TESTED FPS Fix

    Guys I don't have option - Use High performance nVIDIA processor. Does anyone have idea what to do?
    My gpu is Nvidia GeForce GT 630

    Hi guys!


    Im really disapointed about this FPS problem.
    I bought a new gaming laptop for 1000 Euro, i can run all new games on at least High settings FULL HD.


    In tera as a new palyer i have only experince in city Velika, about 20-30 fps depend on how many players on my screen at the same time.
    It doens't matter which options i try to disable. If i put this theard's S1Engine to my folder, or i use the original with maxed settings nearly i get the same results, maybe 5 fps difference in city. Outside it can go up to 10fps difference.
    Disabling anti-analising? kidding me? getting +0-1 fps.
    Disabling shadow? nonsens :D

    Difference between max and min settings?
    15f-20ps if 50palyer on screen at full settings
    30-40fps at min settings
    turn of UI? maybe give 5 or less FPS

    Lenovo y50-70
    i7-4710HQ 2,5-3,5ghz
    8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
    Geforce GTX 860M 4GB
    HyperX 3K 240GB SSD


    I have the newest drivers, i cant install win7, since my hardware's doesn't really support it.

    I got for u bad news guys , tera doesn't have optimization so u must try in your graphic setting all set up best for your pc to get high fp's many people i know got good pc and terrible fp's so ya u can't do to much with this.

    It's not even about tera lol, this engine used this way can't support 50 players and turning off shadows should improve fps quite drastically, though if you are complaining about 30fps then ye...

    Cleared data due to new patch, not playing much myself so data will rely on whatever people send me.
    (Full screenshot so I can see which instance and boss to avoid cheating + see consumables used. Last time got data from some boss when people claimed it was another, max hp gave it away)

    The best thing is i decided to ask my mate to test TERA on his end game PC so : Intel I7 4770k OCed 4,4ghz,16 GB RAM, 2x GTX 970 Windforce OCed version, and he got like 25 - 34 fps in velika and other crowded citys! :D basically he got 10 fps more than i did on my PC and here are my specs : AMD FX 4100 OC 4,5 GHz , 8 GB ram , GTX 570, so u can do the math how much cost his and mine PC and the difference is.....:( well he plays BF 4 with like 200 fps tough :D:D and other last games same sky high but TERA?!?!?! So again those dudes who claim its you'r hardware etc. what you think about this?!

    Yeah, nothing to do as i see.
    In lower pc-s you can get extra fps some ways, but if u have gaming pc u can't do nothing.


    I tried many tweaks but the results was sooo bad, i got only 2-4 more fps big cost of graphics at crowded city.
    Out side doesn't matter if i have 50 fps or 70, who care?
    Never mind, i switch back base settings and enjoy beautifull grapics instead of getting 2-4 fps for sacrifice many options(bloom,shadow, anti-analisig etc.).

    Lol Tera is not optimized ,i have spent $3250 dollars to build a pc, guess what except Tera i can play all games with no problem.


    Even if you have a super computer ,you not going to get a static FPS if you play Tera. The game is poorly optimized.


    One hint ,if you want to play games DO NOT USE WINDOWS 8, just don't waste your time on it. If you have a EVGA card use precision x16 would help.

    Unfortunately im a notebook user.
    It were released ~6 months ago, so mostly only support win8 drivers.
    I have no choice :thumbsup:

    Um, games on win8.1 work way better for me than they did on win7 (win8 was meh ye but 8.1 is way better)

    always wondered why it happens in tera when u open some menus like inventory the game freezes for a second or if u change glyphs with some keybind it freezes for a second and if u have opened ur profile+inventory its even worse and freezes for 2-3s? xd been like this forever never knew why this happen

    no windows 8.1 is better than windows 7...i used first version of windows 8 it was horrible yes i got low fps in every game but now with windows 8.1 update it's running way better than win 7...go do some research!

    They fixed these freezes to a high degree. However, opening the achievement window (on V by default) does give me a pause. -_-
    Supposedly, the reason for the inventory lag and freezes when changing gear setups was Flash related. Google 'tera inventory lag flash' for more info.
    Generally, the less stuff you have in your inventory, the smoother your experience, hence rerollling gear (esp trying to mw something with common scrolls) was way less annoying with an empty inventory (an alt char is best). If you don't have room for another char, you can at least put the scrolls on your skillbar.

    wow, it really worked. Now the animations are much more smooth and the freeze when opening inv/achi etc is gone. I used to have around 10-15 fps during dungs, now i have solid 35 fps.

    • Don't set your Shadows higher than 2.
    • Do whatever you want with the rest
    • Get Intel Core CPU, the highest clock the better. i5 to i7 will not give you a significant boost, so save money on that and spend it on aftermarket cooler to OC your CPU to at least 4.5GHz range.


    In 99% of cases performance is limited by your CPU processing power. And TERA does not really care how many cores you have, as long as you have at least two. All that counts is per-core performance of your CPU. Which means you need two things: Intel CPU and good OC.

    This is true! It fixed my low fps issues (4-15fps drops and freezes, inventory lags etc.) just by switching from AMD cpu to Intel. I had FX8350, now i got i5 4690k and gaming mobo Z97 GD65 and enjoy game with 30+fps at preset6.


    ps. I didn't even overclock my cpu so i don't think you need 4GHz+ for Tera.

    Yeah, CPU thing is true.


    I tried almost every thing, and for my only 2 solution worked.( i mean which ones give noticeable fps )


    1. Turn of dynamic lights
    2. ThrottleStop , that force my CPU to run on 3,5ghz instead of 2,5ghz,


    2nd solution has a great side effect, i can cook ham and eggs on my notebook :lol:

    2. Go to TERA install folder > /TERA/Client/S1Game/Config :


    > select all files from "S1Editor" to "S1UI" and delete them


    > launch TERA Online, log in and click Play, wait for the game to launch, it takes a while because the client will


    rebuild all those config files you deleted earlier and set them to the correct values automatically.


    Now, this didn't happened, what now? I have copied the files fro mmy backup folder and i seee the Fate of Arun thingie that appears before the game start and after that it just drops me out of the process.

    from 15-20 FPS it went to 20-25


    Not a big deal but its mean +30% performance :lol:
