have been plenty of games where I outplayed the members of my team and did really well but since we ended up losing I lost rating; and also games where someone else in the team did most of the work and I barely contributed but still gained in rating.

Of course Corsair's Stronghold is a team challenge, and I think that it would have been really cool if there was some sort of team competition rather than an individual contest. Of course this would make it difficult for everyone to participate and after all it is the shiny new thing, so I can understand why the contest revolves around it, but it is ultimately a challenge that tests teamwork rather than individual skill.

Edit: Also: "with residence within the European Union" = boo

  • Hey again!

@VoodooAngel: as I said, I will include your feedback for next events. Maybe discussing them with the players before could be something to try. However, the whole idea behind the events (at least how I see it) is that we prepare something for you to enjoy and have fun. For me it would be really weird to say... "Hey guys, you want to have an event? Take care of it"; and it would also remove the "surprise" effect. Of course I admit that there's a lot of space for improvement, (I yet have to get used to the way TERA works) and that's why I think your feedback is really valuable, same as ideas or suggestions of possible activities. I'll try to adapt the things to the way the community wants them, after all, these things are for you :)

@Sane: What counts is the "Personal Rating" (the one displayed on your Profile under the CS battleground), I'm not sure if that's the same as "ELO".
Basically, the 10 players with the highest "Personal Rating" submitted will win.

Wfight: The score you submit should be the same you have when we check the mails. That's why the sumbission period is set during the last day. So you should send the mail when you make your last battleground before the maintenance.

This was my first intention, I wanted to reward team work. However, I found myself in front of some technical limitations and in the other hand, how unlikely it would be for people to play during a week with exact same team. :(

About the score, it's the highest, not the difference between what you had and what you improve. I'm sorry , it seems I didn't make it really clear.

  • With this event, does it mean the top 10 people who gained the most personal rating within the period will win OR the top 10 on the overall battleground ranking?

  • No, the scores aren't reset. The event was supposed to start with the update, but as I mentioned before I had to modify the concept and it got postponed. However, I didn't want to delay it any loger until the scores were reset.

Are you kidding me? So you shouldn't make this event at all or just wait till rank resets. What's the point doing it right now?
YOU didn't want to wait any loNger, you're the host, you shouldn't make mistakes like that. This event is already done, people with highest rank already sent their e-mails, nobody will get rank higher than them in a week. Congratz for your first and I hope last event.

Also - do you even play the game? You shouldn't make one event for whole servers, just look at pve and pvp servers rankings...
