TESTED FPS Fix

  • So where did you put CPUNumLogicalProcessors=4 exactly?

  • Right Bellow
    CompatLevelGPU=

I think, it's at the very end of the file. You can also press "crtl+f" and search for "CompatLevelGPU"

    Thank you.

  • lol this really worked.i start to play the game few days ago but my FPS was really low and drop to 5-8 in velika or BG.i follow this guide and now i run the game in velika with 45-55 fps around the same in corsaor`s Stronghold.i quess this fix really help people with low PC i have i3-2100 CPu 3.1gh, Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 4 gb ram,win7 ultima 64-bit

  • Hello everyone ,

So i started play TERA about a week ago , well my situation is difference with FPS min fps ~5 max 140 , when i playing my fps is normal and about 15 min playable my fps drops to 10~20 FPS and everything begun lag even sounds , some players saying it's can be because i am using AMD processor not Intel , then i tried play on lowest settings but the same like high settings , then i said WTF ? :D my connection is good think so, don't really understand where is problem.

    PC Spec

    RAM - 8 GB

    OS - Win 7 64 Bit

  • Hello (:

    My Rig:

So, you may see that the thing I am playing on is maybe not a toaster, but a laptop which wasn't made for high end games.
I used the settings from the .txt and I can tell - it works perfectly! I did run TERA with ~12FPS now I am playing with ~20FPS. Yes, it may not seem much to you, but it is an awesome change.
I did see it especially in Corsairs Stronghold (not judged by FPS now). It did not lag nor did I ever had big frame drops. It runs softer, the skills are much more direct (much more!) and I love it! Thank you and I hope it stays like that (:

    And back again...♥

  • Tested on i5-2500k , 2x4gb ddr3 kingston hyper-x 1600mhz, GTX560 MSI
    and on Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition , 2x4gb ddr3 A-data XPG , HD7850 Vappor-X

FPS goes up and down as usual, its NEVER stable with or w/o the so called "Fix"
If ur in a nexus/battleground/dungeon/boss fights the GAME CODE itself says "You wont have higher FPS than that! and thats it.
GPU and CPU usage usualy stays the same but ur FPS goes from x/xx to 80 may be more if u touched the ini.
If you go "V-sync ON" its more than terrible anyway, but if u off that /as it is/ the Unreal Engine has somewhat called "Smoother frame rate" which is the result of FPS lag. Even if u remove that your fps may go to 300 but in an Nexus u will be with less than 50 on preset 0 with everything turned off.

So the conclusion is that : IT IS THE GAME CODE /as in WoW/ You must cover the recommended system settings of the game x4+ to actually play flawlessly.

Recommended PC Spec to play with maxed graphics into Battleground/Nexus with stable 30+fps
    CPU - AMD Fx8350 / Intel i7-4770k / Core2 Extreme QX9770 or MORE [may be a server motherboard with 2 Xeon's ?]
Ram - 2x4gb or more [kit prefered] 1333mhz+
    GPU - 2x R9 290, 2x GTX780/GTX780Ti or R9 295x2
For those things u will need more than 1000W PSU at least 85% effective ! cos the R9 295x2 consumation is only 500W :)

So is it worth spending 5000$+ on a PC just to play TERA ? Or Gameforge can FIX that issue once and for all ?

  • remember to change CPUNumLogicalProcessors= to the desire one.

If you dont mind a poorer lighthing, you can change the following to FALSE for a superb boost :-
    -DynamicLights=
    -DynamicShadows=
    -LensFlares=
    -DepthOfField=
    -Bloom=
    -Distortion=

    My Lappy Spec are Following:-
    Intel Core-i5 3210m @ 2.89Ghz
    4048MB (3911MB Usable) DDR3 1600Mhz - 4gb vRam - 7.9Gb Total
    2.5″ SATA 500GB 5400rpm *465GB usable though -_-*
    nVidia Geforce 645m DDR3 2048GB 128bit @ 780/900 (undervolted for temperature problem)

    nVidiaInspector setting:-
    Antialiasing compatibility : 0x000010C1
    Antialiasing fix : on

    Antialiasing - Behaviour : None
Antialiasing - Mode : Override and application setting
    Antialiasing - Setting : 2x [2 Multisampling] (MSAA)
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling : 2x Sparse Grid Supersampling (SGSAA)

Texture filtering - Quality : Performance

    Ambient Occlusion setting : Performance
    Ambient Occlusion usage : Enabled
    Maximum pre-rendered frames : 3
    Vertical Sync : Force Off

    In-game Settings are:-
    Effect level : 5
    Lurid Display : 2

Texture Resolution : 1 (you can change to 2 if you have higher ram and gpu's than me)

PC View Distance : 1 (varies on your view needed)
Character : 0 ( it would only increase the polygon of the character and you are not playing with maxed zoom)
    Shadow : 4

    Distal Environment Detail : 1
    Landscape : 1
    Aerial : 2

    Effect Distance : 1
    Background Quality : 2
    Background Distance : 1
    Travel Effect : On

    Lightning Enrichment : 0 (oh please ==)
    Real-time Optimization : 0 (ohhh please -_-)

I get no less than 30fps+ in everywhere, i hope it helps.

  • I tried this fix and can say it improved character responsiveness and FPS by some 10-20 in low populated questing areas.
In town my FPS is still ~30 around a bunch of other players, I'm guessing this is the limitation for my CPU(4core@2,7ghz) and would potentially improve with OC.
The graphics take a little hit with these settings but it's nothing you wouldn't pay for a smoother game experience.

All in all, it's worth it if you need a little fps increase. In addition I would like to see a detailed AMD tweak/settings guide.

Any chance you are a AMD user?
    May i know your specs?

NOTE : Any chance you also did the Anti-aliasing setting? You could just leave that off for quite a boost in exchange of aliased graphics.

Hi, yes I've got an AMD card. I've just done a fresh OS install and haven't applied these tweaks again (yet). Antialiasing is maxed atm.
    My specs are as follows:

    Win 8.1 x64
    Asus Rampage Formula x48 motherboard
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 CPU @ 3,2 Ghz
    4GB OCZ DDR2
    AMD HD 7970 3GB GDDR5
    Chieftec 700w psu
    Asus Xonar DG soundcard
Kingston 120GB SSD (OS+Tera on this)

I'm expecting to get CPU OC higher towards 4 Ghz slowly, (I like to take some days to test every stable setting) and hopefully that works to increase minimum/avg frames. It seems like my GFX can chew through anything I throw at it but the CPU slightly lacks in raw power, so settings that help lighten the workload on CPU are probably the key to increasing frames here, but that's just me guessing.

I get around 50-80 FPS(very smooth gameplay) in dungeons & pve questing areas, and 20-50 in Velika averaging at just 20-35 depending how crowded it is. Having such low frames in Velika is a little disappointing really.

  • Why do you have such a monster GPU but such a old CPU...? It would be way better to just get a new Mainboard + a I5 of the newest generation(4670k, or 3570)

Well since ur asking... I got it in a trade for something and I'm not wanting to upgrade the whole rig atm.

The GPU works damn fine on this rig really, every game so far runs on max settings but ofc there's a slight bottleneck for some CPU intensive stuff like a populated Tera city.

  • Wtf are u talking about WoW game code, i got 430fps in wow panda with my rig and 25fps in tera, even with low settings xDDDD

"So is it worth spending 5000$+ on a PC just to play TERA ? Or Gameforge can FIX that issue once and for all ?"

My best friend have i7 4770k and 2 titan black and he runs tera at 25-20 fps in bgs and dungeons sooo, tera need a fix! NOW!
its funny when we talking about while we doing channelworks and have the same fps than me and his rig is like 2300$ and mine 500$ So stupid!

To get frames this bad on a system like that must mean the PC is very badly optimized as it's losing most of the processing power for this game.
Anti-aliasing settings can eat performance like mad, could always try toning those down.

It not his pc, it's the game dude, he have more performance in other games than me, only in tera he have the same fps than me... soo, it's this sh*tty game that we play, even with 25fps, we are insane hahahahaha, i even run watchdogs and bf4/3 with 45/60/70 fps on mid-high settings but in tera i have 20/30 fps in dungs and bgs even with all the settings to 0, sooo i really don't understand this game, right now im playing it on ultra and i have the same fpslag and the same fps that with all the settings on 0... just stupid

i struggle with the same "problem". GPU im quite satisfied but my CPU is kinda getting outdated now.....i7 920 1st gen. ontop of that i havent bothered about OC yet either as it would involve changing cooling etc and im kinda lazy. so i might eventually just upgrade my mainboard alltogether but didnt find a suitable alternative yet which would be worth the money as the i7 920 isnt "that" bad but lacks newer instruction sets. in terms of TERA i just need to mainly focus on single threaded performance which for example the 4770 performs 0.68 times faster but yeeee idk yet....

i dislike AMD as hmm...well its AMD.... bad experience with AMD

I must say I'm quite satisfied with how the game runs on this old CPU, gameplay is smooth and Tera looks very good. I've also just OC'd my CPU to 3,7ghz (from 2,6) and it's sure affecting benchmarks & game performance positively. CPU temps are staying under 60C so there's a lot more room for OC. I'd recommend that for anyone who needs just a little fps boost.
So I went to velika to check fps after OC and can see slight improvements: #1 #2 #3 #4

  • Sorry for late reply. I saw your screenshots earlier. I'm quite impressed but did you turn off the shadow? And whats your AA setting again? Ah, also, i don't recommend oc your gpu to 4ghz.

Yep I noticed shadow and view distance have greatest effect on CPU and improve FPS when you limit these. Though probably not that much of a difference with low shadow lvl to no shadows. Currently Anti Aliasing 4xEQ (multisampling) & Anisotropic filtering 4x.
