TESTED FPS Fix

  • Quote from ter;2417417

My story. Ok so i tried everything ( almost) what was written in your guide still got so low fps that couldnt do any instances. So mad i was that wanted dont play this game anymore. In morning thought need to try one last thing install older nvidia drivers, deleted from add/remove , downloaded your offered drivers trying install. Sad cant find Nvidia card. WTF? Thought maybe drivers not for my gt540m 1gb. So took laptops cd with all drivers and trying install from it same thing. Gone to controll panel to check if i deleted evrything from nvidia drivers. Saw physx drivers deleted them, tried install drivers it worked. Gone nvidia controll panel select physx proccesor Geforce Gt 540m trying tera, instances oho 20~30 fps atleast playable now. So dont know really what helped with my tera. Now got nvidia drivers 268.56 , all settings default in 3D and in .ini. Checked add/remove there is no more physx drivers from nvidia wich you get installing new drivers. My PC laptop asus i5 2410m 2.3ghz gt540m 1gb and 3GB RAM (i now its low so got memory cleaner when playing tera) but now i can play atleast and do dungeons not on best settings but not on worst. 40-50 fps on map and 20-30 instances. Maybe it helps somone.

well, in the end you got better performance so, you`re ok :D

  • Aha.

    Cheers for this mate!

I was wondering what was up when I had 15-45 FPS in-game on my Asus G74SX laptop when I used to have 40-60 FPS with higher settings a bit over 6 months ago when I first tried Tera.

It seems I'll just have to download the older 296.16 drivers to fix it for the most part. I'll give it a go once I get home. Might try the whole fix while I'm at it. I'll post some results once I get home and try it out!

EDIT: Worked wonders. FPS went from 15-40 to 50-80 :)

  • glad it worked for you too, so far it fully worked for at least 23 people, from what the poll says.

  • I will try this tonight since Iv been tweaking the hell out of my ini/drivers and all but the fps goes from 110 down to 12 in bg, I hope it will be an improvement, I need to keep it stable
One thing tho , on nvidia I only found 296.10, should be ok even its not 296.16 like yours?

  • guys i have 12gb ram i5-3550 and radeon 7850, im playing on 15-35fps(medium-low settings) and i think this is a JOKE. I tried things from this post and nothing helps.

there are few other things to try to improve cpu power
be sure you dont have balanced power management, if yes, change it to best performance under power management in windows
for amd there is a feature called cool%quiet , for intel its hyperthreating i think (better double check that) and that feature needs to be disabled in bios to get more power in cpu

look for this little tweaks that will help you improve fps

  • HyperThreading only makes a difference if the game actively has been coded with support for it. There are only a FEW games which actually benefits from HT, so it doesn't make a difference.

Actual physical cores > virtual threads.

But, above tips about checking your Power Management plan is a good idea.

any driver under 3xx.xx should be just fine

some AMD user posted a possible fix on one of the pages here.Search for it.Might help in your case.

no need to do that, I would not advise anyone to change stuff in bios, unparking cores with the CPU app should be enough.

    you are correct.

I don't think I would advice to unpark cores either, unless it's a dual core. Newer CPUs have no problem with running a game such as TERA and only using ~20% of CPU power.
Quad cores and hexa cores have no benefit from unparking, especially with the tool that's floating around, since it's coded for 32 bit.

that`s why I put the tool in. Some users may not have a quad core CPU and even for those that have one, using the tool is no harm done anyway. I tried to make a guide for everyone, not just for a specific hardware.Anything helping is welcomed.

    CHeers~

For some reason Unparking my 4170 @ 4.3ghz gave me a significant FPS drop.

"Because #### logic" is pretty much what my pc says to me anyways
Especially as (and I s##t you not, I'm being 100% honest) when i turn OFF AMD overdrive My fps improves by 5~15 fps.

perhaps its my powersupply playing up...perhaps its my pc Throttling something...

Either way it makes 0 sense.

    Edit*

yes I know AMD processors are not as efficient as intel

  • need a bit of help cos something its bad :P
i have uninstall 310.xx driver and put in 296.10 but I didnt install hd audio also (I have video card having an audio chipset) and now i got sound on TS, youtbue, all but TERA. Im using a usb headset which doesnt need any drivers so wtf just happened, any tips?
    cheers

  • in this case, use the CPU utility to park the cores back and reboot pc, just follow the guide by skipping the step with the core parking.see how it goes

uninstall video card drivers from control panel, update, physix and main driver should appear in add/remove programs.also uninstall all audio drivers from there.reboot pc.install audio drivers and then nvidia driver 296.10 again and reboot.

    Should solve your sound problems.

P.S. see audio settings which one of the audio cards are used and make sure you got the cable plugged into the jack of the audio card in use.

  • Right having random FPS going up and down

    PC: Amd 965 BE @ 3.7Ghz
    12 Gb RAM
    Corsair SSD
    Ati 5870 1Gb (+running TRIXXX)

on PVE areas FPS ~60, on BG tragic 16-20
In all main cities fps can be 15-40
    Nexus 5-15 (all @ lowest)

yes I notice another thing it's doesnt matter in PVE, BG or Towns FPS seems be almost same for lowest and for highest graphics settings, difference maybe in 2-5 FPS .... seems like nonsense...

    any suggestions?

    cheers

  • The fix has magically "stopped working" after the first day. I have no idea whats going on.

Did some instances on the fix day (2 days ago) and my FPS was a smashing 25-35 (as in playable) in those instances.

But yesterday night my FPS was back to 5-25 (around 5-15 on bosses) in the instances I did. Seems really weird. Open-World FPS seems to have dropped from 40-60 to 25-35 as well :(

I guess I'll try doing the whole fix again and see how it goes.

    CPU: Intel® Core™ i7 2670QM Processor @ 2,2 gHz
    GPU: VIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560M with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM
    RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM

Not the best but certainly not the worst, lol.

  • For those of you experiencing fluctuating results. Have you noticed any changes in CPU/GPU usage ?
