Quote from woolanoow;96733What is role play, anybody?
Since you're asking and we're on the interwebz here it goes:
Incomming quotes from Wikipedias page about MMORPGs!
(On social interactions)
MMORPGs almost always have tools to facilitate communication between players. (...)
In addition, most MMOs require some degree of teamwork for parts of the game. These tasks usually require players to take on roles in the group, such as those protecting other players from damage (called tanking), "healing" damage done to other players or damaging enemies. (...)
(On roleplaying in MMOs)
Most MMORPGs provide different types of classes that players can choose. Among those classes, players are encouraged to roleplay their characters, providing rules, functionality and content to this end. Some MMORPGs offer "roleplay-only" servers that prohibit interactions to other players among characters for those who want to immerse themselves in the game in this way.
For example, if a player wants to play a priest role in his MMORPG world, he might buy a cope from a shop and learn priestly skills, proceeding to speak, act, and interact with others as their character would. (...)
Wikipedia even has a page about roleplaying and role-playing games.
And here is a definition of the word:
role-play

–verb

to assume the attitudes, actions, and discourse of (another), esp. in a make-believe situation in an effort to understand a differing point of view or social interaction

Quote from woolanoow;96733That's exactly why I' asking this! I can't understand how there can be a RP server for an MMO!
Personally Ive had some great experience with MMORPG roleplaying although it's very limited. I would probably not roll my main character on a RP server if there was one, but I would perhaps create an alt.
There is some great communities for MMO-RP that holds all kinds of events and does awesome stuff (such as creating playermade villages, "racing", treasure hunting and the like).
A RPserver would help the roleplayers to create a community that would fit them better, since everyone (or most of them) knew about the common rules for that server and it would be less players that would greif them or somehow distrub/crash their events.
