New PvE server, server queue priority system & chat filter

  • All game servers will be under maintenance on Tuesday, 29th of January 2013 starting at 08:00 CET. The maintenance is expected to be finished around 12:00 CET.

With this maintenance we'll introduce some changes to react to the increased player base. First of all we'll make some adjustments on the chat and character name filter. This should help to further improve the chat on all servers.

We'll further introduce a server queue priority system for our veteran players. Everyone who purchased either the Standard or Collector's Edition is counted as a veteran user. Those users will have priority when a server queue will be active. This will help our most trusted players to enjoy TERA even more.

Last but not least, the server Fraya (PvE / EN) is getting pretty much full of players at this stage. Therefore we'll open up a new English PvE server with this maintenance.

After the maintenance is finished, you'll be able to access the following new server:

    • Veritas - EN - PvE

Veritas will be added to the existing PvE realm pool*:

    Realm pool 1 - PvP:

    • Killian - International - PvP
    • Ishara - International - PvP

    Realm pool 2 - PvE:

    • Fraya - EN - PvE
    • Veritas - EN - PvE
    • Hasmina - DE - PvE
    • Elinu - FR - PvE

    *Explanation for realm pool
: You will be able to join groups with players from other servers when you team up for a dungeon or battleground group with the group finder tool in TERA.

In case of any changes to the timeline, we'll update you through our website, forum and social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.

    yay , sounds niceee

  • Thanks Raven & the team. I'm guessing you all sat around a big table and discussed the Priority queue feature :P

It's a must-have feature anyway. But thanks again for listening to the community.

  • Y u no give us more formation about the mount veterans will get?

Even US don't know what they're getting. It's TBA. They've said that already.
Best we get is Nexus Warhorse for TERA Club.

  • This is all excellent news. The queue priority alone will give some big thumbs up, and it's been clear that Fraya is creaking a bit under the weight of all the players - the early zones are -crawling- with players.

Is it possible to elaborate on this? The chat and name filter thing worries me a little as previously when chat filters were enabled it's resulted in huge amounts of #####s blocking almost every word anyone said. Is there more info on exactly what the filter is changing, and which channels will be affected.

Every implementation so far of any kind of chat filter in Tera has received massively negative feedback and made social communication quite hard. Hopefully it will be a very mild filter. The character -name- filter though sounds like a positive idea.

  • Can Fraya also be considered to be locked for new players as you consider doing with Killian? As we all could see in killian's example creating a new server alone didn't solve the problem as many players still want to go to the full server this delaying the creation of a new community on the new server and also straining the limit of the old server and the play experience for players there.
I think this would be much appreciated.

  • If the chat filter is active anywhere outside the global channels (area, lfg etc) I'm going to be very dissapointed.

  • Hi,

    to answer your questions:

    1) Chat Filter: We're aware that the chat filter is not perfect, we made some changes up until now, but we'll be open for your feedback and we'll keep on monitoring this situation.

    2) Closing down servers for new characters: We did this in the past and the reaction was not really good, because players could not join their friends for example. We still check different options for this in order to find a better solution if possible. For now the servers will stay open for the creation of new characters. We're also investigating options for character transfer, in order to allow players to move from a server with very high population towards a newly opened server in the near future. Though I can't give any promise or date for that one.

    Regards

  • Does it means that after that maintenance the game will be F2P?

There's two problems with the -previous- implementation of the chat filter:

1.) Firstly, it was active everywhere. Whispers, Say, Guild, Party in addition to Global, Area etc. I don't think anyone has any issue with chat filters on -GLOBAL- channels (global/area/trade), but when you start limiting private conversations and guild conversations heavily in a Social game, players get upset. Whatever implementation of the chat filter we get, my heartiest feedback would go into ensuring that it only affects mass global channels. If I can't have a sensible 1 to 1 chat with a good friend via an ingame interface as I would via Instant Messenger or Skype, something is wrong.

2.) The previous version was incredibly sensitive and would combine non-bad words together and then censor entire sentences as a result. This was my posting a perfectly normal sentence in global without a single amount of profanity anywhere in it :

That's what we -don't- want to see.

But yes, we'll have to see how tomorrow's implementation works - crossing fingers.

  • ONLY thing needed would be an on/off option. Not forcing it upon people that can "handle" it.

  • There's also the illogical concept that many many "bad" words were fully censored, when the game itself carries a Pegi 12+ rating. Even some of the ingame NPCs swear at times. There should be no reason to censor mild swear words that the game's rating itself would allow to be heard.

Last time the words "panties" and "pantsu" were censored, for instance. As well as words like "damn" and "butt". In every single possible channel. It made communication almost impossible outside of short sentences to say you were ready to pull a boss. MMOs are a social game, most of us play for social reasons, so hugely limiting the social communication aspect makes the game a very unfun experience.

I wont say more on the subject now, just that I think a large amount of the playerbase will be watching closely and -very- ready to give their feedback on how the new chat filter implementation is.

  • New servers are always a good thing.

About the chat censorship, its a bad idea... ppl will find the way how to bypass it, and the previous word filter was a joke: even some quests were censored out and ppl couldn't post them in chat and find groups that way... Words like "Kumas"(Open world BAMs) were censored out too, so... its not needed...

  • In regards to the chat filter. I seriously hope that it does not affect Party, Guild, Whisper and Custom Channels etc. If it's going to affect anything it should be Global or Area. Even so, I find that the removal of the chatfilter way back was a blessing unlike any other in TERA. Instead of having to re-write your message in totally retarded ways just to dodge the filter, because it censored sentences that contained no cursing whatsoever, you could finally write to your guild or party members without it looking like you just sent them an encrypted message.

If the chat filter is anything like it was before, please don't even think of re-implementing it. Remove it instantly and don't even touch it/put it in the patch. Nobody wants it, I think the community made itself heard the last time we had this discussion.

It destroys far more than it tries to protect.

  • Do this patch / update include solving the Upgrade problem from standard to CE that many people are have right now(including me)? In my case i come back to Tera online after nearly a year and then i upgrade from Standard to CE and set a monthly sub and start playing. The next morning when i wake up it says:

    Please select an account
    TERA - Collectors Edition
    - Game Time Expired: Please click here in order to purchase new game time.
    - Attention: If you still do not have a Standard or Collectors Edition, please click here in order to acquire one.

And when i check my account management it says that my payment is still pending , but then on the Payment overview it says that i have paid the 10 euors.
Soon been 3 days and it's still not fixed nor have i heard from the support or any other with the same problem, that this matter have been solved. Would be really great with some conformation from your side that this problem is being worked on or a statement of any kind.

    Sorry for my bad english

  • same thing here, nearly week passed and nothing somebody has to get shot for this
