Voice of the Community: Achievements

  • achievements are very important to me, its hard to describe the satisfaction you get from seeing the achievement pop up. I like the group achievements like killing a boss in a certain way, or ones linked to events. For me achievements should be medium/hard to get... they shouldn't follow the standard ding 60 and get one. It should involve an amount of time and skill (maybe its argueable that getting to 60 is an achievement, i just think it should be a bit more than that).

I really like collectable achievements, achievements relating to PVP.

The rewards are important! I really think that rewards should not change your stats. As a reward, i feel that ingame vanity items are more approperiate... cool mounts, tabards, dyes, tatoos, titles etc =)

    Good luck Frogster/En Masse!! =)

  • I voted for a special title 2.And thats something you must earn after a hard ach is done.
Noone likes the way WoW did on titles after some expansions(eveyone has above 20 radom titles and neither one is something special so you choose to show only your name), but still you need something to seperate you from the others if you have done something extremly hard in PvE or PvP.Not all the players can be the same you know.
Extra stats or buffs is something that is really not needed, the title speaks for itself.Top PvP or PvE players dont need a stat boost to to show their superiority against some other players.

    Actually, I do.
I like being able to choose from several titles, even if they're popular or not require me to go nerdmode to get them. I doubt everyone feel the need to have a unique title that only a few chosen has. A Scarab Lord title doesnt make you a better player than what the Jenkins does.
And if they added three really hard-to-get titles (hard core and enthusiasts) players would probably go for one of those three and suddenly the unquieness would be gone.

Well maybe today Scarab Lord might not mean you're a better player but back in Vanilla it did. Much like around the time I quit WoW I could safely say members of my guild were better than others as we were the only ones on the realm with world first titles (e.g. Death's Demise, The Celestial Defender etc). The problem was we had all these realm first titles along with Immortal and all the others leaving us with virtually nothing to show for all our achievements unless someone actually inspected us.

I'd much rather have crappy achievements reward stuff that allows us to do something like personalise our character in some way, whilst leaving the real "show off" rewards to those who are willing to go "nerdmode". Take my WoW guild for example - we had all the world first and hardest titles around and yet I'd say about half the guild never had a title showing (myself included). Why? Because there's nothing special about them, everyone has at least half a dozen and no-one bothers to read them - or if they do they don't know what its for.

I'd rather have people getting excited about earning there first title, otherwise people stop caring as they just rack up a bunch of stuff they can't really use and doesn't really stand out. I mean I bet most the (ex-)WoW players can't tell me the bosses those titles are from without googling it...and they are world first titles from WOLTK.

Depends on what you think is a good player. In the case of the vanilla Scarab Lord(s) the Scarab lord had alot of help by their guildies, it wasn't something they aquired by themself. Much like how you need a good group of players to get the Immortal or any server first kill title. But yeah, that does mean that the player itself got some skill.
What Im worring about/against is being rated by which title you use, since alot of the fancy titles are only for the ones who were at the server first kill - that alot of really good players might joined the game a few months later and being seen as "lesser" becuase of that (much how itemlevel was/is used). But that's extreme elitism, is it not?

I agree that it would be far more fun to see players achievements through cosmetic on their character than their titles.
But rather from having only a few titles that takes alot of time to earn Id have some easier, too. (In WoW my favorite title still is the "Chef" that's rather easy to get.)

  • Achievements must be interestin, both hard and easy. Nice thing would be cosmetic rewards(we dont need items, buffs)

  • I would like to see achivements only have a effect on visuals, maybe give something like a mount or a title.

I'm not a fan of the stupid achievements in games such as WoW - the whole "you've reached max level" or anything of a similar level of stupidity and ease. Ideally I'd only want hard achievements that are really earnt

i think waspeh said it all near beginin it would nice to be able to get acheivements that are actual acheivments rather than oh look i now did what everyone else who played this game will do.
and i voted cosmetic titles yea would be nice too mayb mount but mostly just stuff for show rather than use

  • achievements ... must be in a game ! and i voted too cosmetics. seren im with u mate:)

  • Achievements are definitely a must-have in the current gen MMOs. While I'm not really much of an achievement hunter, it is always nice to be able to browse through what you have done and what you could do. It makes me feel warm inside, having reached that hard-to-get achievement that many don't have.

For some people, it's of course even more important. I have some friends that indeed do the weirdest things just for an achievement, no matter what achievement it is. Some people just are perfectionists like that, and if there's people who love achievement hunting, why wouldn't you add achievements? The more the merrier.

As for rewards, they definitely shouldn't be stat boosts or anything similar. Nothing permanent. Temporary rewards sound fine, mounts or such sound fine, titles sound fine, vanity items sound fine, but please keep items such as weapons or armour to quests, crafting and drops. Just the thought of having to complete an achievement to not be completely gimped makes me cringe.

  • Special titles or cosmetics (pets or any kind of mount that makes traveling easier)

  • Titles and other cosmetic rewards are fine, so are temporary buffs, I think. Equippable items or permanent buffs to combat abilities are not.
