  • Any reason for why our pre-load of the patch is half the size of the NA one? I really hope you're not cutting out on half the changes for us while they get all the good stuff.

  • +1

  • To me, PVP are supposed to be a feature in which player showoff their skills, teamwork, etc.. Not armor, not stats. Skills.

Yeah, so whats the point of PvP gear at all if they going to make it all equalized? Can I have my time/money spent on getting better gear back then pls?
Why not make the entire game gear-less? So we can show skillz in both PvP and PvE? I for one would be all for such solution. Not sure some others would tho...

  • Guys I understand the frustration about the gear not having an effect in the new battle ground and I have had a hard grind to Conjunct gear too and have had to suffer through the pain myself. I am kind of on the same level as you that I want that effort to count for something.

However let's look at the big picture here.

This "gear does not make a difference" thingy is only in the new 20v20 battle ground. There is still the old battle ground that you can do (and I hope there will be an incentive to do this on too) as well as open PVP at Nexus and such. Furthermore the Alliance patch is just around the cornor and there the PVP gear will definitely count too. So isn't it ok that there is one instanced PVP experience that people of all level ranges can enjoy without getting absolutely obliterated by veterans?

The problem right now is that there is no PVP at all for people below level 60. Yes they can go pick on other people their own level in the open world until those people call a friend or log a main to 1 shot the aggressor, but come on. That's not a good enough offer for new players. There absolutely need to be something that will get new players into the PVP without them having to wait all the way to level 60 only to come in to the big boys school yard and be bullied for a couple of months till they have decent gear. Most people will simply not find that enjoyable and stop playing all together making the community smaller.

My conclusion is that this is a good thing as long as it is limited to this only. As soon as PVP gear won't matter in the alliance wars or major parts of the PVP then it's really BAD. But I think it is fair to have 1 instanced PVP offer for newcomers who want to get into the PVP game in a good way. I am sure that you can all see the benefit for the game and the community in making this decision. You want to keep veterans but if the flow of new and fresh air to the scene is effectively cut off by very steep entry curves then the game will suffer and die slowly but surely. If I look at the big picture with the upcoming patches I think the Tera team is trying to do this EXACTLY. To balance keeping veterans and still getting fresh blood in the pen. And to be honest I actually think that this is being done very professionally and cleverly in this case.

TL;DR: Having 1 instanced PVP experience for new people is not going to kill the game for veterans. There is plenty of content for geared people - especially with the upcoming Alliance patch. The Tera team is balancing keeping veterans but on the other hand make sure that the game will get an inflow of new people to secure that the game won't die off over the months.

I really don't see why are you whining at the first place, this is just one battleground, one where the gear wouldn't even matter as much anyway, besides - the alliance patch will have them PVP zones, where you can use your precious gear and what not, also old battleground and arena still the same. People who find this so terribly wrong are probably the gear carried ones! :whistling:

    You dont know play.

  • I have no problem with equalized PvP, they have EQBGs on NA and I wish those would come here too so all the "lets leech the credits for my jewelry" PvErs would have some other place to go.

But why not make both equalized and non-equalized 20vs20 as well? I want to play the new stuff too even tho I dont like giving up on my hard earned gear (and not even too OP I am still in half conjuct half fray so nothing over the board).
And where is the incentive to go on with the gear grind if they make it obsolete like this...

    @thadcastle
Please dont give me that retarded "gear carried" BS. You know perfectly well what gear means in this game, all your skill can do exactly 0 when you get roflslept/fireblasted by that VM/BR sorc from hell.
But I am sure you know that, dont you? Its easy to preach from safe spot or leech from those who did all the work for you

  • Equalized BG wont help you with:
    - GvG
    - Other BG's
    - Open World PvP

  • Of course i know, but for sorc to be able to sleep you he must cast it, and unless you're already stunned by something else, good luck with that. As an archer you shouldn't have any problems with sorcerers

But that is irrelevant to the topic, now as for why they won't make it equalised and normal gear is because that would mean that the level 30's wouldn't be able to participate in the latter, and thus making the queue times probably too long anyway, well and as i said, alliance will have pvp zones.

I said that sorc from hell and you probably know its a pack that never moves one without another (just check the names topping the lists on certain servers). So not hard to get stunned either.
The most hilarious thing ever is, if you by some chance pop in their premade as random, when they start squealing about how boring winning again is..... yet they never move an inch without their precious VM/BR buddies.

Guess I will wait for alliance patch and just play my baby sorc until then.

  • most people just queue with friends, and if your friends are mostly +12conj/bt/vm what can you do? get victors to simulate challenge? soloq to be in worse team?

[Zebra] Ksero, Halves, Panzerkampfelin, Kseal, Kaitsuni, Tanizaki, Ruxia, Bride, Mooncookies @ Fraya

  • Nope but you can stop being a hypocrite and say "yes I luv oneshotting noobs it makes me feel good" instead of pretending you just found yourself in that BG by some weird chance and are bored to death with it.

  • i find harder matches vs competent enemy in more or less equal teams more fun and no, i dont like oneshooting people.

[Zebra] Ksero, Halves, Panzerkampfelin, Kseal, Kaitsuni, Tanizaki, Ruxia, Bride, Mooncookies @ Fraya

  • Yup, me too. But roflstomping unequal team or being roflstomped by one I just find lame. I kinda feel sad and angry when I oneshot someone, not at all victorious.

  • So no new shiny thralls? Any idea when the patch will be done? Maybe next week?

  • I've always had far more fun in Fraywind Canyon when the teams were equally matched than when one just dominated the other. :)

From the beguinner POV, it is absolutely *not fun* to be systematically killed all the time by people just because they have better gear :(

From the geared side (at least now that I have conjunct +12), simply destroying people and going around the bg roflstomping - or worse, losing a victory beacuse most of your team was undergeared - is also not exciting.

What IS fun is when both teams are matched, being very close in points, where you actually engage in meaningful clashes with the enemy and where both you and them have to really pay attention to what you're doing, where leadership, organization and tactics matter, and where the victory is achieved in a heroic final push to a pyre, with the final score 5000-4850.

    THAT makes PvP fun. :D

Also, gear will still be important, especially in PvP servers. For example, on Sunday me and my guildies were hunting world bosses for our vanarch guild. We were checking channels and our party leader gave the order to turn outlaw ASAP - a world boss was spotted, and there was a party from a rival vanarchy already at the spot. We immediately formed and attacked them, gaining the boss to ourselves (and later had to fend them off from another world boss, as they regrouped and returned with reinforcements).

It was a fun, entertaining and exciting way to PvP - which you cannot have in PvE servers, btw - and we didn't even really get infamy, as we were attacking an equal number of same-level players with similar gear (in general). FAR better and personally rewarding than ganking lowbies.

  • Well just now it was 4900v4900 something, and our team was capping south, but other team went for mid where i went as well, did some Rain of arrows and explosive trap, and it was enough to postpone their cap and let my team win.

I imagine bg would be way more fun if i didnt have below 10 fps though, but on the other hand that leaves the guy with lower item level with more chance to kill me, because there is a good chance im gonna miss everything

  • Raven, Are We also getting the Pirate Costumes in the TERA Shop after this Maintenance?

The Pirate costumes will be available with the shop update, yes. At least that's the current plan and the update should become available later today. Though there is a possibility for a delay.

  • I guess by update you mean another RNG box with 5% chance of drop for a permanent outfit, am I right? x3
