Hey Guys,
We've got another great fansite introduction to give you today. This time we asked the guys over at TERAonline.info.pl all about their fansite and what they do for the TERA world. Read below to find out more about them!
· How long has Teraonline.info.pl been around? What gave you the idea to start the site?
Jetboy: Since the very beginning of 2010 – oh! It's been almost a year now! Thanks to our friends we were able to play in the Beta – we loved the game so much that we thought we needed to spread the word among other Polish players. We were all fed up with MMOs being just the same ideas cloned and released when they were not ready, and half broken. TERA at that time was in a better state than most of the other MMOs, even months after their release. The graphics are amazing and the target-less combat system was something fresh. Finally a game where you cannot play while eating dinner. You need skill - not just pressing a few keys mindlessly!
If that was not enough BlackIguana talked me into working on the fansite – he is the mastermind of the whole thing.
BlackIguana: Our goal was to bring attention and information about TERA into the Polish community.
· What does Teraonline.info.pl offer its visitors?
BlackIguana: We offer all the information about TERA from around the world that is available – from screenshots, to lore, and all that had to be translated into Polish. We also run interesting contests and try to get even more info by holding interviews with developers.
Jetboy: Then we also have a signature generator (http://teraonline.info.pl/sig) that would be usable for everybody, not only Polish people. We intend to make it even better when TERA gets released and we will have access to the in-game data – that means it will update your signature with your current level and status from the game, as soon as Frogster and EnMasse provide such data on a website similar to WoW Armory.
· How did you first come to hear about TERA?
BlackIguana: First time – somebody showed one of the first trailers of TERA and it started – I fell in love with it.
Jetboy: I'm an MMO games nerd – I look for info everywhere and there are not many things concerning MMOs I ever miss. It is hard to say now, when I first heard about it. Probably 2 -2.5 years ago when the first glimpses of the info were available in Korea. I was skeptical back then, but that changed a lot in the mean time. Now I'm a believer!
K: I was playing some old good f2p MMO and my friend told me about TERA. It was still just the Bluehole website back then though.
· How old are you? And what do you do alongside working on Teraonline.info.pl?
BlackIguana: I'm 22 years old and I’m interested in gaming. The rest is a secret.
Jetboy: Teraonline.info.pl is one of my hobby projects. I’m a 37 year old programmer. I have been doing everything from game journalism to programming games in my life. One of the other hobby projects I'm working on now is ‘Colors!’ – a Homebrew painting program for the Nintendo DS and iPhone.
Kamlotton: I'm 19 and I currently study IT. Besides that, we play games - lots of games!
· Is there a story behind your nickname(s)?
Jetboy: My nickname comes from the game Jetboys by CLR for C64 – it was one of the first games on that platform with really good graphics (in those times). I needed nickname for the demo scene use, so I chose Jetboy and it got stuck to me ever since then
It does not have anything in common with the Jetboy band.
BlackIguana: My second hobby beside games is Terraristic. I'm breeding Iguanas, and one day when I was looking for in-game name I looked at my pet. And so it stayed ![]()
Jetboy: TERrAristic
We should have called our site that ![]()
Kamlotton: It came from my name and childhood nickname. All my friends used to call me "Kamlot", one day I wanted to make it... more cool or "mighty" I guess, anyway, somehow I made up "Kamlotton", it's a unique nickname and I like it so I guess I'll stick with it for long time.
· What MMOs have you played before or do you still play actively?
BlackIguana: The list is quite long: MU Online, Silkroad, Flyff, Warhammer, Cabal, Lotro, WoW, Aion. Ever since I played TERA all the other games seem to lack dynamics and I cannot play them anymore.
Jetboy: Most actively I have played WoW, Age of Conan, Aion (where I met and befriended Blackiguna), Champions Online, Ragnarok Online and Lunia. Those are only the games I played for more than a year. I played most of the other MMOs to some point. I took part in so many betas it's hard to mention them all. But none of those games comes close to what TERA offers.
Kamlotton: Many, many titles. My first MMORPG was KalOnline and last one I've played was Zu Online (it's where I've heard of TERA). In the meantime I've went through many MMORPGs such as WoW, Aion, 9dragons, RYL2, Hero Online and some others which names I don't remember now. Right now I'm playing MMORTS (because after FGT I can't really stand any other MMORPGs besides TERA...) called League of Legends and some other online multiplayers such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or good old Counter-Strike 1.6.
· What do you hope Frogster will do in the future? Do you have any suggestions as to how you, as an active community member, could be made happy and content?
BlackIguana: I want them to take good care of TERA. We have seen too many good titles being broken by publishers. I hope you won’t forget about websites like ours and you will support local TERA communities.
Jetboy: I hope that Frogster will run TERA in Europe as well as possible. This is great game and it deserves extra care. Nothing would made us more happy than the best way to be able to play TERA as soon as possible, but then we would rather wait some more to get a polished game, than get it before it's ready.
Kamlotton: Well, first of all, I hope Frogster will maintain servers well so that I'll be able to play without being interrupted. Customer support is a very important thing as well, I hate it when I can't contact anyone about important matters. Maintaining some unusual in-game events might be a good idea as well. I'm also big fan of GMs being open to people, that is, not only appearing once a week to ban some cheaters but to actively take part in the community, talking with players not only about games-related stuff etc, let's let everybody know GMs are humans too.
· Describe yourself for us – only using adjectives
BlackIguana: Professional, open-minded, persistent, hardworking, cool, cooler, the coolest.
Jetboy: It's not about me, it's about TERA ![]()
Kamlotton: Optimistic, young, responsible , confident (I hate these kinds of questions...)
· Which class and race will be your main character next?
BlackIguana: I like the Baraka, Aman, and Popori races for their originality. As for a class, I’m 90% sure it will be Mystic.
Jetboy: It's so hard to decide – we played them all during FGT and all are fun to play... Probably I will stick to the Human Mage and I will definitely play Popori at least as much. I would love to play in a guild with all members being only popori males – that would be so cool!
Kamlotton: Castanic Warrior
· What do you like about MMOs? PvP, PvE, raids, crafting, chatting etc.
BlackIguana: Most of all guild raids. PvP with equal chances. All the rest is filler that will make the rest of the time in-game pleasant.
Jetboy: I love that I can meet people from all around the world – that's why I don't like when we are split into regions. I’m personally not much into PvP, I prefer hard PvE encounters. Crafting and economy can be also pretty fun for me, i.e. for my last year of WoW I only played in the Auction House
Kamlotton: PvP and social aspects are the two best things about MMOs. I just love playing with others and PvP is the essence of that. PvE is good too.
· Complete the sentence: I want to play TERA because….
BlackIguana: ...TERA is the best game I have ever seen. I have big expectations that I hope will be filled. I like open PvP without forced factions and politics that come out of it. TERA is a game created for me.
Jetboy: ...the combat is so much more involving than in other MMOs and the game is so different and seems so polished and finished.
Kamlotton: I love its graphics and gameplay and I have a feeling it will be a great success.
· What are your plans for the future?
We are going to provide information for polish TERA fans as well as playing the game and having lots of fun. We do not plan too far ahead – we try to live here and now.
· What makes the TERA community stand out from the rest?
BlackIguana: Most of TERA community is open PvP-oriented and fond of the possibilities the target-less system brings.
Jetboy: I don't see the community standing out from other games much. Those are all the same people that come and go to different MMOs in search for a perfect game. What makes the TERA community special is the involvement of the developers. We’ve received so much support from the people at EnMasse, the likes of which we’ve never seen with another game. Frogster is also reaching out to the fans, which is a plus.
· What do you hope to see in TERA (such as features etc.)?
BlackIguana: A working political system, balance of characters and classes, guild development, place to raid for big groups.
Jetboy: I hope to find a lot of fun in the game. For me that would require a good player economy, political system and some epic raids.
Kamlotton: Well, I really hope to see castle sieges though I already know I won't... in this case I'm really looking forward to that massive guild vs. guild and political related fights!
· Closing remarks
We want to greet all TERA fans and hope to cross our blades in-game!
